What would be a system seller for the PS6 (for you)

Launch day would need at least two absolute bangers to make be pick it up.

Bloodborne remake and say a uncharted not by druckmann that is amazing.

Or an Uncharted and say another game of similar to equal quality for launch day and a ratchet that is more fleshed out than the last within the first 6 to nine months of launch.

Assuming the specs are roughly as rumoured, the only thing I need is a somewhat reasonable price. No more than £700 I guess. As for games, I'd be happy with cross gen and upgrade patches for the first year or so.

As for the last time PS had something that really moved the needle for me, I think it was probably Uncharted on PS3. I can't remember if that was the ONLY reason I bought the console, but I know I didn't have one when it came out, and it really appealed to me. PS4 was just obviously the best console, and I got a PS5 at launch.

More than specific games I would like for them to change their policies (hard, I know)

* Use of regional prices like Steam
* Actual sales and festivals like Steam, instead of the same games with only the deluxe edition on discount.
* Better refund policy

Those sort of things.

Exclusive first party JRPG same way Nintendo has with Monolith Soft.

But chances of that happening is…

No single game is worth the price of a console.
It used to be for me.

I followed Monster Hunter wherever it went.

Bought a Wii for Tri, a WiiU for 3U, a 3DS for 4U, the main reason I got a PS4 was for MH World, I got a switch for Rise and then it later released on pc and PS and bought it again on PS (the switch version is garbage) and I was gifted a PS5 so I didn't have to buy one of those.

But MH Wilds changed the series too much imo even if the next game came out on PS6 I doubt I would purchase the console for it.

I never really understood the mockery around Knack. I played Knack 2 and sure it wasn't a masterpiece, but it also wasn't some complete disaster. Crucify me if you want, but I didn't think the non-VR Astro Bot games were light-years better than Knack 2 either. Both are fun little games.
A clone to Crash Bandicoot which is, again, created by the same studio. These journalists/ reviewers are predictable and they hate being called predictable, it's not a secret.

Price and entry fee more than any single game to be honest. The membership is killer and reducing in value every year. This generation has been terrible compared to previous. Maybe it's age, maybe it's the state of gaming. But the magic is fading.

I say that when our home has a PS5 and a Pro. I'd be all for some family subscription so we don't have to double up.

I'd like some more good single player cinematic games, like Sony was known for.

Whatever team Asobi is making I guess. But I'd basically be buying the PS6 for third party games. The majority of Sony's first party blows.

bring back old IPs, legend of dragoon, legend of legaia, i wish those two rpg had sequels or became series
new killzone, maybe modnation : )) I like that game back then.

Huh, I didn't know Legend of Legaia was a Sony game. Yeah, they should make a sequel to that. That game was cool and different

I'd be much more interested in the PS6H if it had a open bootloader so you could sideload e.g. SteamOS on it. Never going to happen though.

I have a large library on Playstation, so I'm already invested and will be picking up the PS6 regardless.

However, I would like to see;

Bloodborne remake
Killzone
Colony Wars
Wipeout
Syphon Filter

Sony have a goldmine of IPs. Time to start using some of them.

I would need to see them do a 180º turn on their game development strategy: way way less California shit, way way more Japan stuff.

Earth Defense Force 7 that starts a new arc (4.1 and 5 and 6 felt like a trilogy almost)

Vanillaware's next game if it was an exclusive
Also this, but I don't see third parties ever going back to being console exclusives. Why would they.

Motorstorm + Wipeout + Gravity Rush (by Team Asobi and "AAA" budget) + A complete rework of their ecosystem (it should be as invisible (seamless) as possible), including their online (PSN) infrastructure with more stuff for free, like online play and cloud saves. And the console for $399.
And some strategy first-party games would be neat. Like a Sony version of Advance Wars or Fire Emblem.

Honestly nothing. Day by day I am moving away from gaming and can't justify 800$ price tag in my country.

Maybe an exclusive Arkham-esque Shadow of Mordor sequel. or if next God of War is really really fucking good. Otherwise will stick with PC.

A new Wipeout would be a big incentive also would like a new Ratchet, Sony should fire the Drunkman and rehire Hennig and make a new Uncharted more like 1 to 3 and forget 4.

They should expand Asobi and bring back Japan studio they made many cool games like Puppeteer.

With all the news about PS games no longer on PC, the looming PS6 updates and the ongoing discussions about PlayStations first party output..I wanted to ask two things?

1.What would be a system seller for you on the PS6? (This can be games, policies, software etc)

AND

2. When was the last time you felt PlayStation had something that could really moved the needle for you on selling consoles?

I have owned PS since after 360 so this isn't a console warring thing or anti-PlayStation. Not interested in console warring just general thoughts since the same topics seem to come up a lot online and on this forum.

  • Disc drive
  • Full offline independence
  • Easy backups via USB (like on PS4)
  • No paywalls for basic feautures
  • (more nice to have) Fully customizable UI, PS5's UI is trash. Give back XMB
This would be day1 for me.
I don't really mind THIS or THAT game, games will be fine in the long term I guess, but if they keep their attitude they can keep their PS6

The Last of Us Part III. But we know it isn't happening, so I guess nothing. I've been a core PlayStation fan since the Japanese launch of the PSX, but SONY just doesn't seem to care about gamers anymore. They're chasing trends instead of staying true to what made fans love them in the first place. I'm done.

Sony firing Herman, bringing back shu to finance 100 small teams making ps6 exclusives with the sort of budget they just spaffed at bungie…so around 30mil ish on average per game.
Interesting that you say that. That's basically what Apple did with one billion dollar fund for Apple Arcade. Get 100 indies at $5-10 million each. Then they funded $500 million worth more before they stopped doing it.

That's a strategy you use to push a game subscription. So it's something I expect MS to do instead, well they technically are already doing it, with the Day 1 launches, just that content isn't permanent.

At this point, only if they made it a pc/console hybrid, with proper PC qualities like the ability to format it and install whatever OS i want without limitations.

PS3 backwards compatibility, with system-level forced AF x16 ala Xbox, and resolution and framerate unlock options (a simple warning would suffice). This would also work on the PS4 library.

SOCOM collection Remaster. Mark of Kri reboot, Legend of Dragoon 2, FFVII remake, Chrono Break, Jak & Daxter, Zone of the Enders, PS HOME VR, The Getaway, Killzone, Resistance…

Will buy it anyway cause i play everything on PS4/5 already, about 4500 games in that ecosystem with most AA/AAA games on disc. I just hope games will still release on Disc.

Not surprised to see people ask for exclusive games from third party multiplat series lol. What is the fucking point nobody knows.

How about asking Sony to actually make something decent on their own ? They can maybe release a game between two hardware/subscription price increases.

£800 for a PS5 Pro?

Not a chance. There isn't a single game on the platform that would make me drop that kind of money on a console.
PlayStation has completely lost the plot with its pricing and direction, and the brand just isn't what it used to be it's full of woke/DEI crap
Just look at the single players games on the horizon Girl Boss god of war ... Fuck off.

I'd rather put that £800 towards a future PC upgrade or even a holiday.

Some very ambitious and impressive first-party exclusives that will never be released on PC, that really pushes the system to the max and are very, very optimized. Also, disc drive and a heavy focus on single player games.

Really happy with how the PS5 Pro plays games, for the first time ever not overly excited about next generation so a PS6 might be a tough sell to me

Fairly interested in the handheld though

None. Playstation made a brilliant effort to make me dislike their IPs.
Theres nothing for me in PS6. PS5 is my last Sony console and is focused on third party titles.

- Focus on single player and co-op games
- Days Gone 2-3 or new similar games from Bend Studios.
- Bloodborne Remastered, Remake, sequels
- Let Team Asobi cook. Give them more resources and let them release many creative ideas. Maybe collection of games.
- BC support and a magic framerate boost that fixes 60fps for PS4 games without patches. Or fix 60 fps for: Bloodborne, The Order, DriveClub, Gravity Rush 2, Mad Max, RDR2, etc)
- Legacy/Emulation improvement: Get rid of all PAL/50hz titles and fix 60-120fps, better upscaling and QoL-improvements on the emulation. Maybe use AI for adding translation to non English instead of offering inferior PAL-versions
- If relaunching PSVR3, fix remasters for all popular PSVR1-2 games.
- New, well-made singleplayer exclusive games with original story and gameplay. Could be shorter games.
- Let Naughty Dog cook but let maybe let them release a bunch of shorter story-based 3rd person games made with AI-support.
- PS6 hardware: Better quality PSU = quiet console with no coilwhine. Heatsink solution from SMH Smart High Tech? Support for DualShock 4 (PS4 controller is my favourite). Also launch a new smaller DualSense Mini alternative which is more alike to DS4.
- Locked 120fps modes for most PS6 games, especially simpler games
- Ray tracing not that important perhaps.
