What was in your library on your first console?

Sega master system.

I remember having these :

- All the WonderBoy 1-2-3
- Zillion
- Hang-on and that gun game with the animals.
- Choplifter
- Space Harrier
- Govelius

WonderBoy 2 and 3 were both epic. They gave me countless hours of joy.

Well, although the NES was the first console I played it was technically my sister's not mine.
My first console was the Sega Genesis and I had a helluva library by the end of that generation.

Sonic the Hedgehog
Shining Force II
Phantasy Star IV
Light Crusader
Gunstar Heroes
Comix Zone
Earthworm Jim
Ecco the Dolphin
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Road Rash 3
Madden '9? (can't remember which year it was)
Super Baseball 2020

*sigh* So many memories...

Genesis:

Streets of Rage 3
All the Sonic games
Aladdin
Tiny Toon Adventures
Some Richard Scarry game
A Sesame Street game
NFL 98
Eternal Champions
Street Fighter 2 TE
NBA Jam TE
Mortal Kombat 3

The first one I had that I can remember well was the N64. Got it for Christmas in 1998 with Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, and Banjo Kazooie. I love each of those games to death. Ended up with almost all Nintendo and Rare games on the N64.

Super Mario World
Street Fighter II
Top Gear
Super Probotector
Mortal Kombat

Played a lot of borrowed games such as:
tLoZ: A Link to the Past
Mario Kart
Mario Paint
Another World
Aladdin
Adam's Family
Chester Cheetah
other shit i can't remember

I bought my SNES after i had played on PC for years (Space Quest 1-3, Police Quest, Kings Quest, bunch of arcade games...) and i was 13 at that time.

Jeez I can't remember everything...

Atari 2600

- Pacman (never a big fan, at least of THAT version)
- Combat
- Adventure
- Frogs & Flies
- Frogger
- Space Invaders
- Pitfall
- Defender
- Dig Dug
- Joust

.... and probably at least a dozen others hardly worth mentioning.

Somehow I'm not surprised no one has mentioned this one before.

Intervision 2001

Games:
Alien Invaders (Space Invaders clone)
Crazy Wall (or Climber hard to recall)
Video Chess

And a bowling game. Probably called Bowling. So, umm, yeah... that's it.

Magnavox Odyssey

The console's entire library came in the box. Every game had a translucent sheet of plastic that stuck to the TV screen via static electricity. I was 3 yrs old and barely remember any of them. The only one I remember playing myself was Simon Says which had an image of a boy, a girl, a dog, and a cat. ("Simon says pet the cat" and you'd twist the knobs to move your pong blip cursor there.) I vaguely remember a football field, a hockey rink, a radar scope...

NES - didn't have many games:

Super Mario Bros
Duck Hunt
The Legend of Zelda
Bubble Bobble
Contra
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

I think that's it. Most games played during that time were rented or shared among friends.

Looking Back:
It's funny... I'm 47 years old now and at the time (early to mid-80s), my brother and I spent hours upon hours playing these games (and more that I couldn't think of off the top of my head). When I recently tried playing some of these in an emulator, my nostalgia kind of got kicked in the nuts a bit. These games, for the most part, don't hold up and are so basic that it is almost funny how we were so amazed and addicted at the time. I know that it is apples to oranges in terms of what was able to be done back then to today, but even from a basic game play perspective, most of these games are not very good! (or at least not how I fondly remember them!!)

I think that the arcade games I played in the 80s (Tempest, Donkey Kong/Jr,, Q*Bert, Dig Dug, Time Pilot, etc.) hold up much better than what was available on the home consoles at the time, whether it was Atari, Intellivision or Colecovision. I still enjoy those old coin-ops even today when I see them in the wild.

There is no way that my childhood self could ever have imagined what video games would look like 30 years into the future... It is really mind blowing looking at Atari's Baseball vs. MLB: The Show... I think that growing up through all the game generations since the 80s has given me such an incredible sense of wonder at what game companies are doing nowadays. I don't know if my appreciation for games today would be the same without that experience I had in the earliest days of gaming.

System: NES

Games
Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt
Toobin'
Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular
Metroid
Final Fantasy

I had an Atari 2600 (Ms. Pac-Man, Asteroids, Jungle Hunt, Q. Bert, Solaris, and one or two other games I can't remember), but it wasn't really "mine" like the NES was.

Well, my first console was the N64 -

Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Lylat Wars
Turok - Dinosaur Hunter

Extreme-G
Extreme-G 2
Donkey Kong 64
Gsuntlet Heroes
Body Harvest
Top Gear Rally
Castlevania 64
F1 World Grand Prix
Mace The Dark Age
South Park
The World Is Not Enough

However, the N64 was by far not my first gaming system. That honour belonged to the Commodore 64 and by the end of my time with the system, I had around 1,500 games for it. My favourites include -

Flimbo's Quest
Rodland
Champions of Krynn
Curse of the Azure Bonds
The Guild of Thieves
Jinxster

Some really look mini golf game I can't recall the name

Well the library for my first console(nes) is still expanding. I'm somewhere around 150 games. If it was reasonably popular chances are I have it.

NES
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 3
Megaman 2
Megaman 6
TMNT
TMNT: The Arcade Game
P.O.W

- Donkey Kong Country.
- Donkey Kong Country 3.
- Home Alone.
- Super Earth Defense Force.

Atari 2600

E.T. (lol)
Donkey Kong
Space Invaders
Asteroid
Pole Position
Pitfall
Combat
Frogger

Probably a bunch more I have forgotten. So many great games.

Pong.

Included other exciting games available at the flick of an unmarked switch:

Tennis doubles:
Pong with two paddles on a side

Hocky:
Pong with two front paddles, and two back paddles a side.

All paddles moved at the same time, controlled by one circle dial. The player dials are atached to the console itself.

God I hate pong.

NES:

Contra
Legend of Zelda
Metal Gear
Final Fantasy
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mario/Duck Hunt
Mario 3
TMNT
Dig Dug II
Gyruss
Dynowarz
Skate or Die
Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu
Mission Impossible

Tennis
Squash
2 man Squash

Above options with half length paddles.

Sound only worked if you put new D cells in it.....

My dad owned an NES with Duck Hunt, Disney's Adventure in the Magic Kingdom, Super Mario Bros., Robin Hood, and Mission Impossible. The last 2 were extremely difficult and confusing in my young age.

I had an SNES. DKC 1, 2, 3, SMBW, Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger, FFIV, FFVI, Killer Instinct, Super Metroid, LtTP, Super Mario RPG. I feel like there were more, but they aren't immediately popping into my head.

Besides Pong and old computers, my first console is Gameboy (followed by GX4000, NES and SNES)

I've too many games on GB to list them all, but I think the first ones were (not sure of the exact order past the first half dozen)

All the people who have listed their SMS libraries in this topic are badasses. That console was so fucking great.

I had other games too, but I didn't list mine because they weren't the "good" games despite me really liking some of them. My dad was into gaming at that time so he brought home a bunch of games, most of which he chose himself. Other games I didn't list, that most people wouldn't be wowed by, that I still really liked:

Kinseiden
Ghostbusters
Lord of the Sword
Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars
Cloud Master
Cyborg Hunter
Aztec Adventure
Astro Warrior
Maze Hunter 3D

Saturn was my first, I don't remember them all but here are some:

Saturn Bomberman
Daytona USA
Virtua Cop
Virtua On
Virtua Fighter 2
Sonic 3D Blast
Bug!
Battle Stations (This was actually my favorite lol, it was pretty good)

Ha, I can tell you precisely when you got your saturn, since it's clear you got yours with the bundled triple pack.

I had the SMB/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet 3-in-1 cart. Put the Zapper up to the TV screen and pounded my fists on the Power Pad. I was a dirty little cheater.

I was damn good at hurdling with my fists.

As for mine:

NES

Aforementioned SMB/Duck Hunt/Track Meet cart
T.M.N.T
Super Dodgeball
Ice Hockey
R.C. Pro-Am
Micky Mousecapades
Legend of Zelda - Gold Cart
SMB2
SMB3
Operation Wolf
Friday the 13th

Can't remember if I had anything else. I predominantly rented games and most of the above were given to me by a neighbor.

TMNT: Turtles in Time
TLoZ: A Link to the Past
Yoshi's Island
StarFox
F-Zero
Kirby's Dream Course
Kirby Super Star
Super Game Boy (?)

I reget owning Home Alone 2.

Unless you count my single Game and Watch, of which I had Super Mario Bros.

N64:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Zelda: Majora's Mask
Super Mario 64
Super Smash Bros.
Goldeneye 007
WCW/nWo Revenge
WCW Mayhem (lol)
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
WWF No Mercy
Mario Golf
Mario Party
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Madden NFL '99

I think that's all. We did a lot more renting back then.

My parents had an Atari 2600 that included Bowling (my favorite as a very young child) and Pac-Man. I think we also had basketball (which I remember being 1 on 1 - maybe it was like Dr. J vs. Larry Bird or something?) and Space Invaders.

My first console that I asked for and my parents were kind enough to buy me was the NES, and I only had Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, The Legend of Zelda II, and Gotcha. Anything else I played, I rented with allowance money.

NES

Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt
Super Mario Bros. 3
Dr. Mario
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
Total Recall
Nightshade
Captain Comic
Blades of Steel
Power Blade
To the Earth
NES Play Action Football

I think that's all the games we owned at our house. I played and borrowed a lot more games from friends like TMNT III, Mario 2, and Kirby. After we got an N64 my brother sold the NES and all our games to Gamestop for 20 something dollars. I'm still mad.

I don't count the 2600 that we had in my house since that belonged to my dad.

My first console was the NES. I think this was the list of games I had. Probably forgetting a bunch. I'm including games that my younger brother got as well, since we practically shared all of our games anyway. I'm not including games I got used after I got my Genesis or SNES. Because I'll be here all day listing games, as I regularly took advantage of Funco Land early on. I also came into a couple of large game donations from previous NES owners who no longer wanted their old games sometime around that point and I'm not including those either. These are just games I bought(or in most case's, my parent's or other relatives bought) brand new in shrink wrap.

Mega Man 5
Mega Man 6(got this way late when I bought a top loader)
Kirby's Adventure(got this shortly after that)
one of those 4-in one gold carts that had Dizzy the egg and Linus Spacehead.

It seems like I had a lot of games(and I did), but I also kept on buying them well into the Genesis and SNES' life. I was probably in high school when I finally stopped buying NES games(because they just weren't making them anymore).

Truth be told, I never stopped playing my NES. My original unit is still working to this day and I'm still enjoying it :)

I had many consoles but they were really my older brothers but my own personal console that was fully mine was the PS1. I had :
FF7
Tomb Raider
Crash (whole series)
Madden
Nba
Fighting force
FF9
Tenchu
Syphon Filter
Metal Gear
Resident evil 2
Gran Turismo
Cool boarders
And hella demo disc
