Mrbob said:Isn't the PS3 verson 30FPS too? I would flip for joy if it were 60FPS.
You know what really pisses me off about 30FPS? I remember reading an EXCLUSIVE (at the time) UT 2007 preview from Playstation magazine about a year and a half ago, and Epic mentioned they already had the game running at 49.97 FPS on PS3. What happened? 30FPS UT3 is a joke. Unreal Engine 3 is a failure in my eyes right now if the guys who created can't even get 60FPS on their own games. UE3 is also leading to what is potentially the most boring selection of games ever. Everything is a damn shooter.

Mrbob said:At the very least, Epic should let us tone down graphical effects to achieve 60FPS.
Of course this type of talk is blasphemy in console gaming. :/
Barnolde said:Only the 360 one has been confirmed for 30fps from OXM. I'm hoping the PS3 one is 60fps.
StorablePrawn said:Ive never understood why these options are never available in console games. I'd gladly play UT3 on 360 and have it look like a bunch of Virtua Fighter 1 models firing sticks at each other if I could get a proper framerate.

Barnolde said:The PS3 version is rumored to even support user-created mods and cross-platform play with PC, since it's open and not closed off with Live.

He notes that the mod community was "an essential part of [Epic's] success", and commented: "We would love to transfer this mod community over to the console platforms." Of course you'll need a PC to create levels for the upcoming UT2007 for PS3/PC, but Sweeney believes that everything will be in place so that modders can make new levels on the PC, "download them to the PlayStation 3, and distribute them online."
In fact, he was very positive on Sony's open attitude to networked content compared to the Xbox 360 - he commented of Microsoft's platform: "Unfortunately it's more of a closed platform," and even noted that Microsoft seems to be "quite negative toward user-created content" under certain circumstances Epic has encountered.
Relix said:I am hyped for this game, and I am gonna get it for 360. Simply because I am part of those rare species that prefer a joystick than a keyboard/mouse combo. 30FPs is not a big deal to me... I really don't think they can pull 60FPS. UE3 is a monster, do you know how hard would it be to push all those graphics (which should be better than Gears) in at least 720P and at 60FPS? Hehehe, near impossible I would say... unless they unlock the fourth core o.0
UT360 is a day one purchase for me...I just hope that it doesn't come by the time Quake Wars arrive lol.
Barnolde said:I'm guessing this will be your first UT game.
Relix said:Negative. 'Veteran' of UT99 and 2004. Really, I just don't like mouse and keyboards lol. Though I want Double Domination back in UT3...
This is GAF! Where speculation is treated as fact!WickedLaharl said:what in the world makes you think that this game might be 60fps on ps3?

Barnolde said:They already gave PS3 mods plus mouse and keyboard support. They've shown the PS3 one before they even announced the 360 one.
If the PS3 one turns out to be 30fps, well, that just means that the PC game is best played on the PC (shocker!), not on the crummy consoles.
Barnolde said:UT360 is being sent to die.
I was talking to one developer with a big game that's coming out this fall and they said "we're gonna put it out on ps3 first instead of xbox360 because they don't support the ability for users to put mods up" and that's a huge mistake on microsoft's part...
why won't it? :lolWickedLaharl said:what in the world makes you think that this game might be 60fps on ps3?
I'd like to think that the 60fps group is a large oneRiskyChris said:I'm going to throw my hat in the ring -- 360/PS3 should've been SD machines where every game was 60fps. *ducks*
I'm surprised there's not a larger contingent of 60fps supporters on GAF. It really changes the gaming experience.
SuperEnemyCrab said:its pretty obvious to anyone with a modicum of intelligence that it wont be 60fps on either console. The video cards are just not good enough. Xbox 360 version could possibly look better, due to the 10mb on chip cache for AA, but niether console has the power to run the game @ 60fps....
And that's why we all love GAF :lolcjelly said:This is GAF! Where speculation is treated as fact!
i guess they were lying when they said they already had it running at over 49fps early on :lolSuperEnemyCrab said:its pretty obvious to anyone with a modicum of intelligence that it wont be 60fps on either console. WickedLaharl said:so your reasoning for why it might be 60fps on ps3 is because it is supporting kb/m and mods? awesome. :lol

Durrrrrr."And while the game is in simultaneous development for both PC and 360, it's the Xbox that dictates the detail. "Our visual bar is based on Xbox 360," reveals Polge. "How beautiful can we make it and still have it run solid 30 frames per second? Then, after that, we go and look at PC. It's very good for keeping us focused on what we need to do, what's a reasonable spec. The Xbox 360 is powerful enough that we're not having to change the game visually. In fact, on PC, we're worried about how we scale back to lower-end PCs."

Game = shit confirmed. Lead SKU = 30fps, what a ****ing joke. Oh well, saves me $60. Bad Epic, go back to PC.
