I want to see where they take Ellie's story next, so it's gotta be TLOU3 for me. No doubt Jimbo has already been talking to Neil about it given those sales figures.

In mi book they can do whatever the hell they want, if the game is awesome i am gonna buy it, since we all know the game is going to be awesome, i will buy it. But I really do not know what i want from them, sci-fi sounds about right. I do not know if they are into those themes, and if there is a director passionate enough to go for that.

While I agree that keeping Amy would probably have made for better Uncharted games, as I suspect her style is perfect for what is going on (the change of tone in UC4 was not an amazing fit for the series)... The rest is just strange speculation, I don't know about the 70% figure, but I do know that you don't get a game like TLoU 2 out without some serious talent at all level of an organization, so whoever was hired to replace those people is pretty good anyway!
I never understood the Amy is god attitudes of some posters here Naughty Dog didn't fall apart when she left.

I preferred how UC 2 & 3 were story and structure wise (UC4 wastes about two hours of exposition at the beginning before you are truly "in the game").

Obviously ND didn't fall a part when she left, TLoU's surprise success probably gave Druckmann a lot of leverage and I suspect he took over UC4 to "fix it"--don't get me wrong he is extremely talented, but I don't think his style is a great match for the Uncharted games.

This is all speculation, maybe UC4 was heading into a disaster and pushing Amy out saved it, but I doubt that.

3 easy steps:
Fire the story writers. Hire good ones.
Focus on better AI albeit more interesting gameplay.
Give a raise to everybody in charge of the graphics because they excelled.

I'd like to see a new IP or more TLOU in Lost Legacy or Left Behind format rather than waiting for a 40h long part 3 'till 2027. I think we'll know by the time Factions 2 comes out with PS5 HD remaster.

Hopefully something that doesnt rest on the formula of the last 7 games. I'm a fan of said games but it has been getting more and more transparent

Both Uncharted and TLOU have a clear fixation with astronaut stuff.

I bet the next IP is going to be related to that or maybe dinosaurs.
Guerrilla already has the dinosaur stuff kind of covered, I'm gonna guess Savage Starlight is going to be its own game.

TLOU2 has a metric shit ton of gameplay tho. I don't think lack of interactivity is a problem for ND. When I think movie games, I think Telltale, David Cage, Dontnod.

Last of Us 2 straight up might have more combat arenas than Doom 2016, a game specifically about combat arenas lol thats certainly how it felt for me

i like asian grills :messenger_savoring: :messenger_smiling_with_eyes::messenger_expressionless:

New IP. Preferably something very commercial and easy to like (the Jedi: Fallen Order type of game) to avoid controversy and regain good will. Sony can't allow to jeopardize one of its top internal developement teams. One for them and one for you is what I would tell Naughty Dog if I was Hermen Hulst.

TLOUII sold 4 million in three days, that's the fastest selling sony exclusive launch ever, of all time. Period.

Think about that for a second.

You really think Sony is in a position to tell Naughty Dog anything at all?

Sony owns and funds Naughty Dog so I would say yeah.

No, Naughty Dog just made a game that is highest selling exclusive ever on the PS4. As someone who works in a creative industry I can tell you with absolute fucking certainty - the creative runs the show, not the money holder. Naughty Dog basically just handed Sony millions of dollars in profit.

Sony will be kissing the ground Neil Druckmann walks on and showing up with truckloads of money to his house from now on. They'll be on their fucking hands and knees begging him to not go to Microsoft or some other shit. And you better believe that they sure as shit are gonna let him do whatever the fuck he wants creatively for his next project.

I agree 100% that the fire Neil Druckmann narrative is dumb. The last thing Sony wants is watch him go to the competition, although i think Neil Druckmann won't last in the videogame industry for much longer before moving on to writing movies and TV shows full time.

Having said that, TLOU2 sold 4 million copies at launch but is a game with a big budget. Shawn Layden just told everybody the cost of a AAA game this current gen was between 80 and 150 million dollars without including marketing costs. I'm pretty sure TLOU2 is not on the low side of that spectrum either in budget or marketing investment. Let's wait a little longer before assessing how much of a financial success it will be because these amateur calculations (4 million copies sold at 70$ equals 280M$ profits) are truly futile.

Even if TLOU2 sells a gazillion copies (I hope it does) i'm sure Playstation executives would be happier avoiding all the negative press, PR headaches and damage control they had to face for months before launch. As for your statement that creatives run the show in the videogame industry I wish it was true. I really do.

I wish they make a stand alone game about Joel when he was a smuggler set before the events of Last of Us 1. I'm interested to see how he operated and survived during that period.

Youre forgeting the great Naughty Dog legacy wasnt built solely by Neil Druckman

Hes just continuing the legacy brought by Amy Henig and Bruce Straley

Il be more carefull if i were you ( claiming that druckman can do whatever the fuck he wants)

This guy is slowly ruining naughty dog for me

More seething hate is not better... But enjoy, I guess.

I don't hate Cuckmann at all, he is entitled to put his politics in his games.

And we are allowed to say those politics are dumb and make fun of them.

Everybody is happy. Except well, people like you.

"Happy" is not the word I'd use to describe your posts, but if you say so....

Something new and modern

Naughty Dog's gameplay and level design feels so dated, stuck in U2/TLOU1 structure. I hope they take their next title as an opportunity to refresh things and modernize their gameplay department.

As for a setting, I'd go for either SciFi or Fantasy, should work well in a adventure game, just make it more open ended, build interconnected levels around a hub like Dark Souls 1 or something like that.

Just ditch the fucking corridor>walk>combat arena>walk loop

Something like Firefly/Cowboy Bebop would be rad.
TLoU part 3 with Ellie finding her humanity would be cool too, it's setup already.

But i'd prefer a new IP tho.

Definitely a new IP, I enjoyed JAK, Uncharted and Last of us. I'm thinking whole new IP maybe in Sci-FI or some kind of Dark mythos type environment like Lovecraft. some IP's I like to see explored in games Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, or Doc Savage.

Uncharted 5 starring Nathan's daughter, a purple haired pan sexual feminist fighting the patriarchy. At one point she lectures Nathan on the evils of toxic masculinity and white privilege.
Then Nathan, Sully, Sam all die.
The game wouldn't be a shooter. Instead you just slowly walk and engage in discussions where everyone agrees with each other. The first of its kind.

Gaming journos will praise it for its boldness. Critics will be called bigots.

Get rid of Druckmann and hire Nikolay Dybovsky in his place. Then give him unlimited budget and full creative freedom.
