In 2015 Wii U is going to have a strong first party support, as opposed to Vita. Third party wise it's Vita > Wii U easily.Lol, ok.
However, both systems' fate from 2016 onwards is all but clear.

If you want something else than JRPG/VN, get a Wii U (and complete your JRPG backlog on your PSP !)
If you want even more JRPG/VN, get a Vita.
The good thing is, whichever you choose you can't go wrong.
By buying Wii U, you basically also buying a Wii
If anything I expect the wii u's support to die off faster than Vita's. Once there's a new Nintendo console Nintendo will be gone, and that's really the only game in town. If you're interested in a Vita it's probably for the indie and japanese games and those will keep coming for years.
Except that by buying a Vita, you get the PS1 and PSP collection of games. If you have a PS3, then you can transfer pretty much an unrestricted number of PS1/PSP games to your Vita. I shouldn't have to mention how huge the library of JRPGs on the PS1 is.
Grandia and Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky look great on the Vita's screen. Also, SUIKODEN 2 is on PSN now.
Sony is already done making any exclusives/AAA for it.
Nintendo is still going, with a good schedule ready for 2015.
Go for a Wii U OP. Vita 2nd.
Lol ok.I recently bought a Vita because of the amazon.de deal (99€. Got a Wii U since early this year.
I'm glad I didn't pay more for the vita. So far the experience is mediocre at best, Wii U on the other hand delivers must have titles on a monthly basis.
Easy decision: Wii U
At first I want to purchase a Wii U because I want to play Zelda, Smash, Xenoblade X, Bayonetta and Mario Cart but I do not if I will like Nintendo game or not. Actually, my last Mario that I have played is Super Mario Bros on Famicom when I was very young. Anyway, I really want to play Smash and Mario cart but I have no one to play with. Those games seem like a super fun family/party games but I do not know many one who have Wii U and play those games.
When I cannot find someone with Wii U to play with I think about PS vita. I'm a fan of novel game and (old)JRPG. I think PS vita is a good choice for that. I have a lot of unfinished JRPG on PSP and I want to play it again on PS vita. I also want to try Danganronpa(I like this kind of game very much.). However, PS Vita's future seem so dark for me.
Definitely, I will buy both of them in the future but what should I pick first ?
Vita is dead in the water, has been for a bunch of years. The Wii U at least is heavily supported by Nintendo.
Bayonetta and Mario 3D World are totally fine as single player games, you don't need a friend to enjoy them. Smash and Mario Kart have a solid online component, we also have tournaments and events for GAF members in both games.
The Wii U has the best games out now on any current gen system and that may not even change come next year even with Uncharted, MGS, Bloodborne, etc since the system is already stacked with so many good exclusives (Pikmin, SSB, MK, Bayonetta, Toad, 3D World, Monster Hunter, W101, DK: Tropical Freeze, Luigi U) and will have plenty more exclusives next year (Zelda, Star Fox, Yoshi, Kirby, Xenoblade, Splatoon).
The Vita is the definition of a niche console. Most of the good games can be found on the PS3 in some form and the exclusives (a lot of ports/spin offs) don't warrant the purchase of the console imo. Indies aren't my idea of a good time but if that's your thing you can always play those on a PC.

What???? Most, and I mean, like 90% of Vita indies are available elsewhere, I don't know what you are talking about them being exclusives
You could say that about any online game.No social atmosphere with MP.
No laughter.
No yelling.
No friendly-bantering between comrades with each green shell hitting each others.
Well, if you buying a Wii U, you are getting every Nintendo home console since NES, with the exception of GameCube (at least if we are talking only about official methods and catalogues), as well as GBA games and, in the future, DS ones. Of course there are not so many JRPGs as on PS Vita with BC, but Nintendo library does have its quality JRPG titles, and, as far as I see an evolution of a handheld Wii U Virtual Console selection, things will definitely be better. I have very high hopes for DS VC, and GBA VC already achieved my expectations.
Thank you, I have read every comment and it is still a hard decision.
Ones can consider a system as dead when they have no interesting game on that system but both Vita and WiiU are quite alive for me :/
However, all of you are very helpful. I have many more things to add in my consideration.
RER 2 is coming to the Vita and not WiiU and that is a AAA game. Vita has more games coming for it, and Nintendo most likely to launch new console 2016. Vita will last longer especially when it is getting Japanese of which plenty of getting localized, and indie support.
Lol ok.
Besides if one wants JRPG the Vita is a no brainer.

or get it now and play windwaker HDIn that case, absolutely pick up the Vita. I have both (Vita / Wii U) and the only reason why I bought the Wii U is out of nostalgia and to play Zelda next year. I love JRPGs and Japanese games in general, so I play quite a lot on my Vita. (and recently on my PSP as well)
I'd say go for the Vita, (maybe) pick up the Wii U later once Zelda is out...
Owning both I would recommend you to buy the Vita first since its library already has a lot of games you'll most likely want to play if you like JRPGs and Japanese games in general. It has a lot of third party support in this regard.
I waited to buy my WiiU until it finally started to get the games I was looking forward to and I would advise you to do the same (unless you find a very good deal). Specially because there's a lot of spacing between new releases.
Wii U has a future and more exclusive games.
well arguably WiiU has a 2015 exclusive library. Vita doesnt unless you live in Japan (is Saga and Phantasy Star announced for the west btw?).I certainly wouldn't bet on Wii U outlasting Vita at this point.
Those games seem like a super fun family/party games but I do not know many one who have Wii U and play those games.

Do it, get both. That way you know you wont be disappointed.

This is why you should actually read the OP and never reply to thread titles alone.

The Wii U because of Zelda.
ZELDA BRO
ZELDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ZELDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Vita doesn't have exclusives? I guess I won't be able to buy HtoL#NiQ, Severed, Persona 4: Dancing All Night, Atelier Ayesha Plus, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth and Oreshika (to be fair, could move to 2016).well arguably WiiU has a 2015 exclusive library. And on top of that, I expect things to get localization announcements like Danganronpa: Another Episode, Soul Saga, Corpse Party: Blood Drive, IA/VT, Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Atelier Escha and Logy and SAO (whatever the new one is called) just off the top of my headJK, those are 2015 titles.
