What is the greatest E3 moment ever? For me, it is this video...

For me the FF7 Remake reveal is everything that is wrong with E3 in a nutshell. A CGI trailer for a game that is unlikely to see the light of day for another couple of years. It was revealed too early just to score some E3 points in a year when Sony didn't have a lot to show in terms of big exclusive games that were close to release.

Seemed really cynical to me, but I'm not really a FF fan in the first place so maybe I'm missing something.

Why would you be excited if your not a fan? Of course you won't.

I don't give a fuck about Half Life 3, but i know a lot of people will have orgasm the moment it's announced even if it's 10yrs too early.

The point of a reveal is to let fans know it is coming. When is the game released is another matter altogether.

E3 has never been about showing off exclusives close to release.

Maybe you're missing something? Maybe the fact that it's a remake people have wanted for a long time, for one of the best games of all time? There's nothing wrong with announcing that at E3.

Some posts I read on here are just weird. Like, you post on NeoGAF, you knew about the excitement and hope surrounding a FF VII Remake.

I would have a hard time choosing between Sony's E3 2015 and Nintendo's 2004 conference. The "games worth playing" intro gave me chills. Soo well done. Then the RE4 reveal... Holy crap. Then 45 minutes later, the Twilight Princess reveal. I don't know if this will ever be topped for me.

This is still it for me. With the introduction of Reggie, the DS and a very exciting line-up they already had a strong conference, but then came Zelda... Best E3 moment for sure.

In retrospect, the Donald Trump appearance in 2004.

Trump: The MMORPG.

It would have been the best. Huge.

Never seen this before.

1. Huber's Reaction to Shenmue was my reaction so I gotta go that as one All-Time.
2. Twilight Princess Reveal was the very definition of gaming hype.
3. Sony's 2015 as a whole might never be topped
4. Smash 4 Snake's out the Box
5. Jack Trenton destroys the entire the xbox one idea.

Honorable Mention
E3 Bear

I own both a 360 and a One but microsoft has been solid at E3 but never great.

Im not saying that anyone else shouldn't be excited. Just that I personally don't like the way games are shown before any real work has been done on them, and when they are more than two years away from release. This isn't the only example, but FF7 was highlighted in the OP, which is why I mentioned it. It's not about the specific game, although announcing it alongside a Shenmue 3 that wasn't even funded made it seem like a cynical way of covering for a lack of anything else to show for the immediate future.

Showing games too early is how No Man's Sky happened. That hype train was a ride people were happy to go on, and they will learn nothing from what happened. They will put it all on Hello Games and do no examination of hype culture or self-reflection on the part they played.

Yes, the Final Fantasy VII remake announcement is simply the greatest E3 moment ever, possibly even the greatest video game announcement ever, Shemnue 3's announcement then came shortly after... It was unreal! My god!

There are different kinds of big moments at E3. Biggest reveal? Shenmue III. So damn unexpected. Halo 2 was cool too, but nothing comes close to Shenmue III.

Sony had a few moments at E3 2013 too, though (by repeatedly kicking Microsoft's balls).

I can't tell if you're spoofing the back cover quote of the FF VII PS1 case or not haha.

I can't bring myself to say FFVII Remake because of the trolling that preceded it with FFVII PC on PS4.

It wasn't a well presented announcement, but I'll go with Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Remake. I've been waiting for a decent Crash game since my childhood for goodness sake...

It's kinda sad that Sony 2015 is so highly regarded.
The Last Guardian is out in a month and we haven't seen anything that wasn't already shown for PS3. It could be a real dud, Sony's first party output this gen was very hot or miss for some, for me it was through and through miss.
Final Fantasy Remake will be chopped up in several parts and seeing FF XV development it is going to take ages probably.
And FF XV quality will be indicativ of what FF VII Remake will deliver.
And Shenmue 3 will never be able to live up to the old parts with it being a kickstarter thing. It was a true smoke and mirrors publicity announcement from Sony with no substance now or in the future.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake = One of the most requested games by fans.... ever
Shenmue 3 = One of the most requested games by fans.... ever
The Last Guardian = One of the most requested games by fans.... ever

All of them getting announced on stage during one conference = Best E3 ever

It's not actually hard to understand that.

Easily the Source engine demo. Have yet to witness anything that's had a similar impact and I'm not sure I will again for some time.

For me as a Zelda fan, this year's Nintendo stream was pretty much all I could ever hope for. Sure, the reveal itself was not really epic, but seeing the game in action after waiting for 2 years was a great experience.

Aha nah I wasn't, but what an interesting coincidence!

I don't remember the last time I've seen the case for the game though.

I think I've seen a couple of the FF7 and FF8 discs laying around somewhere but the cases are nowhere to be seen lol.

I think what he means is that announcements without any sort of concrete information mean nothing - and they really don't. I mean, this wasn't even the first time The Last Guardian was announced. Final Fantasy XV was also "reannounced", and people went apeshit over that. Some of these people surely bought consoles for this game when it was known as Versus XIII. At some point we're submitting to the corporate hype machine, and that's something I consider unfortunate because it ends in disappointment for many people.

Personally, I can't be bothered with that anymore. Give me a playable demo, which accurately reflects your final product, and firm release plans. Then, I can potentially start to get excited.

You guys really need to learn what opinions are. If you don't care about the games, think they will flop, or generally see no hype, that's your opnion alone.

Expecting everyone to be as negative as you would be a pretty sad thing IMO. We're talking about personal E3 moments, not what YOUR expectations for the games are.

I was gonna say God of War live orchestra but nahh.. Konami presser at E3 2010 was the best thing happened on E3's history.

FF7 PC on PS4 troll was part of why that announcement so great!

Shenmue 3 reveal and reaction

It's a direct sequel to a game 15 years old that is the perfect definition of 'acquired taste' from a god-like director who equally hasn't really done anything to take my interest in the gaming field since producing Outrun 2 in 2003.

And yet here we are.

I laughed hard and said 'Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkk' very loud by myself on seeing the thread title on GAF the morning after the show (didn't stay up till 2am and watch it live in the UK)

Definitely the FFVII Remake reveal for me. I'm not actually looking forward to the game after reading interviews about it and seeing gameplay, but I'll be damned if that trailer wasn't the hypest a video game trailer or press conference ever made me.

The FFVII Remake reveal must be the greatest: it shook so many people, to the point of tears, and even I, who hadn't even played FFVII, was amazed and excited for that remake.

Yet you were hyped for Zelda Twilight Princess reveal which the core story is pretty much the same as always including the gameplay and everything as you posted just recently :P
Yeah, TP, WW, MM, OoT and SS could pass for remasters of each other. Have you played any Zelda game?

Have you played FF7? The remake actually is a completely new game that simply shares the same core story as the PS1 ,,original". It's like ,,remaking" Zelda 3 with the scope of Twilight Princess.

This watch it like every month.

I'm like that girl in the video. I don't get it? Lol

It's cool that they finally doing the remake but I just don't understand why people want this so much. FF6 is a better game. Lol

A full 3D remake of FF6 would make me react like those guys though. Lol
