What Will You Do If Microsoft's Console is More Powerful?

I am getting one regardless. Only thing I am worried is how am I going to put Wii sensor bar+eye toy+kinect on my TV.

Will buy it day 1 if I can get a pre-order. Hoping it's drastically different than what Sony showed last night. I don't want to own twins again.

The only way I'm not buying a Microsofts new console is if they don't allow used games. I will say that Sony impressed me with their PS4 so I will now be buying day one. I have to save up a lot of money this year for new systems and games.

Doesn't really matter to me.

I'd rather see them bringing something unique to the table than more raw power.

Does PS4?

Would you still buy one, knowing full well what kinds of pay walls MS is going screw the consumer with? And considering their tactics this gen, paying for timed exclusivity and bullying smaller studios?

At least you are not biased in your opinions....

If I get a console it will most likely be whichever becomes the main platform that developers user. If the PS4 is 20x more powerful than the Xbox720 but being vastly outsold it will not matter as all games will cater to that.

My day 1 launch purchases are most likely over

Probably won't buy it anyway. Microsoft's business philosophy has moved far enough away from my gaming interests over the years. I'll either go back to Sony and/or build a PC.

See the features and games it has.
Sony succeeded on features but failed terribly on games.

I dont get that train of thought, what were people expecting them to show? everything? they have all year and e3 to go shooting there load all in feb wouldve been madness.

It can't really be all that much more powerful, the PS4 is already a decent modern gaming PC. And to me power means nothing, the PS4 doesn't interest me at all based on what they showed - only Watchdogs and The Witness really grabbed me as games I'd be interested in, when there are a number of games coming out for Wii U that I really want.

I'll be buying it, 360 was the first console that was where I did all my gaming as it was pc before that. The PS4 looks very impressive, graphics and the os etc. But looking at some of the exclusives particularly Killzone made me think I'm not missing much not having one.

I like Nintendo games, Japanese games in general, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted.

Therefore, I always buy Sony consoles and Nintendo consoles (Not necessarily at launch. Ive only bought a Wii U at launch). Also note consoles refers to home and handheld.

Halo is about the only MS franchise ongoing that I like. The 720 will be purchased based on whether MS has any interesting new franchises.

For me, in this case it is: Games > > > > Power

Because I'm a fan of Sony's Exclusives and PS Plus is a godsend. And I don't like the way MS is focusing on lately, I still want a Console to play games not an entertainment center (which consist in Services & Apps not available in here anyway).

If the rumors of them blocking used games and always online are true then I won't be getting MS's new console no matter what they show.

Still buy the PS4 because MS's current business practices have completely turned me off of supporting them anymore. And considering the rumours circling the new console, I feel like it will be the right choice.

But what if Microsoft comes out with a more powerful console and showcases games that the PS4 simply cannot match? And what if those games don't just trump the PS4 graphically, but in terms of gameplay, too?

I will buy one day one if that's the case, first party games are key for me though, something more than just Halo and Gears

I'm not interested in Microsoft's first party games, therefore I'm not interested in their console. I'd sooner buy a Wii U.

Nothing. I have no plans to purchase the Xbox 720. Why? Online fees, always online, anti-used games etc.

Personally, I hope the PS4 is indeed more powerful because it is the console that I will buy.

will buy it, if its more powerful. and will then take the backdoor pounding from xbl. im used to it by now :)

by the looks of it, i will change to playstation as main console

This. Also the horrible build quality of their consoles and controllers (mine ALL have drifting left analog sticks) does not give me the confidence to "jump in" next gen.

It would be impossible from a cost POV for the nextbox to blow away the ps4 to the point games can't be ported down. If there is any difference it will be along the lines of 360-ps3 and we all know how that turned out.

As long as the rumors about the nextbox are rumors (no secondhand games), I will be buying both. No need to deny myself to cheerlead for a company.

What I got out of the PS4 news yesterday is that we can expect gaming consoles to basically all be PC architectures with a few minor modifications. Practical performance of the two next-gen systems is going to be pretty similar. Even if one machine is more powerful, few developers outside of first party are going to bother taking advantage of it.

So, basically, it comes down to the games.

With some of these comments, I assume a lot of people here don't have budget limitations.

People have budget limitations, they're probably just not the same limitations you have. This is GAF. A lot of us have owned every console that's ever come out and that's unlikely to change.

I own both the PS3 and 360, and wouldn't change it for the world. Both had enough interesting arcade games alone to make the purchase worth it for me. Add in the inevitable exclusives and it was well worth it.

It's going to have to still have enough games and better features to get my attention though; the latter is going to be very hard to do.
