What is the greatest zombie movie ever?

For me it's still the original Dawn of the Dead.

REC. is probably my favourite if you pretend the sequels never happened.

I'm really sad that World War Z got bastardised the way it did. It had such potential.

Zombieland is the only one I enjoyed since it takes something as stupid and ridiculous as zombies and turns it into an awesome comedy. Bill Murray won that movie for me!

When I saw REC for the first time, it blew me away. The concept of REC 2 was cool it's just that too bad the story shat the bed in the end.

Dawn of the Dead is still the best.

The commentary tracks on the theatrical and extended DVDs are really great, too. Romero was a million dollars in debt, so thankfully the movie was a hit.

Is this considered a zombie movie ?

Yeah, I liked REC 2 initially because it was at least moving away from the cliches and trying to put a different spin on the traditional zombie story, it just leaned too much into it and ruined what it had going.

I still find Night of the Living Dead creepy. Dawn of the Dead has some comedy relief in it which I enjoy though.

Dawn of Dead Remake.

Most other Zombie movies are subpar when compared to it.

It really was a good combination of trash/blockbuster polish/humor.

REC is zombie? Always thought it's just another horror flic. Putting it on my list. Just Finished "The Remaining" book series from DJ Molles and are in Zombie vibe mood.

OP kills his own thread. Dawn of the Dead is still the best zombie film by my personal global criteria of "those who know what they're talking about".

We've seen some fun stuff like Zombieland and the like but Dawn is the gold standard. The rotting champ.

Twilight.

..wait, Kristen Stewart wasn't playing a decaying, shambling emotionless monster? Well now I'm embarrassed.

wtf. Seems that i haven't see the original Dawn of the Dead (1978, called "Zombie" in germany) yet, seeing the trailer. On my list now.

Surprised to see DotD Remake on a lot of people's radars, I remember liking it when it first came out but I saw it recently and something about it put me off.

Serious: Dawn of the Dead Remake

No, just no.

The original Dawn of the Dead is the best ever made, followed by Night of the Living Dead and lastly Day of the Dead.

Edit: can't belive how many people are saying the remake. I wish a real zombie apocalypse happened, to wipe the slate clean.

I dont know

But i think Dawn of the Dead Remake is the best remake ever made

I think it would have been fantastic if they'd made it like a series of WW2 documentaries. Interviews with survivors, archive footage, visiting key sites etc. Such as wasted opportunity.

I'll never forgive you Brad Pitt!

Toss up between this and the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Get over yourself, dude. It's a fucking fantastic remake.

That would have been great. Instead we got a dumb action film.

It was okay, but the baby scene was terrible, as was the zombie truck. It was too over the top. It peaked with the opening scene and never got any better, only worse.

The original is more my pace, has better characters, a fucking amazing soundtrack by Goblin and I love the practical effects.

It would have been great AND it would have been a suitable movie adaptation of the book. World War Z as we know it has nothing to do with the book. It's just another zombie movie that Brad Pitt wanted to pass off as being a book adaptation to pull in an existing fan base.
