What "old" games do you still play on PC?

I only play Half-Life deathmatch classic on my PC. I've got HL2 on my Xbox, but Still prefer the original for simple multiplayer deathmatch.

That reminds me I'll have to reinstall it one of these days as I haven't played it since my last format C.

I suggest you to buy HL2 on PC (xbox version is a joke). It's soooo much fun.. in fact it's more fun than HL1 DM and TDM :D

Thief 2
Day of Defeat
Civilization 2 (still the best imo)
Monkey Island 1 2 & 3
Deus Ex
Theme Hospital
Planetside (well it ain't that old my account is 2years old though)

I was playing through Wing Commander 1 until a couple weeks ago when WE9 entered my home. I'll get back to it in time though, as I wanna play through all the games, including 1's Secret Mission's and 2's Special Ops.

Wing Commander is arguably the most influential game ever made, and at the very least is one of history's true killer apps. Thousands of people bought brand new PC's or upgraded their old ones to play it, turning the PC into a gaming platform pretty much on it's own. Any game list that yaps about influential games and fails to list WC is basically toilet paper.

This was the other game I was buzzing with on Mame...it's still as fun to play now as it was back then, which is just remarkable.

I'm also hoping to buy Grand Prix 4 at some point so I can do a 2006 season on my comp with the neccessary mods. GP2 and 3 are two of the best racers I've ever played.

XP-5 "Broiler" Microwave projector FTW.

I was wondering when this one might come up again! Too bad they never got around to finish the story and give us more wanton destruction and gruesome deaths!

Recently been playing:

Best RTS ever imo, the fast paced gameplay and beautiful soundtrack make this an alltime classic!:D

transport tycoon

I agree with this one. I can't believe how bad Transport Tycoon 2 turned out. Same designer/developer, but a worse game. Amazingly, the graphics looked *worse* than Transport Tycoon 1.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
The Curse of Monkey Island
Betrayal at Krondor
Pirates! Gold
Warcraft II

And as soon as Vivendi Universal Games stops pushing back the release dates I will be playing:
Space Quest Compilation
Police Quest Compilation
King's Quest Compilation

i'm shocked and appalled that I'm the first person to mention this game:

jagged_alliance2_03.jpg

God I wish this got a proper sequel from the original team.

Goddamn is Jagged Alliance 2 awesome.

I'm horrible at it, but great game. Same with X-com for that matter.

What's the difference between JA2 and JA2 Gold/Wildfire/whatever?

A lot of the games being mentioned aren't that old. Wizardry 8 is only five years old ffs. Anyway, some older stuff I still play:

Ultima VI
Star Control 2 (actually the Ur-Quan Masters remake)
Jagged Alliance 2
Panzer General
Warcraft II
Theme Park
SimTower

And some stuff I don't consider old:

Homeworld
Wizardry 8 (the greatest CRPG since Alternate Reality IMHO)
Alpha Centauri
Heretic II
Heroes of Might & Magic III

LucasArts via SCUMMVM, of course...

...some Amiga loving:

Dungeon Master
Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe
It Came From the Desert
Wings

other stuff -

Ultima IV, V, and VI.

Oh, and Seven Cities of Gold. I'll still play that for hours with the random map generator (which used to take 15 minutes and now takes 2 seconds :D ).

Star Trek: Bridge Commander ( it came out in 2002 and thanks to the great mod community and pretty good mp, this is a keeper)

How could I forget...

I actually fell asleep playing this last night. Wifey woke me up to hand me the baby and I was still clutching my dual shock. :lol

I've also been playing some Rallisport Challange lately...With the anti-aliasing available on today's cards, those car models keep looking better and better. The environments look a little sparse for today, but the car models and the lighting on them is still up there with the best.

Has anyone figured out how to play it in widescreen resolutions?

Roller Coaster Tycoon (the first version and its expansion packs)
to hell with Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, and 3 is a DISGRACE

What the hell.... RCT2 and 3 completely obliterate the first installment...

Operation Flashpoint (every now and then I want the definitive tactical shooter/modern war experience)
System Shock 2
Deus Ex
HL (or to be more accurate, the slew of good single player mods I downloaded years ago - and sometimes the expansions)
Fallout 1, 2
Planescape Torment
NOLF 1, 2

For older games that I've tried to play through and have never really been able to tolerate:
Arcanum (I just don't get it - possibly because I want to treat it like a steampunk/fantasy Fallout, so when I play it I can never get into some of the features on it)

Older games I've started, but not finished:
Thief 2 (got up to third from the last level, then screwed it up somehow so I had to restart and just lost patience)
Anachronox (honestly it's a great game, but I've always encountered some strange bugs and crashes - though the unofficial patch for it may fix that)

That's soooo true. I'm running at 1280*1024 and at that res, I don't think you need AA.

Are there patches for this game? Is there another Rally racer on the PC that looks as good or better?

Yeah I agree, I still break out Wing Commander from time to time, especially WC2, which is my favorite PC game of all time.

God I want a REAL sequel or clone of this. A REAL one. Age of Wonders was close... but no cigar.

Quite a few others too, I dig out Torment, Fallout, Freespace 2, Deus Ex, and others every now and then

Every once in a while I'll play these games when I'm bored:
Homeworld 2
Quake 3
Morrowind
Moh:aa
Diablo 2
Extreme Off-Road
Starcraft
Jedi Knight
Tribes
Oh and lets not forget ghost recon

Just finished The Dig. Not a bad game, but the end was bit of a disappointment.

Now I'll need to find Gabriel Knight 3 and VGA version of Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade from somewhere. Talkie version of Loom would be nice also, but it's impossible to find these days.
