what is taking Unreal tournament 2007 so long?

im not a big fan but i remember they announced this game a long time ago and its still not out, and its just a multiplayer game. hek UT2k7 it probably might release in 2008

Actually, this one is supposed to have an extensive campaign, 4-player co-op has been confirmed. So it's going to be bigger than the last UT games.

It's not a cakewalk to develop games that look as amazing as UT3. They can take as much time as they want to develop it. Ever heard of a game called Red Steel that was rushed?

They have to do console ports, including the crummy 30fps 360 one.

Isn't the PS3 verson 30FPS too? I would flip for joy if it were 60FPS.

You know what really pisses me off about 30FPS? I remember reading an EXCLUSIVE (at the time) UT 2007 preview from Playstation magazine about a year and a half ago, and Epic mentioned they already had the game running at 49.97 FPS on PS3. What happened? 30FPS UT3 is a joke. Unreal Engine 3 is a failure in my eyes right now if the guys who created can't even get 60FPS on their own games. UE3 is also leading to what is potentially the most boring selection of games ever. Everything is a damn shooter.

Fatal1ty is creating the theme song and he spits such hot fire that the CDs keep melting shortly after printing. Sometimes during.

Only the 360 one has been confirmed for 30fps from OXM. I'm hoping the PS3 one is 60fps, especially since it has mouse/keyboard support and I think mod support too.

Shooters are too damn plentiful, but UT is/was an awesome franchise and I was hoping that UT3 would continue the awesomeness of 99 and 04.

After removing everyone's favorite mutiplayer types maybe they are putting them back in...

But they added hoverboards!1!!

At the very least, Epic should let us tone down graphical effects to achieve 60FPS.

Of course this type of talk is blasphemy in console gaming. :/

Ive never understood why these options are never available in console games. I'd gladly play UT3 on 360 and have it look like a bunch of Virtua Fighter 1 models firing sticks at each other if I could get a proper framerate.

It's unlikely, but GAF would be provide lots of entertainment if that actually happened.

It's that way to keep the experience consistent. The same reason they lock the framerate at 30fps even if the game can actually run at 60fps, but not keep it for most of the gameplay.

Exactly.
CoD2 (360) looked crummy without AF, but because it was 60fps, it was easier to overlook it and it's why the game remains fun and playable today.

The PS3 version is rumored to even support user-created mods and cross-platform play with PC, since it's open and not closed off with Live.

My mistake, the mods weren't rumored, they were confirmed!

He notes that the mod community was "an essential part of [Epic's] success", and commented: "We would love to transfer this mod community over to the console platforms." Of course you'll need a PC to create levels for the upcoming UT2007 for PS3/PC, but Sweeney believes that everything will be in place so that modders can make new levels on the PC, "download them to the PlayStation 3, and distribute them online."

In fact, he was very positive on Sony's open attitude to networked content compared to the Xbox 360 - he commented of Microsoft's platform: "Unfortunately it's more of a closed platform," and even noted that Microsoft seems to be "quite negative toward user-created content" under certain circumstances Epic has encountered.

Plus, mouse and keyboard confirmation

UT360 is being sent to die.

I am hyped for this game, and I am gonna get it for 360. Simply because I am part of those rare species that prefer a joystick than a keyboard/mouse combo. 30FPs is not a big deal to me... I really don't think they can pull 60FPS. UE3 is a monster, do you know how hard would it be to push all those graphics (which should be better than Gears) in at least 720P and at 60FPS? Hehehe, near impossible I would say... unless they unlock the fourth core o.0

UT360 is a day one purchase for me... :D I just hope that it doesn't come by the time Quake Wars arrive lol.

I'm guessing this will be your first UT game.

Negative. 'Veteran' of UT99 and 2004. Really, I just don't like mouse and keyboards lol. Though I want Double Domination back in UT3...

Understandable, but 30fps completely changes (read: ruins) a game like this. There's no reason why they can't do 60fps. UT has always been a very scalable game in order to retain the fast, twitch nature of it, hell UT04 ran nicely on my Mac mini.

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring -- 360/PS3 should've been SD machines where every game was 60fps. *ducks*

I'm surprised there's not a larger contingent of 60fps supporters on GAF. It really changes the gaming experience.

what in the world makes you think that this game might be 60fps on ps3?

They already gave PS3 mods plus mouse and keyboard support. They've shown the PS3 one before they even announced the 360 one.

If the PS3 one turns out to be 30fps, well, that just means that the PC game is best played on the PC (shocker!), not on the crummy consoles.

so your reasoning for why it might be 60fps on ps3 is because it is supporting kb/m and mods? awesome. :lol

Funny you mentioned it cause Geoff said somethin like that yesterday in the Bonus Round:

I was talking to one developer with a big game that's coming out this fall and they said "we're gonna put it out on ps3 first instead of xbox360 because they don't support the ability for users to put mods up" and that's a huge mistake on microsoft's part...

its pretty obvious to anyone with a modicum of intelligence that it wont be 60fps on either console. The video cards are just not good enough. Xbox 360 version could possibly look better, due to the 10mb on chip cache for AA, but niether console has the power to run the game @ 60fps....

I'd like to think that the 60fps group is a large one

Exactly. I prefer to have stable 30FPS than 60FPS which constantly slow down and turn everything choppy.

i guess they were lying when they said they already had it running at over 49fps early on :lol

epic produced nice visuals with 360 -- you don't think they'll be able to push ps3 any? it's definitely a possibility

My reasoning is that nobody knows except CliffyB and Epic, because they haven't said anything about it yet. I'm HOPING it's 60fps and I'm hoping that there are people sleeping in the office in order to make it happen and have UTPS3 be a competent product.

360 version, which was announced much later had 30fps confirmed and it just comes across as a quick and dirty port. The PS3 version is already better than the 360 one because of all the extra features it supports.

I'm just hoping the PS3 version is 60fps, I don't know if it will, but it won't be worth buying unless it is.

Why would anyone want to play UT on consoles anyway? It's kind of like playing halo on PC.

I say keep UT on PCs and give consoles Unreal Championship 3.

Do I have to directly quote guys from Epic to prove my point or will you believe me without that?

http://www.gamersreports.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10664

:lol I said wow.

"And while the game is in simultaneous development for both PC and 360, it's the Xbox that dictates the detail. "Our visual bar is based on Xbox 360," reveals Polge. "How beautiful can we make it and still have it run solid 30 frames per second? Then, after that, we go and look at PC. It's very good for keeping us focused on what we need to do, what's a reasonable spec. The Xbox 360 is powerful enough that we're not having to change the game visually. In fact, on PC, we're worried about how we scale back to lower-end PCs."
Durrrrrr.

Game = shit confirmed. Lead SKU = 30fps, what a ****ing joke. Oh well, saves me $60. Bad Epic, go back to PC.
