NOTE: I'm not trying to make this a "your favorite Pokemon" thread in disguise, so let's try not to go there please

I think it's safe to say that we all know about competitive battling and everything that comes with it. But what about the other aspect that isn't looked upon? Just like nearly every Professor in the series says at the start of the game (and I apologize for not finding a better screenshot):

Pets! Or hell, with how smart some Pokemon are, even companions for life. There's plenty of cat and doggo Pokemon to choose from, or maybe you want something that can help out around the house like Machoke from the RSE intros. Maybe a Hitmonchan to spar with at the gym (the actual gym, not a Pokemon gym), or a Psychic type to help you cheat on tests...ok maybe ignore that last one.

What I'm trying to say is that there are a lot of good choices, and I wanted to get GAF's opinions on the subject. And for the sake of argument, let's say that evolution is possible and a factor that you can consider, or you can just have the specific stage of evolution in your choice. And as for my choice, I'd choose Meowth since he's the actual best cat in the series. Plus they love money (and shiny things I guess). Who doesn't love money?

Actually, to expand on that:
He'd obviously be a fantastic watchdog and he's big and fast enough to ride almost anywhere.

He might be a little too big to keep indoors though, being almost 2 meters tall. So I guess if I had to choose something that wouldn't have as much trouble being indoors it'd be a Jolteon or a Sylveon, but probably Sylveon since it seems like the calmer and friendlier Pokemon, going by both of their Pokedex entries.
