Overwatch. Despite some issues, it's mostly the second coming of early Team Fortress 2, with the competitive focus on balance that hopefully avoids it falling into the mess that game did. Plus all gameplay-affecting content being free and unlocked for everyone is a big deal for me, and makes the aesthetic stuff easy to ignore (especially as it's whole skins and not silhouette killing mix and match clown outfits, despite a few questionable ones). It also keeps revealing new depths to me, and even many of the characters I initially wrote off as having a low skill ceiling start to develop incredibly complex interactions once you start facing better players. It's managed to overtake Dark Souls 3 as my GOTY, which I never expected.
Titanfall 2 is probably the most fun in terms of pure movement, but it's unfortunate I find the pilot time to kill as offputtingly short as the first game, along with the hitscan focus, as it kind of pulls me away from it a bit and it feels contradictory to the movement mechanics. It's pretty much unmatched when you're on a roll though. It also has the unlock system issue, although it's on the inoffensive side and at least all future content will be free. There's also the great campaign, but I guess that's besides the point in the context of this thread.
