What is the best dinosaur based game?

bubble_bobble_vcmm_lg.gif
these dudes are dinos too

this not strictly a dinosaur game but the last guardians creatures remind me of dinosaurs

lol plus it's a great game too the trico character is amazing to watch in game

Turok 1 on Steam lol

M&K transforms the game into something different from the N64 version, the game becomes very fast, non stop action like doom. I was surprised how different it felt, how much better it felt compared to the original N64 original. You run around at the highest speed constantly, on N64 it was more of a slow pace due to the impreciseness of the controlls and the low framerate.
If you like the fast paced action fps style then it really is one of the best.

Some upcoming dino games to follow:

Mesozoica, a park builder: facebook.com/mesozoicagame

Saurian, a game where you play as dinosaurs: facebook.com/sauriangame/

Both aim for high scientific accuracy.

I would kill for a JP game in the style of Alien Isolostion.

What was that shitty dinosaur game called that was pre-installed in the original iMacs in schools back in the day?

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis . You said to feel like Jurassic Park , well the world building part sure felt the same , sans the dinosaur encounter part .

Dino Crisis 1 & 2

Dino Crisis 1 was a Resident Evil clone with dinosaurs made by Shinji Mikami and other people who worked on RE1+2. It was basically a survival-horror take on dinosaurs, you only face about 5-6 different kinds in the game but the dinos are given a real sense of speed, power, and intelligence, back with a lot of interesting gameplay elements and memorable scenarios.

The second game is a common answer for best dinosaur games, it goes in an action direction but introduces and addicting arcade shooting style (that would later be adapted into the RE series Mercenaries Mode) but with a campaign structure, many more dinos who all behave differently to tackle and combat, plus more lush environments with good pacing and gameplay variety, and a surprisingly interesting story. It's very addicting and the game has some real interesting variety in its dinos for enemies.

Dino Crisis 1+2 for me. Especially the first one was like a dream come true for me since I was both a huge RE and a dinosaur nerd at that time.

Still can't believe this series hasn't been revived yet.

My picks would definitely be:

  • Jurassic Park for the SNES
Earlier it was likened to The Legend of Zelda, but I feel it may have more in common with Far Cry and Crysis in the sense that it's this shooter but it wants to have this giant tropical map for you to run around in. So, when you're outdoors, it switches to a different view to compensate for that. But it's still the shooter gameplay of that era -- you're running around collecting key cards to open locked doors like in Doom, but on a much, much larger scale. There are a lot of weird design decisions that hold it back, though. Lives? High scores? No save system? Ugh. At least the soundtrack is super good, though.
  • Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis
This was originally billed as a combination of a park builder simulation and an action game, and it fails as that, but it's fun enough while it lasts... which isn't actually very long at all. It takes about three or four hours to reach a 5-star rating and run out of stuff to build. But until you get to that point, it's great fun, and I guess there is a challenge mode if you're so inclined.
  • Lost World Arcade
It's like House of the Dead, but with dinosaurs, and you get awarded bonuses for pulling off trick shots (like shooting a T-rex in a specific part of the mouth). That's pretty gosh darn cool.

What happened to that dinosaur game that got announced even before PS4 came out? It was running on Unreal Engine 4.

I'm disappointed that we've gone four pages without mentioning one of the best sequels on the NES. You know what I'm talking about. Took everything great about the first game, but gave us more levels, much better graphics, a world map, and awesome dinosaur power ups!

Adventure Island 2

This game barely has any fucking dinosaurs in it. Lizardmen are a fucking copout.

Turok Dinosaur hunter has like 10 damn games and not one of them is actually about hunting dinosaurs.

Yeah, this has always been one of my bigger complaints with the series. Never read the comics, but the games got pretty far removed from Dinosaurs most of the time. The most dinosaur centric one to me, was Evolution. Which not too many people like.

However, playing MP where 3 people are Indians and one is a raptor and they can only use regular weapons (no guns modern or alien) is a lot of fun.

I just want a Far Cry game on a tropical island with dinosaurs. The hunting missions would be sooooo fun.

Why Ubi hasn't done this yet is beyond me. Would have been worth more effort than just changing up previous skins for Primal.

That's what I thought Primal was going to be instead of what we got.

You'll always have Blood Dragon for fighting giant lizards on an island :P

Don't know why you expected Primal to have dinosaurs? Dinos didnt exist by the time humans were around. That's basic science

Ark is the best Dinosaur game IMO if you like Survival type games. Its alil different/slow at the beginning but its pretty fun once you get the hang of the game.

Really loved Dino Stalker (Gun Survivor 3: Dino Crisis) on PS2.
It wasn't a great game according to reviews, but it was somehow enjoyable for me.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) on Playstation 1. Play as a Compsognathus (a little dino), as a Raptor, as a T-Rex, as a human male, as a human female.
I didn't remember anything about this, but I saw screenshots and ... Wow! How did I forget this?!

No one's mentioned Raptor from Conker's Bad Fur Day?

(pardon the terrible quality; believe it or not, that was the best I could find, LOL)
