What is your favorite game without a sequel?

Demon's Souls. I really loved the lore. I still think fondly about the possibilities of the sixth archstone. (No, Dark Souls isn't a sequel, even though it is a perfect and amazing spiritual successor.)

Uh? Not really. I mean, there are illusion of Gaia references in the game, but it's a directed sequel.

Well, Soul Blader, Gaia and Terranigme are all in the same series, with similar themes, gameplay and general atmosphere. By the token of them not being "directly" related I could say Final Fantasy IV (and then quickly realize, while typing this very line, that they made The After Years).

Okami
Bully
Beyond Good & Evil
Psychonauts
Planescape

out of all of these Rockstar is the only one who doesn't have an excuse for not making Bully 2

Ah, i guess you are right. It doesn't fit the OP that much.

Well all the games I hold near and dear to my heart have gotten at least one sequel, outside of a couple ps1 era rpgs. There's certainly stuff from the last few years like TWEWY, Radiant Historia, Catherine, Ghost Trick, Mirrors Edge, etc, that I would like to see another entry to but they are relatively recent and have time to get another game.

There are so many. Planescape: Torment sits at #1 for me.

But tons of great RPGs and adventure games have never had a direct sequel, and in many cases, nor should they. Full Throttle, Grim Fandango are others. Zeliard. Blade Runner. The Last Express. I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream. Alpha Protocol. Freedom Fighters. Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Vagrant Story. List goes on and on.

Kya: Dark Lineage, and it even makes reference to a sequel in the ending.

Also, Dog's Life. I could play one of those every few years if they'd make them.

Also, Silent Bomber.

Also, Ninja Five-O.

I want to see a sequel, spiritually, at least to Spec Ops: The Line.

After playing that game I am immediately interested in the next game that Yager will be working on. They sold me, I would be open to a spiritual successor to Spec Ops, because there's really no way for a direct sequel to that game. Of course, that's what I said about BioShock when I beat it in 2007, but this is the video game industry.
