HDMI support, surround sound, and native cart support is enough for me, on top of a selection of classic games.
Never going to happen. The best you would get is doubled output over four channels.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Because:
1. Cost. Not everyone wants to spend four times the price on a Wii U when they just want the retro games. A low cost also works as a gift incentive - I'll be buying the nes mini as a Christmas present for sure.
2. form factor. The Wii U is a Wii U. Playing retro titles on a console that looks like the real thing adds to the authenticity in a way that can't be matched. That's why I was able to sell two raspberry pi consoles built inside SNES shells for £130 a time.
3. Nostalgia. Ties into my above point, and will catch the eyes of people in store who otherwise wouldn't be interested in something like the Virtual Console.
that would be a trick since it doesn't exist lol
When has Nintendo not been cashing in on nostalgia? The big deal is that Nintendo is cashing in on Nostalgia. People aren't going to buy a Wii U for any reason anymore, let alone old ass games. 3DS sales continue to slow. So you put together a cheap nostalgia console, you can make some money riding the Nostalgia horse while you get your shit together on NX.
That is a real game. You never heard of it?

??? I rented Turbo plenty of times back in the day.not on the snes
I don't get this, what's the big deal? They use the same emulation software that they use for VC on the Wii U right? It's not like you can't play these game anywhere How about just releasing an actual snes controller for the Wii U/NX and call it day. I'll buy the individual games that I want to play.
That is a real game. You never heard of it?
Your first point makes some sense, except that it's extremely limiting. Yeah, it's only 60 dollars but you only get the games that are on it and that's it. You have no way to buy more games or tailor it so you can only get the games you want. I also don't really agree that many people just want the retro games. Those people probably own an NES or have emulated the games else where. I don't think many people have been waiting until 2016 to play these games because they had no means to do it until now. I also don't think that there a ton of people who would be interested in something like this, that don't at least own a Wii or a Wii U or plan to buy an NX. I think they will sell some because it's cheap and cute novelty gift but not much nore than that. As far as your other two points again, I think they will sell some for novelty reasons but I don't see that hammering home the sales.
Just my opinion though.
Aren't some legal reason reasons preventing Starfox and Yoshi's Island from been re-released? Not expecting those two.
Kirby Super Star and Super Mario World for sure.
Never going to happen. The best you would get is doubled output over four channels.
Tough choices. If they can get third parties on board, I think pretty much all the games I'd want on it are covered.
Not on the SNES, SNES only got Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers as the latest SF2 entry.
The first and main port is for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (titled Street Fighter II Turbo) released on August 1993. An update to the SNES version of the original Street Fighter II, this version includes all of the content of both the "Champion Edition" and "Hyper Fighting" updates (made selectable in the main menu) and an adjustable speed modifier. This version was digitally re-released for the Virtual Console of both Wii (on June 25, 2007) and Wii U (on August 22, 2013).
Oh, I'm not particularly well-learned on the audio side of things.
nope. SNES got this
AND this
FSLink said latest. SSF2 was the last snes release in the SF2 series.
Realistically I'd expect a $60 SNES mini to probably boast less games. Maybe 20 and they'd probably be pretty general in appeal with established emulated releases, no super deep cuts or Super FX here. Say something like:
No Square would definitely be a shame, The golden age JRPG's are a large part of the appeal of the SNES for a lot of folks.
With Nintendo re-releasing the NES this November, many fans have shown their desire in a SNES classic console.
If this were to happen, what games and or features would you want in this console?
Me: I want wireless controllers, both AV and HDMI support, but if it's only HDMI I would be okay.
As for games, I'm looking at these 30:
Super Mario All-Stars (Probably a given)
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Metroid
NBA Jam: Tournament Edition
Kirby Super Star
Earthbound
Super Mario Kart
Mega Man X
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Pilotwings
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Final Fantasy IV
Illusion of Gaia
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Chrono Trigger
Star Fox
Actually can't think of anymore. I've played more than this, but I don't think they should be on a collection like this.
Thinking realistically about it (so no licensed games, sorry Turtles, sorry Star Wars) it's a little tricky to reach 30. And a large amount of the games would be Square's, with the two FFs, Chrono Trigger, Mana and the Quintet games.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Super Turbo was even released on the SNES.I'm aware some of the games on my list may never happen (SuperFX Chip, licensing) but anyway...
My 30:
Super Mario World (Or Super Mario All-Stars...)
Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Star Fox
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Mario Kart
F-Zero
Kirby's Super Star
Kirby's Avalance
Tetris Attack
Super Punch Out!!
Super Mario RPG
Final Fantasy II (IV)
Final Fantasy III (VI)
Chrono Trigger
Mega Man X
Mega Man X2
Mega Man X3
Final Fight
Earthbound
Super Castlevania IV
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Mortal Kombat II
Gradius III
TMNT: Turtles in Time
Contra III
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
??? I rented Turbo plenty of times back in the day.
Why are those unrealistic? The Turtles NES game was on the Wii VC and Super Star Wars saw a PS4 rerelease.
I'm shocked the NES one got two Square games. Well one Square and one Taito. No Square would definitely be a shame, The golden age JRPG's are a large part of the appeal of the SNES for a lot of folks.
Imagine the Snes version of this with 30 titles:
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Zelda: Link to the Past
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Super Metroid
Pilotwings
Earthbound
F-Zero
StarFox
Super Mario All-Stars
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario Kart
Super Punch-Out!!!
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VI
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Contra 3
Super Castlevania IV
Turtles in Time
Mega Man X
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
ActRaiser
Final Fight
Final Fight 2
Mortal Kombat 2
Illusion of Gaia

Add:
Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 5 (though technically this and 4 never got English releases on SNES)
Kirby's Dream Course
Kirby's Dream Land 3
F-Zero
SimCity
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
Seiken Densetsu 3 (in my dreams if we're counting J only releases)
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
R-Type 3
Gradius 3
