I dunno what Radiohead song it was, but my brother played Radiohead when we shared the same room as kids. It blew my mind. I think it was when I saw a live performance of Idioteque that really changed my perspective on music though. Most of the music performances that I've seen before had absurdly good looking people doing perfectly choreographed dancing with pitch perfect musical performances. But I was looking at was a fairly normal looking bloke throwing himself into the music, not caring whether he looked cool or not.

That particular performance is still a massive inspiration to me, and probably was what gave me the strength to start writing my own music. It told me that you didn't have to be a perfect looking person with the perfect body and voice to write and perform great music.

Sonic Youth was also a really important band in my life, and the song that I listened to first was 100%. The song that really got me into them was Schizophrenia though. I listened to them mostly because I heard their name getting thrown around so much by music fans. I don't listen to them or like them nearly as much as I used to, but their guitar work massively influenced the way I approached guitar.

"Misery Business" by Paramore

First heard it in Guitar Hero: World Tour, fell in love with it, fell in love with Paramore, still my favorite band 9 years later.

Greatest song of all time.

STP's set on Unplugged, particularly Big Empty. Bought that CD that summer, then quickly went after everything they did. Scott's vocal range on that song was amazing.

Soundgarden - Rusty Cage from Road Rash. Totally did not expect a game to turn me onto my favorite band of all time.

Brand New - Millstone
a melancholy song that I first heard at a time of my life where it just resonated with me.

Coheed and Cambria - Blood Red Summer
Hehe, my PSP came with a music video for this song. Ended up exploring more of their stuff and got hooked!

Rage Against the Machine.

They were the opening act for Porno For Pyros, Perry Farrell's band after Jane's Addiction. It was an open air concert at Lake Castaic, juts outside of L.A. It was in 1992 and nobody knew who they were. But they totally stole the show. We were all looking at each other like wow we have to remember these guys!

Founds a video but not sure if it the same performance, but it is close.

EDit, I found the whole performance and the right one! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSmJKptDhsI

Evil by Interpol, used to be on XFM all the time when me and my brother were driving around London delivering sports papers to the betting shops at like 3am

Best days of my life

"You" by Bad Religion, from Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2

Only 10 years old and I knew the lyrics separated them from other punk bands. A lot of the vervose, outspoken punks defined my teenage and early adult years.

I mean, not a band, but 2pac - Changes in Junior High was what got me heavily invested into music, seeking out as much of it as I possibly could. It was an older friend of mine that put me on to it, which lead to me putting everyone else on to it. (it mostly about hip-hop at first, but quickly expanding to all genres).

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees is the song I needed to hear from them to finally dig in deep. (had some issues initially)
