Whatcha Been Playin'? Occupy Skyrim Edition

I got Skyward Sword on Nov 22 and played it exclusively until two days ago. I beat it, started a new game and got about halfway through it, then I went back to my first file and finished up all of the sidequests; got all the Goddess Cubes, got the best shield, got the last few Gratitude Crystals, etc. I was going to replay WW and work on finishing OoT 3D, but I'm pretty burned out on Zelda now. Last night I finally cracked open a copy of Bully Scholarship Edition I've been sitting on for a while. I played it for a couple of hours, don't know if I will continue. It's pretty cool, but man... it's so rough around the the edges in many ways. I should've played it a long time ago.

Finished!

In dungeon 6 I'd say. About to get
the third flame.

Taking my time with this one, the game is just so great to look at on PC. Currently trying to
find Mr. Freeze.

My 3DS got some serious loving this week.

Having not played a Mario Kart since Double Dash, I'd been wanting to jump back in. Man did I pick an excellent time to do that. MK7 is an almost perfect Mario Kart game. If the item spam was toned down just a bit, I wouldn't have any major complaints with the game.

Easily the best game currently on the 3DS eShop. Intelligent Design knocked another one out the park. It's such a simple design yet the puzzles quickly become devious. I clocked in way too many hours last night and got halfway through the puzzles.

And then there's the user created puzzles. Check out the |OT| for this game. The OP has the GAF created ones, but later in the thread, someone posted some puzzles created by people in Japan. They're a treat just to look at, and I bet most of them will actually be fun/tricky to solve.

I believe everyone who owns a 3DS and likes puzzle games should buy this. It's only $6.99, and should last anyone a good amount of time.

Got this from the GAF Secret Santa. Yep, it's fun. The animation quality is superb, and I love the unique gameplay. I've already gotten to Chapter 7, and I would be farther if MK7 and Pushmo weren't screaming for my attention.

what I have been up to on steam.

Call of Duty: MW3 (360) - Playing mainly MP and Spec ops missions, enjoying the game a lot despite it's various problems.
Gears of War 3 - Horde, Alpha Playlist and 3rd Solo campaign playthrough on Insane.
Batman: Arkham City (360)- Already finished the main game and now doing some riddler hunting, I'm at 304/440.
LoZ: Skyward Sword - Planning to start this one tomorrow and I must say that I'm pretty hyped about it.

While I'm waiting for my Uncharted 3 copy to arrive from zavvi and while my backlog is growing I'm thinking to buy a 3DS mainly for Super Mario 3D Land, Ghost Trick & Chrono Trigger. :P

Just finished Metroid: Other M for the first time in around a year. A great game in my eyes that is unfairly punished for what it isn't rather than appreciated for what it is.

Will continue with Super Mario 3D Land and finally start on Skyward Sword over the weekend.

Trying to just stick to one game at a time, and it's been working out well.

Super Mario 3D Land (3DS) - Loving this. Some levels are easy, but getting all the Star Medals in each is fun, creative, and in several cases so far, a decent challenge. Looks and sounds beautiful. Not sure where all the hate and major GAF disappointments are coming from, but whatever.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS) - Just finished this a few days ago. Great game. While it was a bit heavy on the fetch quests, and doesn't stray far from the standard series formula, I really got into decking out my train and doing as many of the sidequests as I could before the final battle, which was a lot of fun. Good challenge, and excellent dungeons/bosses, too!

On deck:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (PC)

Just Zelda Skyward Sword, Mario Kart 7, and Golden Sun Dark Dawn.

Also casually playing through some ios titles like both Infinity Blades, WELDER, Jetpack Joyride, and Epoch.

World of Warcraft - Just getting up to raid spec and now tanking alot to get bags to try and get some rare mounts.

Mario 3D Land - Actually to me, this is easily the best piece of software from Nintendo this year, easily tops Zelda for me.

Skyward Sword - Didn't grab me like TP did, and I don't like the art style.

Halo Ann.

All this of course isn't important, I get Gundam Extreme VS in the mail today and I'm going to be all over that for the rest of the year.

Modern Warfare 3 - I am playing the multi, haven't finished the single. It is a quick game for me to jump in, play a few matches then leave. Playing objective-based games pretty much exclusively. When you get two teams actually going for the objectives, it is a nice thing.

Saint's Row the Third - Another game for me to pop in and pop out of pretty easily. I like it, but it isn't the tour de force everyone seems to act like it is. I am enjoying it though.

Skyrim - Haven't played it in a week or so, everytime I play, I get sucked in for 4-5 hours. I just haven't had the time to do that again. I really do love the game though.

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer is so addictive, been playing conquest alot lately.
Batman: Arkham City Just a few side quests to do, and then riddles and trophies.
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D On the boss of Shadow Temple, going to get the Biggoron sword to beat him with.
Super Mario 3D Land Up to World 3, charming and fun game but it's pretty easy.
Phoenix Wright: Justice For All Up to case 2, going to play this tonight.
Persona 3: FES Going to sink more time into this, been playing it for awhile.
Halo Reach Up to mission 6 in the campaign, starting get really fun.

Took a break from Skyrim as, after a hundred hours, I haven't been feeling the majority of the quests anymore, so I started up a hardcore run of Fallout: New Vegas (PC) with mods and whatnot. About level 26 now, just completed the Honest Hearts DLC, which I had a much greater appreciation of the second time through, as short as it was. I love this game. Also messed around with some God Hand (PS2) earlier in the day and had my ass whipped. Not yet sure if I'll do a full playthrough again, but it was a fun change of pace.

I stayed up way too late last night and beat Split Second. There was a point on the final race where I realized I couldn't go to bed because my rage levels were to high and it would be unhealthy to try and sleep like that. The last race is complete bull. The cars are unnaturally fast, their moves are always designed to only dick you over, and any crash sent me to 8th place. That wouldn't be to bad but then things like cars just clipping though me started to happen and I couldn't even block them anymore.

Eventually I had to make my peace with 3rd place being my goal and I finally finished the race. I'm really glad I played the game, but the ending left a bad taste in my mouth. The taste of blood as the game kicks me in the teeth on the final episode and then reaches inside my mouth to pull out anything that came loose.

Witcher 2: Not going to really get into it till after Finales.

DOTA 2: A Game a day to keep the blood flowing.

- Twilight Princess
- Halo Reach
- MW3
- FIFA 12

Oh and a little bit of Skyrim here and there on my bro's PC!

Mario Kart 7 - Playing online and losing badly. Need to do the 50cc/100cc/150cc cups before I do much more online.

The Darkness - Finally played through this and beat it...and I love the story and characters but I absolutely hate the gameplay. Slow, plodding, and all the guns suck.

BioShock (360) - Started this up and....I'll definitely devote more time to this next week.

Still playing Skyrim but taking a break from it (like everyone else).

Wow. Surprised to see the game I've been playing in the OP, considering it's an older title.

Couldn't resist getting Split/Second on PSN for $9.99 last week. I've played it before, but always got frustrated/quit before advancing much farther than 6 episodes. But this week I've really gotten into it. And even though I still hate the god damn "pass the trucks that are tossing exploding barrels at you" events, overall it's a great game with some amazing visuals. I'm nearly at the end and have just unlocked the Canyon track. Holy shit.

This is a great game that a lot of people overlooked.

edit: Good to see I'm actually the 3rd person in the thread to mention having played it.

Skyrim of course
Bastion (yay steam sale)
Pushmo (If you have a 3ds get this)
Super Mario 3d land (and this)
Battlefield 3 (Boy am I turrible turrible turrible)

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer
Call of Duty MW3 Singleplayer
Batman Arkham City - finishing up medals in the challenge maps.
A little bit of Dungeon Defenders on Steam, I haven't really touched the multiplayer as I have no one who plays it on my friends list, but it's pretty fun solo also.
Hard Reset - awesome game.

SM3DL: about to start it, since I finished Skyrim
Batman AC: Loving it, although I'm a bit burnt out of free roaming games
Mario Kart 7: like a drug son, like a drug
Pushmo: a little big gem of a game, perfect for stress relieving moments

That picture is a good example of the final races. Having 3 bars filled, no icons popping up, and being in 8th place.

Puzzle Quest 2
I have an assassin named Ninj@. The @ shows up as * when ever I face off against an opponent. It didn't bother me the first 40 hours I played the game, but now it kind of irks me. GameFAQs says all I have left to do is: Free the Farmer, Escape the Arena, kill The Iron Golem, Free The Prisoners, Defeat the Dark Elven Boss, and kill the Gorgon. Twice.

It really should read: Match 4 of the same colored gems, match 4 of the same colored gems, match 4 of the same colored gems, match 4 of the same colored gems, match 4 of the same colored gems, match 4 of the same colored gems, cast spells, and finish off with a weapon. Rinse and repeat. I now understand why the "Beat the game with all 4 classes" is a Steam achievement that has never been completed by anyone.

My wife and I spent like 8 hours on a Sunday finishing this game. I don't remember the first game being soooo fucking repetitive. Maybe it's because we've already played the first game, and the second game adds very little refinement, that by the end of the second you've put in close to 20+ of fucking matching gems, it's boring as shit. But yeah, after putting in all that time you HAVE to finish it.

Be sure you kill the Ice Dragon, or whatever that sidequest is for the dragon that fills up the map and is the hardest enemy in the game. It's legitimately the ONLY challenge in the entire game.

Challenge? I have sucky equipment (I should have a red mana orb, but I got a purple one instead) and that 130 is how much life I start off with missing each match. After my 5th trap, I finally got it healed and respected so all my points aren't all over the place. I've had a legitimately hard time with this game. If I were to do it over I think it would be a cake walk, but at this point I want it just to be over.

Btw, I am particularly proud this week because I was able to create all three of these screen shots myself. It's the advantage of being the OP, in that I have all the time I want to gather these up though out the week.

Yakuza 4
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors

I'm going through 999 trying to get all the endings now (three so far), and continuing to make my way through both Yakuza and Trails.

360:
MW3
Dark Souls

PC:
Rift
Civilization 4
KOTOR

Debating on picking upi Spyro (I REALLY want to play it) and Skyrim today for 360

Not much to play since I finished Xenoblade and Skyward Sword earlier this week and I won't have access to my console backlog until Thursday.

I have started Hero mode on SS and I may try and get some of my DS backlog done.

The weekend is looking like SS, Radiant Historia, and Time Hollow

Still chugging away at Dark Souls, 60hrs in and loving every minute of it.

Think I'm going to start my crushing run through Uncharted 3 tonight, then I still have to finish Dead Island, Skyrim and Child Of Eden. Resistance 3 is on it's way in the post, my sis has got me Gears 3 for crimbo and I still want to play through Deus Ex again..

Too many games!
