What Is The Armpit Of Your State?

Tons of small sun down towns all throughout Florida but if I had to choose one place in particular it would be Daytona Beach.

Driving through there and you would think time completely stopped after 1980.

Either there or Lakeland.

Yeah, Daytona Beach is a good one. If you want to travel to 1980. Go to Daytona Beach.

For NYC it's Staten Island

I mean we used to dump our garbage there and was a landfill spot

I mean the City literally made you a dumping ground

Colorado - Pueblo or Greeley

Probably Pueblo since friends who went to college in Greeley defend the town sometimes, when I've never heard anyone say anything positive about Pueblo.

I haven't been to Pittsburgh, so I can't speak to that, but from where I have been in PA, I'd hand it to Harrisburg. Literally the first thing you see as you enter the city on the train from where I live is a dump full of crushed cars. The area surrounding the train station is kind of scuzzy as well, although I did get a good Grilled Reuben from a diner there once. The capitol building isn't much to look at compared to any other.

Edit: Although I wonder if perhaps it should be some of the bumblefuck rural areas that handed the state to Trump.

Here's a list of the largest US cities with declining populations

1. Detroit Michigan
2. Baltimore Maryland
3. Cleveland Ohio
4. St. Louis Missouri
5. Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
6. Toledo Ohio
7. Buffalo New York
8. Baton Rouge Louisiana
9. Birmingham Alabama
10. Rochester New York
11. Montgomery Alabama
12. Akron Ohio

25% of the top 12 list are cities in Ohio. Unlike the meme, people actually can leave Ohio....and they do!

Rochester seemed leafy and pleasant during my brief visit.

Here in Washington it's mostly stuff we make fun of for no good reason like Renton, Tacoma and Forks.

I'm sure there's some garbage east of the Cascades.

I mean, Bakersfield is bad and all, but at least there's stuff to do there, unlike Visalia.

If you live in Visalia, Bakersfield is where you go for fun.

All of eastern Washington
or, Aberdeen
Graham
Tenino

I do have a soft spot for Aberdeen though since I have been there quite a few times. It's depressing to the point that its become endearing, I just want to see them succeed.

Damn, Alabama's big cities are both in decline? And here i thought it might become a sunbelt destination. Guess not...

Medford, Oregon, is a meth-infested shithole that I have the displeasure of living about 15 miles from. Thank god for Amazon Prime, for it has significantly cut down on the number of shopping trips I have to make there.

Houston. It's hot. It's humid. The traffic is ridiculous. The crime is outrageous.

There's a lot to choose from in Florida. Two (of many) armpits are Okeechobee and Starke.

I feel like all the smaller towns in the panhandle like Apalachicola are way worse. It's like a redneck costal Maine without the quaint brightly colored houses. Starke in particular is your standard small rural town those panhandle towns are that plus all the rot that comes with being so close to the ocean.

The Panhandle of Florida
This person knows what I'm talking about!

North Carolina is weird in this regard.

Like almost every "city" here is decent at worst. Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Winston-Salem, Asheville's a damn hipster haven

Then it's all just surrounded by Deliverance.
