What is your favorite breed of cat?

My girl is half Maine coon. Seeing a bit of love for main coons in this thread and rightly so. Not only are they beautiful cats but they are incredibly loyal and hardy.

I'm partial to my Maine Coon, Gizmo. He's a lovable goofball.

I have allergies to cats and I've found that they do better with long haired cats. The hair tends to come off more clumpy instead of fine and floating every where like a standard shorthair. The saliva is what most people are allergic to, so I know that Siberians have the least amount of that type of saliva.

Bengal's definitely!

We always just had mixed breeds, but this year, my parents are finally springing for a Maine coon (a female), which should be a lot of fun. Can't wait to see how our fat bum tomcat reacts to the newcomer.

Not exactly a breed (almost 100% lady cats only because genetics!), but tortoiseshells. Incredibly smart felines, but with one hell of an attitude.

They're not really a breed, but "tuxedo cats" are in my experience very friendly and affectionate. I can't remember where I read this, but black cats typically are more laid-back.

Tortoise-shell cats, on the other hand, can be a handful. The one I had growing up was pretty mean. Our tuxedo cat, on the other hand, was much nicer. He and our (also very laid-back and friendly) dog were buddies and we'd often find them curled up sleeping. The tortoise-shell cat didn't get along with either.

Turkish Angora!

Turkish Angora cats are playful, intelligent, athletic and involved. They bond with humans, but often select a particular member of the family to be their constant companion. They are in turn, very protective of their person.
Turkish angoras are energetic, and often seek out "high ground" (or perch) in the home. This perch is then used as a way to observe activity of the home. This could include tops of doors, bookshelves, and other furniture. Some ride on their owners' shoulders.

Mutt dogs are best dogs and mutt cats are best cats.

Sometimes you get a lucky draw and a mutt kitten that looks like a Russian blue pops out. That's pretty neat.

Korat

(Eyes are actually green, but the flash makes them yellow)
They really have a gorgeous colour, definately one of my favourites.

I have always loved black cats though, I think it's the eyes contrasting against the fur that makes them look really expressive to me. Plus I've never met a black cat I didn't like.

Aside from Bengals, which have already been mentioned, I pretty much love any breeds that look like tiger/lions. Here's the Toyger breed:

I don't really care about the breed of cats, really.

I always get one from the donation area of petshops here.

Cats suck as a companion, but I like those hairless ones.

Not the best pet to keep around by insecure people who wanted to feel loved 100% of the time.

British Bombay that we got off a neighbour.
The runt of the litter, she's still tiny almost kitten size at 8 years old.

There is both a British Bombay and an American Bombay. While there are some physical differences between the breeds, including the fact that green eyes are acceptable in the British cat, both cats have the same lovely, happy and mellow personality and both possess the legendary Bombay love for children.

Bombay cats are exceptionally people-oriented and really don't like to be left alone, so singles and time-strapped households might consider another option.

Otherwise this is an exceptional pet, active, busy and vocal with a deep unique purr and open heart that welcomes the company of cats, dogs and most especially children.

Looks like this basically.

According to the Cats 101 show, ours is a Jamacian Bombay. He's independent during the day and my snugglebug at night and in the morning. We even have him leash trained to go on walks. Amazing cat.

Bengals are the best. A mix between a domestic cat and the wild Asian Leopard cat. Intelligent, extremely playful, loving. Got two myself.

Whatever ones don't lull you into a false sense of security only to freak out and scratch/bite for no reason.
Most cats are cool, though.

Somali

I've never seen one of these in real life.

What type of breed is this?

Rescue cats are the best. I got this gorgeous girl at 8 years old and she is the best. Absolutely love her so much, she's intelligent and laid back.

Maybe I got the best of the both worlds, russian blue with a tuxedo. :D To top it off, she's at 16 pounds in that photo. She's a heavy girl but gorgeous all the same. :D

I like Norwegian forest cats.

They are quite big.

I have one. He's sweet, social, giant and never bites/scratches (intentionally... He'll kick off of you sometimes and he might snag you with a back claw in the process).

Just the sweetest cat, love him to death and can't imagine being without him. For a while I thought he might be a maine coone, but he doesn't have the ear tufts. A vet told me he's either Norwegian or Norwegian mixed with coone.

The kind that don't kick kitty litter everywhere and rip up my arm when I try to pet them before smugly ignoring me for the rest of the day

Oh wait THEY ALL DO THAT

i love cats :P

I have 2 Tonkinese and a Somali and the Somali is far as fuck.

What about the ones that sit in the litter tray and shit over the side onto the kitchen floor, then kick the litter every where?

Or the ones that go out in the rain, shit, cover it(and their feet) with mud, run back inside, levitate up the stairs and wipe their feet on your bed?

Or what about the ones that are randomly sick on the window sill?
Run up the stairs and puke on your recently cleaned bedding?

i love cats :P

But not as much as I used to.
Never again.

I haven't even mentioned when she starts acting weird.
