Whatcha been playin'? July 15th Edition

I just finished up an Ys marathon, wherein I played all of the regular Ys games (no remakes) up to Ys 6, then ending with the above (Ys: Oath in Felghana). I'll probably take a run through Ys 1 and 2 Eternal next, and then be done with it. I won't play Ys Origin since I spent so much time on that game not too long ago (December).

Guilty Gear X2 #Reload has gotten nearly all of my gaming attention since it was made backcompat during E3. Man, I'd forgotten how much this game freakin' rocks. There are some tiny sprite glitches, but it mostly plays as well as it did on the Xbox. And this time around I can use the custom soundtrack feature, albeit only if I start the music before the game itself. Whatever works, yo.

I've gotten pretty rusty, so I'm going to try and focus on one character for now, Bridget. He's quite possibly my favorite character in any 2d fighter, ever.

<3 Bridget.

Paper Mario! I am almost at Dry Dry Desert, which was where I stopped playing back in 2001. How could it be that long ago! I didn't stop cuz the game stopped being fun or anything. I just got so hooked on PSO I didn't do anything else for a few months...So now I plan on finally finishing this game.

The Bigs! I love arcade baseball. I'm still not used to the fielding, but everything else is really great.

Project Sylpheed! I haven't played a PC space shooter since Tie-Fighter. For a good 10 year period I didn't have a PC that could run games worth a damn and in the interim the genre kinda died. So I wouldn't be surprised if this game doesn't hold a candle to the classics. But Sylpheed has so many colors and the music is kinda PSO-y and that + space dogfighting makes me all nostalgic so I don't really don't care. Diiiig it.

Resident Evil 4: Wii edition: moving right along to a second professional playthrough, and earning 5 stars on Mercs with each character.

Earth Defense Force 2017: this game is so much fun! I think it could've been a hit if they'd used 'fake' bugs (a la Starship Troopers) instead of giant ants and spiders. It would've helped the presentation go from goofy to cool.

Daigasso! Band Bros (aka Jam with the Band, US name even though it never came over): this is the best music game out there, I've been playing it a lot again recently after a lull.

Super Stardust HD: I think I'm done with this after hitting 200 million. It takes too long to ramp up to be challenging, and I'm just not willing to play for 2 hours to try and top my score. It was fun while it lasted, though. Maybe I'll get some more play out of co-op this weekend.

Virtua Fighter 5: I just picked this up 'cause Fry's had it for $30. I'm not a hardcore fighter, though, so to me it's just Virtua Fighter again. I'll probably beat it with each character and lose interest, maybe get some play in with friends.

Wii
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition (Just promoted to Soldier)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Recruitment)
Battle Lode Runner (Puzzle 36)
Punch-Out!! (Final circuit)
Kid Icarus (1-4)

Blazing Lazers (damn boss rush)

PS2
God of War II (Medusa's Temple)

DS
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All! (Case 3)

GBA
Kuru Kururin Paradise (Post-game)

Mobile
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved Mobile
God of War: Betrayal
Super KO Boxing!!

Finished it last night. 3rd time, I believe, and first in a number of years. Only took about 11 hours. The story is sure simple and bare bones. I had forgot. Similar styled or themed events that typically take an hour or two in Suikoden were broken down to mere moments, even the potentially most sad or epic scenes. I can see why it was so forgettable. I'll likely look on it more positively, though. I liked that it mostly devoid of doses of childish wackiness like Suikoden typically always contains now.

Considering finishing this now. I've had it since the port release, but I always lose interest in the story.

And I've gotta say, it's not making me too hopeful for KZ2.

Best not to to think of the original KZ when it comes to the, at least initially odd, hype for KZ2. The sequel's at least looking to be great, but the original was a snooze of a FPS that had some nice ideas that just weren't fleshed out.

NGC: Metroid Prime ... I want my 2D Samus back ...

PS2: Okami ... just beautiful ...

Neo Contra should arrive in a few days, also thinking about a LTTP-purchase (Killzone). KZ2-footage hyped me straight to heavens. :D

Let's see...

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Pokémon Pearl
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All
Mazes of Fate
Planet Puzzle League
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
The Pinball of the Dead
Golden Sun

Not necessarily all in a day, I'm alternating between some of them.

360 - TMNT, started an hour ago, will finish in another two, joy!
Wii- G1 Jockey Wii Edition :D
PSP - Puzzle World
Mobile - Tower Bloxx

Replaying

PS2 - Guitar Hero I
SNES- Turtles In Time
Mega Drive - Streets OF Rage 1, 2, 3
Mega Drive -Aladdin

I picked Xenosaga III back up to fill the gap before Guitar Hero 80's, and man was the GAF love for this game ever unjustified. Whoever started that thread saying it was better than FFXII needs to go back to their psychiatrist and have their dosage increased.

Never played too much of FFXII so I can't say if it's better, but XSIII is one of the best console RPGs I played last generation. The beginning is just really slow (but I still liked it).

Pretend the original Killzone doesn't even exist, imagine Liberation is the beginning of the franchise and you'll be excited again

Wii:

RE4: Wii Edition
Wii Sports

360:

Gears of War (mainly mp and some co-op)
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
DiRT
The Darkness (Hard Mode)

Finished Ninja Gaiden Black over the past 3 weeks... Now I'm addicted to All_Pro Football 2k8 and am really hoping to get some more time in on Chromehounds..

A little Lost Planet, Resident Evil Wii and Rainbow 6 Vegas as well...

I finished Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door yesterday and I'm now playing Resident Evil 2 (for the first time) on the gamecube.

Nice, I love this series... I just picked up Ys Origin and Ys: Oath in Felghana recently so I will be getting to work on them shortly.

Okami. About 20 hours in and I'm starting to get bored. Awesome visual style, but it's basically a Zelda clone with annoying voice gibberish.
