What is the worst superhero game not named Superman 64?

I hated this:

Granted, I had finished playing Maximum Carange and discovered this thinking it would be more of the same.

While this game is, indeed, awful to play, it did have a surprisingly excellent soundtrack.

It's really unforgiving and not exactly a great game, but it's hardly the worst. I at least got some enjoyment out of it, which is more than I can say about a lot of super hero games.

I was gonna post Rise of the Imperfects but with the other posts in this thread im not gonna bother.

Wait, Rise of the Imperfects was a bad game? I freaking loved that game. At least I think I'm thinking of the right game.

Very true about the soundtrack.

The game felt like 5 different mediocre devs made 5 different mediocre games. No consistency to connect any of the 5 characters in terms of gameplay, enemies, game physics, power up icons, character size, etc.

I'm not much of a comic fan but Arcade didn't seem like the most interesting villain to be having for the first X-Men game on SNES. I guess it was just because they thought he would fit well with video-gamey stuff.

Some people already covered worthy candidates like Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis and Batman Forever.

All the LJN Spiderman games were terrible, so add those to the pile.

If we're thinking modern games, this should be a prime candidate:

This game seriously enraged me as a kid. First you have the Spider-Man maze level, which is fairly simple to beat once you figure out how the web swinging works. Then they dump you into a level select where you can choose from:

Spider-Man - in a vastly harder and more obnoxious level full of cheap hits
Wolverine - an irritating action segment, again full of cheap hits AND the most annoying laugh sound effect you will ever hear in a video game
Cyclops - horrendous minecart-based platforming where you will die immediately if you touch the ground
Storm - slow, boring underwater air management simulator
Gambit - more platforming, except you get chased by a giant rolling spike ball the entire level so you have no time to think. Oh, and you have limited card ammo, so there's hardly any room for error when destroying obstacles in your way. Enjoy!!!

The only one I could ever finish was Wolverine's crappy level, everyone else just served to anger me further. The one saving grace is the soundtrack, Tim Follin NEVER disappoints.

This game was a fucking turd. Did you know that there's not even any end credits after you beat the game? You get a single screen with some bullshit on it that I can't remember, then back to the title screen.

As a Batman fan, I find this image repulsive. What game is it from!? I want to know so I can avoid it like the plague...

Batman Forever on the SNES/Genesis.

I loved the first TMNT NES game as a kid. But now I recognize just how HORRIBLE those controls were. I had I all my turtles until the electric seaweed. Then would be left with like one. Maybe two.

Not the absolute worst but certainly deserves an honorable mention.

I like how Spidey's not sure exactly why they're all together or what they're supposed to be looking at.

And just to show that even retro superman was crap I present Atari 2600:superman

That was awesome. Arguably one of the first open world games, you'd fly around the city capturing crooks (you'd pick them up an take them to jail) and finding pieces of a bridge to put back together.

lmao what is this

Man I knew the Fantastic Four series couldn't catch a break in films, looks like they couldn't get a good deal in videogames either. Maybe the series really is cursed lol.

Anyway I don't really own any superhero games, so I haven't really encountered any turds (lucky me).

Not familiar with this one, how bad was it? Sweet cover though.

I remember watching a AGDQ playthrough of this and one of the bosses was so ridiculously designed with such miniscule margin for error I don't think any average player could beat it. I think it was the Rhino boss fight.

The first Spider-Man on game boy was pretty awful. Mostly due to controls, I think the graphics and music were ok for the era.
