www.merqurycity.com. ssx fansite. it was pretty dope. i got banned for spamming the shit out of the forum with another dude named funkydawg76. we posted like 1000 times in an hour or 2 lol. i was like , 12.

edit: looking through some older posts....and cringing soooo hard.

When the boobs are too big, they make the girl look trashy. When they're too small that means they're in good shape, so they're long lasting, if you catch my drift.

All in all, I like nice sized breasts, B to C cup.

*shudder* no wonder I was a virgin then.

You know, I think it might have been on the Zelda Classic forums. Could be wrong though, my childhood memory sucks for some reason.

Serebii.net forums back in, I think 2003 or 2004.

That forum was mostly terrible. Full of kids and weirdo Pokemon RPers. The mods were pretty bad too. There's this one user there that I see posting on GAF now who also posted on that board (No, it's not Serebii the owner) who was like the biggest fucking weeaboo you'd ever read from. People would be talking Pokemon and using their english names, and mind you, this was already a while after Ruby and Sapphire came out. This dude continued to use the Japanese name for evey single Pokemon and would only use the Japanese names of the characters from the anime when talking with people, even with him not bwing Japanese at all. Super annoying.

Lambgoat (hardcore and metal site). After that, Gaf's emphasis on quality moderation was like a breath of fresh air.

Othere than newsgroups, I think diheard game fan might've been the first, but it wasn't anything like message boards that came later in the 90s. I also spent a lot of time on the planet/GameSpy sites and Old Man Murray.

I was also traumatized by early TWoP

Dawson's Creek recaps ftw.

Actually, that was another early forum I was really into... the Dawson's Creek fan forums. Boy, those boards turned into a bloodbath between Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Joey. Biggest fan civil war I've ever seen...

I had accounts at a few Pokemon-based forums like Bulbagarden, UPN and Serebii back in the very late '90s - early '00s, but the first forum that I actively participated in and felt part of the community was Bungie.net from Halo 2 heyday until they revamped the website about a year or two back.

I go nowhere but here now, everywhere else frightens and confuses me.

Gametrailers

around 2007 or 2008.

The big rework of the site annihilated most of the community. Haven't been back since. From what I can see, it's pretty much dead at this point. Can't believe a site update actually killed it.

Probably a "private" WoW server forum. good friends were made

Not counting Usenet, I went IGN -> TeamXbox ->GAF. I've posted only on GAF (and briefly on two GAF offshoots) since 2002.

Not a website, but Prodigy had a message board service in the mid 90's. Had topics like video games and music which I frequented. After that, I was on what later became IGN. Mostly posted at the Nintendo and Current Events boards. There was an IGN Current Events exodus and some formed their own forum, but I came here. Lucky you.

WoW Off-Topic was pretty fun. There were quite a few funny people to talk to. GAF is easily the best forum I've ever experienced though. Love it here.

I guess I joined a couple? But mostly just flash game sites or gaming news sites that also had forums. If you sign up for an account for the main site and the other uses, then you pretty much also have an account on the forums as well, which I never used. I mostly just stuck to articles and commented on them. I did browse and posted in the IGN forums like twice while waiting for my GAF account to be accepted.

So technically, GAF is my first forum.

BZPower was my nurturing cocoon when I was first getting into internet boards. All the fan-fiction, MOCs, theorycrafting, and art really dazzled me back then. I spent years there before I felt too held back by all of its' rules (for the benefit of kids, and all that).

A Batman website called thdarkknight.ca back in the early 90s, and then barbelith.com in the early 2000s, a website so right on it makes GAF look like a Klan meeting. Unfortunately collapsed under the impossible weight of its own ego.

The CVG forums back in 2001-2003, good close-knit group of brits.

I think gtagaming.com Just checked and it's still going on, same people too. I remember being so hyped up for San Andreas back then.

Those were the days, no I gotta worry about job security and STDs. Fucking life.

Working Design's forums and Quake 2 clan sites. I really got into Torvonnilous's (EverQuest server)EZboard for years and had a ton of fun reading all the server drama.

In a way I kind of miss reading all that nonsense. I'm glad I can still access the Torv board.
