What is your personal "Top 10 games of the decade"?

In no particular order...

1. Mario Kart Wii (Wii)

5. Wario Ware Inc. Mega Microgame$ (Gameboy Advance)

8. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Gamecube)
9. Wario Ware: Twisted! (Gameboy Advance)

I dare you to call any one of these a bad game.

1. Rez
2. Super Smash Bros Brawl
3. Super Smash Bros Melee
4. Valkyrie Profile
5. Skies of Arcadia
6. Sin and Punishment
7. Dragon Quest 8
8. ESPGaluda
9. Shadow Hearts: Covenant
10. New Super Mario Bros Wii

or something like that.

1. Final Fantasy IX (good start of the decade for me :lol )
2. Valkyria Chronicles
3. Castlevania Order of Ecclesia
4. Super Smash Bros Brawl
5. Kingdom Hearts
6. Guilty Gear XX
7. Dragon Age (my favorite WRPG, Oblivion & Fallout 3 introduced me to genre but this is best)
8. Wii Sports (Too important to not include even though I've moved onto other games)
9. Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask
10. No More Heroes

10. Final Fantasy XII
9. Ninja Gaiden
8. Uncharted II
7. Metal Gear Solid 4
6. Half Life II
5. God of War II
4. Devil May Cry 3
3. Shadow of the Colossus
2. Resident Evil 4
1. Metal Gear Solid 3

4) SingStar
5) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
6) New Super Mario Bros. Wii
7) Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
8) Orcs & Elves
9) Super Mario Sunshine
10) Wii Music

This sounds like hyperbole, the Bayonetta demo should earn #3 on my list. The game itself will just be a few days too late to make the cut, though.

1. UNCHARTED 2!!!222!!!

5. Little Big Planet
6. Motorstorm
7. HALO 3
8. Shadow of the Colossus
9. ICO
10. Final Fantasy XII

#01: Final Fantasy IX (RPG)-it's lacking some of the best bits of Lunar, Grandia, et cetera, but few games have such amazing bookends, soundtracks, ability systems, or casts, and it's kind of a complex take on existentialism
#02: The Last Blade 1 And 2 (fighting)-I prefer 3-d fighting games, but a tragic, thoughtful single-player tale set in sunset-of-an-age Japan with memorable characters, a fantastic contrast in fighting/play styles, and GORGEOUS music/visuals is nigh unbeatable
#03: Castlevania: Order Of Ecclesia (action-adventure)-I adore Castlevania, and this is pretty much the 1 I would make: perfectly low-key holy warrior story, Circle Of The Moon's difficulty, Bloodlines' combat, Rondo Of Blood's environments, Simon's Quest's RPG elements (if only the soundtrack was perfect instead of stellar)
#04: Ico (adventure)-I appreciate that they make thoughtful games for the masses (hooray for hand-holding mechanics!), so the bandwagon-joining doesn't annoy me...that much
#05: Bangai-O Spirits (shoot-'em-up)-I have a weakness for Section Z/Sidearms Hyperdyne/Forgotten Worlds-style shoot-'em-ups and oddball sequels, and Bangai-O Spirits balances risk and reward perfectly while applying shoot-'em-up principles to puzzle, action, sports, and platformer genres
#06: Puzzle League Attack (puzzle)-this is the sequel in the Gamecube's Nintendo Puzzle Collection, and it transcends Puzzle League's limitations with a half-dozen gripping modes to become the all-time greatest puzzle game
#07: Galactic Civilizations II (strategy)-I love Stardock/Brad Wardell but don't love his universes, so I assume the reasons I love decimating the opposition with the Altarian Republic are that the game's expansive and essentially perfect
#08: Endonesia (art)-1/3 of the best development team ever offers another brilliant take on convention (an adventure game where YOU are the inventory), and the emotional payoffs are pitch-perfect and plentiful
#09: Klonoa: Lunatea's Veil (platformer)-Klonoa's always meticulously rock-solid in every respect as a platformer or puzzle-platformer on handhelds and consoles and everyone likes it and I am such a sucker for games with a melancholic charming tone so there
#10: Strider 2 (action)-if you weren't supposed to sprint through the game, combo-porn enthusiasts and zealots of methodical combat, then why is everyone's favorite anti-communist future ninja so exhilarating to control (and why is the grading system so stingy?)

1998. Expansion was 1999.

Aaah another opportunity for people to show how "cool" their game choices are, completely ignore the "Top 10" part and list 45 and say they just can't choose, and people trying to justify random niche game.

So, I'm in.

1. Football Manager 2007
2. Civilisation Revolution
3. GTA: Vice City
4. Shenmue
5. Final Fantasy XII
6. Pro Evolution Soccer 4
7. Mirror's Edge
8. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
9. Vagrant Story
10. Katamari Forever

01. ICO (tears of joy and sorrow, no other game left me so emotionally drained)
02. WipEout HD + Fury (pinnacle of the series, it got everything right)
03. Grand Theft Auto 3 Series (LC/VC/SA) (not too serious sandbox fun, ground breaking too)
04. Katamari Damacy (quirky as hell, fun to play, as original as it gets)
05. Demon's Souls (game of consequence, hard but fair, adrenalin drainage deluxe)
06. Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time (pinnacle of the series, it got everything right)
07. Okami (flawed master piece, instant timeless classic)
08. Gran Turismo 4 (my most played racing game so far, but might be replaced by 5)
09. Killzone 2 (IMHO the most immersive 1st person shooter to date, layers and layers of awesome)
10. Ikaruga (shmup perfection, border lining art)

Buggered if I know. Probably something like:

Half-Life 2
Civilisation IV
Company of Heroes
Bioshock
Burnout 3: Takedown
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
Ninja Gaiden II
WarCraft III
SoulCalibur II
Resident Evil 4

10) Half-Life 2
9) Gears Of War
8) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots
7) Modern Warfare 1/2 (Multiplayer Only)
6) No More Heroes
5) Guitar Hero/Rock Band (No Particular One)
4) Perfect Dark Zero (Multiplayer Only)
3) Fallout 3
2) Bioshock
1) Halo

10) Guitar Hero (2005) - It's easy to say now I'm sick of the series, but this game took over my life when it came out. It was a sick obsession, and generated goodwill that wasn't burnt out for another four games with me.

9) Etrian Odyssey (2007) - If you had told me I would become addicted to a dungeon crawler, I'd have called you a nutburger. Or at least I would have before this game. I've tried other dungeon crawlers since, and aside from EO2, nothing has quite the same pull. The risk/reward system is fantastic, with the game giving you ample opportunities to feel fucking awesome for escaping with the skin of your teeth because you're senile and forgot a Warp Wire.

8) WWF No Mercy (2000) - I don't think I've ever had so much fun with four players in a game and I probably never will again. It's such a great game that even my friends who hated wrestling loved the game. RIP greatest wrestling engine of all-time.

7) Picross DS (2007) - If this list were for hours spent, this would be at the top. Simple rules, engaging puzzles, fun fanservice, and great "pick up and play" gameplay. I think I played this game and only this game for about three months when it came out.

6) Viewtiful Joe (2003) - Just plain fun to play. It's funny, stylish, challenging, and gorgeous. Mastery of the play mechanics really makes you feel like you're the man. By far my favourite Gamecube game.

5) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (2001) - This is as good as THPS ever got, and man, was it good. Great level design, fantastic mechanics, great secrets, awesome soundtrack, and an awesome multiplayer mode. I still play this and try to top out my high scores.

4) Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (2003) - My favourite fighting game of all-time. Thousands of matches played, dozens of rivalries formed, tears, sweat, cheers of triumph and groans of defeat. All this for a budget price... unbelievable.

3) Peggle (2007) - This is the best puzzle game made since Tetris. No questions. No retorts. If PopCap never had another original idea in their lifetime, this game would still make them more worthy contributors to gaming than most. Fucking brilliant.

2) Super Mario Galaxy (2007) - God, this was a tough call. I've certainly played other games on my list more than this. Yet, I can't deny that when I play it, it just comes together in a way that makes me think, "Yes, this is what it's all about". Before this game, I wasn't all that interested in 3D Mario. I'm ready to believe.

1) Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) - I'm a bit surprised to find this here at the top. This game gave me so damn much. The single player was fun. Running through on co-op on various difficulty settings was a blast. The LAN parties - oh man, the LAN parties. This game was the social event of my group of friends for months. I bought an Xbox because of this game. I bought extra controllers because of this game. Fucking amazing.

10) Mafia
9) Mass Effect
8) Dead Space
7) Team Fortress 2
6) Civilisation 4
5) World of Warcraft
4) Resident Evil 4 (wii)
3) Bioshock
2) Half-Life 2
1) Deus Ex

Probably missing a few. Oh and presume PC version except where noted

1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
2. Super Mario Galaxy
3. Metroid Prime
4. Shadow of the Colossus
5. F-Zero GX
6. Resident Evil 4
7. Left 4 Dead
8. Call of Duty 4
9. The Orange Box
10. Super Smash Bros.: Melee

1. Majora's Mask (best of all time)
2. Super Smash Bros Melee
3. Resident Evil 4
4. Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
5. Metal Gear Solid 3
6. Vice City
7. San Andreas
8. Wind Waker
9. Mario Galaxy
10. Street Fighter IV

Some awesome shit right there.

1) Half-Life 2 & episodes
2) Battlefield 2
3) God of War 2
4) Skies of Arcadia
5) Metal Gear Solid 3
6) Command & Conquer Generals
7) Unreal Tournament 2004 (onslaught mode)
8) Modern Warfare
9) Devil May Cry 3
10) Okami

No 2009 games which does not mean I got bored this year. The reason why is that I often realize how I really like some games only playing them a second time...

1.Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
2.World of Warcraft
3.Jet Grind Radio (DC)
4.NCAA Football 2003 (Xbox)

Wow, this is hard. I'll do a list, but this probably isnt even accurate.

10.) Resident Evil 4 - Man, so many moments. Great, great game.

9.) Guitar Hero 2 - The game that introduced my friends and I to the music genre. Played this one more than all the other music games combined.

8.) Madden 2010 - I love NFL football, and with the past two patches, and I know others dont feel this way, between the presentation, gameplay, etc..... my favorite Madden yet.

7.) Knights of the Old Republic - I RARELY finish RPG's, but I beat this one TWICE, and Im not even that big of a fan of the Star Wars universe.

6.) Uncharted 2 - Presentation. Graphics. Story. Multiplayer. Yes, verrryyyy good.

5.) Silent Hill 2 - Best horror game ever, period. Nothing has come close. IMO obviously.

4.) Dead Space - Yeah, I know, this is more action-horror though. Crazy good game, very underrated.

3.) Mech Assault - This is one that I'll have on my list, by myself, alone. But good lord, I put so much time in the multiplayer. Nothing was better than taking my KitFox into a room of Madcats and the other big ones, and running away with it.

2.) Halo: Combat Evolved - Lan parties, so many fantastic moments.

1.) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Put more time in this game than any other game this decade. Loved every great and infuriating moment of it.

My list of honorable mention: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Persona 3, Shadow Complex, Jeanne D'Arc, WWF No Mercy, GTA 3, Modern Warfare 2, Resident Evil 5, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Borderlands, Burnout Revenge, Crackdown, Final Fantasy X, Super Mario Galaxy, Infamous, Valkryia Chronicles, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Persona 4.

Because I'm bored on the 31st

1. TIE: Demon's Souls & Locoroco 2 - Locoroco is the only 2D platformer that I didn't put down after 10 minutes.
3. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (DS version) - This ruined all other tile based SRPGs for me. Sorry FFTactics
4. TWEWY - I want a sequel or something with similar gameplay SO MUCH.
5. Locoroco Midnight Carnival - A bit hard but new "boooing" mechanic is good.
6. Killzone 2 - Only shooter to not get me motion sick. Being pretty doesn't hurt either.
7. Flower
8. Harvest Moon: MFoMT
9. Peggle (PC/Mac)
10. Pokemon Emerald

never had a ps2 unfortunately.
