What should the new mainline 3D Mario game be called on Wii-U?

It can just be called "Mario". It will be a reboot, featuring hi octane, cinematic and emotional first person action with a heavy emphasis on tiered multiplayer. You will star as John Mario, a grizzled space marine who takes on sinister alien forces with no motivations with his trusty pulse rifle, nicknamed "Yoshi". The two hour campaign will make you feel as though you're watching a major Hollywood blockbuster, with just as much substance. Day one DLC will add John Luigi, and online co-op.

Rated M for Mature.

I actually laughed. I was expecting Super Mario 512.

I would love to see a Mario 64-2. Is there anything better than long jumping into a painting that ripples as you enter it, then hearing "Let's go!"?
 
They could go the different direction and go microscopic.

Imagine 1 big huge jungle stage being a 2x2 lawn grass area etc. Something like "Honey I shrunk the kids"

But with those 3 words being pure fabrication/wishful thinking on my part, I don't see it happening.

Besides, James Pond is probably dead at the hands of cats or pescetarians by now.

Yeah, it has to be Super Mario Universe. Commonly shortened to Super Mario U or SMU.

Super Mario + Wii U + Miiverse = Super Mario Universe.

And yes, if it were Kojima, he'd call it Super Mario UMiiverse.
 
Super Mario U-nderground.

Bowser traps Mario in the center of the earth (but there are dinosaurs jungles and exciting stuff like in Journey to the center of the Earth). Mario has to fight his way to the surface.

Alternatively, Mario is a hipster.

Is NSMBII for the Wii supposed to be really hard? Coz we've been at it for days and only just got to the third course >_>
 
Super Mario pUnyVerse.

Mario is tiny and we basically get a whole game of Mario 3 Big World!!

Edit : Beaten like Romney come november. Though I'm on the fence as to whether I like Super Mario Micro or pUnyverse better...
 
It'll be a reboot of the entire Super Mario franchise.. It will simply be called Super Mario Bros.
It worked for Tomb Raider and Devil MayCry[/spoiler ]

But it was never properly done in 3D. (One world in Mario 64, but too limited visually and one stage in SMG2 but again not exactly Micro).
