Whatcha Been Playin': One Year Later Edition

n0LT3.jpg

TKVfsl.jpg

InFamous
I got PS+ so that means the now both inFamous 1 & 2 are sitting on my HDD. I decided to give it a spin and fell in love with it. I did all the missions, found all the dead drops, and even completed the game on hard. I rarely bump up the difficulty settings, but Sucker Punch thought I could handle it and I trust them.

6bcff.jpg

Assassins Creed
I beat the game and I'm looking forward to AC2, but I'm trying not to get burnt out.

ezSLU.jpg

Kirby's Epic Yarn
My wife and I have been playing co-op games each night and Epic Yarn was our first of the summer. We liked the no death aspect, but loosing a ton of beads to the first death is always heart breaking. Underwater levels are always the worse.

mJohP.jpg

LBP2
I'm so glad I didn't buy this game. It's fun but the story isn't my cup of tea and it got too hard for my wife and I to continue co-op. I still beat it to show I wasn't skurred.

YxYAC.jpg

Sonic Colors
This is a great sonic game. It's worth a rental, due to its short length, and the cut scenes were pretty funny. Sonic does a lot of talking to robots that don't talk back and it gets weird in a funny way by the end.

6EBvi.jpg

DeathSpank
Another game I just fell in love with. I did all there is to do in DeathSpank and I have t'The baconing' waiting on my wife's laptop for when I'm ready for more.

8e0JN.jpg

Super Mario Sunshine
What the hell, Mario? I thought we were friends. How did you go so wrong between Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy? Your wall jumps are a mess, you miss so many platforms, and you start out with so few lives. Tell me it gets better, please?

VF5
Quick shout out to the 3 button madness. If I were to learn a fighting game, this is what I'd choose.

Space Marine 40K
Repetitive and boring after a while. The ultra violence was a turn off. I quit the game half way through.

Kinect Sports
It's hard to go wrong with a 5$ purchase, but it's harder to go so right. I'm already level 10 and it's taken up residence in my 360 until I'm ready to start AC2.

It's been one year sense I first started doing these weekly threads. It's nice to know that I'm missed when I'm not around. I look forward to doing this for another year. So, Whatcha Been Playin'?

V3WMi.jpg

Diablo III
Been away from it because of a damn cold, but I'm ready to get back in full force this weekend with my DH. First playthrough, taking it slowly and learning the tools of the trade.

KImk8.jpg

Lord of the Rings Online
Will go back to it after a few days off as well. Close to my first 10 hours of playtime, and thoroughly enjoying the new stuff that slowly opens up such as vocations and hobbies. Playing on Crickhollow server.

I just retired from Diablo 3, so burnt out on such a broken game. im looking forward to getting into

pax-prime-2010-portal-2-co-op-screens-delight.jpg

both sitting untouched for a bit.

Battlefield 3 - playing this on PC and it's tons of fun. Except I'm terrible.
Dead Space 2 - need to finish it
Alan Wake - got it at the GF sale for $15 and it looks great. I can't wait to dig in some more.
Crysis Warhead - Crysis is my favorite FPS of this generation and now I have the opportunity to play this semisequel.

Finally reunited with all my game systems. Too much to choose from...and I've got a four-day weekend. Here is what I'm playing or planning on playing:

Gravity Rush (will beat it!)
Espgaluda II
Pikmin 2
A fourth playthrough of Journey GOTY 2012!
Battle Garegga
Trying to play Radiant Silvergun...shit is so hard with all the buttons :-(

Dead Island on PS3

1Wh8al.jpg

Just reached Chapter 14 but I decided to do some side Quests, I can't tell how much I'm enjoying this game, seriously, getting new weapons and leveling is so fun. I have this game since December on my Backlog.

Forza 4, still cleaning my Event List, a lot of Races to finish, not in a hurry.

OPyBzl.jpg

And that's it, been cleaning my backlog for a long time since my wallet is on a money diet.

Started AC: Brotherhood (finally) the other night. I'm about four hours into it, and other than the terrible visuals (screen tearing, texture loading, etc.), I'm having a decent time. I thought AC II was a fun ride and the story kept me interested for the most part. So I'm looking forward to seeing where the follow up takes me.

I'm also playing GTA: Chinatown Wars on my Vita at night before bed. It's a brilliant little game. Really, really enjoying it.

DOQAn.png

Mostly trying to wrap up Ys Origin (PC) this past week. I was in the mood to play for awhile last night, but my power went out until the morning, of course. Guess I'll try to push through the rest today or tomorrow. Also playing a ton of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (PS3) which is absurdly fucking good, even if I am absurdly fucking bad. But you know what? I put some keut cat ears on my Eileen. All is well here. (◡‿◡✿)

Also dabbled in some Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (DS), which is super charming, and finally got over my Haunted Cathedral hump in Thief Gold (PC). Progress, if however small.

url-2.jpg

I got this when it first came out and played about 20 hours, but then kinda stopped playing. Going to see if I can finish it this weekend.

minecraft.jpg

My new addiction.

Mario Sunshine is the one I had the most fun with.

Anyway, I've been playing:
Sega Vintage Collection - Alex Kidd and Co. (mostly Super Hang-On)
Fallout New Vegas.

Been pleased that FNV didn't become the crash-ridden experience that I had with it when I trudged through last year. Almost problem-free, which is great.

I am so, so, so glad you're enjoying Sonic Colours, OP. I love that game a lot!

As for me...

Gravity Rush (Vita)

I beat it a few days ago and I'm trying to go for the platinum now. It's going to take me some time, though, because the game still makes me quite nauseous. It's a decent game. There are some parts of the combat and general movement that I don't like, but damn the presentation is so good. I'm very impressed by that, at least. And Kat is a good protagonist.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (SNES)

I'm still doing my Let's Play-esque thing for the FF Anniversary Thread! I now have quite a bit of time to myself for the next few days so hopefully I can finish that up! I'm almost finished the next entry (it takes little time to play through, but it does take time to compose the posts). You can view my posts here, if interested:

Dark Schala SNES: Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (PS3)

I'd recently played ACII (in April), and I think I'm hooked on the series now. I'd previously played AC1, the PSP game, and the DS games beforehand. But ACII really impressed me with the architecture, the music (holy shit, the music is so damn good), and the alternate history angle in general (plus integration of languages, etc). Loved it a ton and I platinumed it. So now I'm playing Brotherhood. I just finished the first DNA sequence so far, but so far so good.

Hopefully it'll draw me in like AC2 did.

Tales of Xillia - Second Platinum Run (PS3)

Got the platinum on my JP account and I think it's about damn time I got it on my NA account. I just keep taking my sweet time with it because a) I'm generally busy, and b) I have other, newer games to play. I know my way around DR-LMBS and the Lillial Orb system pretty well now, so it shouldn't be too much trouble and it should go faster than my original plat run. It's just that I have to get away from other games to get this done.

And if you're wondering, the Xillia platinum is very easy compared to the Graces platinum, yes.

Diablo III - PC - Just reached hell mode, level 51.

Resident Evil: Revelations - 3DS - Just came in from GameFly, beasting through it, on Episode 8. Liking it a lot more than I expected.

Adventures of Lolo 3 - NES - Been on the backlog for a while, about halfway through from where I left off.

Tales of Graces f - PS3 - Also picking this back up after a month long hiatus, still somewhere in the beginning of the game.

One year later from what? The PSN outage?

For me, it's drowning myself in PKMN games on the go to actually try and catch all the bastards once and for all. Haven't been playing much at home lately, but when I do this weekend, it'll be some of Vanquish and the Pandaria beta.

Right now it's:

Pokemon.jpg

(which is really making me appreciate how zippy and streamlined the HGSS/BW games are by comparison -- holy shit is this game clunky)

Not much this week.

Finally found Pikmin 2 (Wii) at a Walmart. Already got 100% of my debt paid off and working on 100%ing the game. Gonna take a few days break on it. You can get really burned out on this type of game if you play to much.

Been playing lots of Mario Tennis Open (3DS) while walking (yes I play games while I excercise.) and have probably played it around 2 hours while walking this past week. Love the online!

Been playing abit of Wario Land 4 (3DS). Beaten about 7 levels so far. Going back and forth between the 4 worlds and beating the levels way out've order :D

Thats about it. Besides playing Pikmin 2 around 12 hours this past week, I have gotten abit out've games. Been reading more books this past week.

Games I plan on playing next:
Darksiders (PS3)
The Legendary Starfy (3DS)

rage-capsule_616x353.jpg

Bought this when it was really cheap at Best Buy earlier in the year. I like it so far, although I don't like how many bullets you have to pump into enemies to kill them.

nba-2k12-gameplay-news.jpg

Took a break for a couple of weeks, but I decided to come back to it. Still great.

WrathofLamb.jpeg

Decided to pick up the expansion. I liked Isaac enough, so I'm looking forward to getting into this

Radiant Historia - About 16 hours into this; I'm enjoying the timeline stuff. I'm glad Stocke has Solid Snake mode so i can bypass a lot of the (time consuming!?) battles.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Near the end of this, just have The Joker left. Riddle hunting also.

Wizardry:LoLS - Working on the platinum for this, did a few more character playthroughs.

Pokemon White- I am on vacation for ten days and decided to play my first Pokemon game. So far it is very charming...the music is giving me pangs of nostalgia yet I haven't ever played a game in the series before.

Ys 1,2,3,4,6,7, origin. doing an ys series play through and starting with what I've got on the vita. I love short but sweet action RPGs!

Dragon's Dogma said:

Taking a Diablo break and trying to stick to this until it's finished. I'm about to hit level 20, and I'm glad I went back to this game after getting frustrated in the first few hours of it and quitting a few weeks ago. There's definitely some enjoyable elements to this game, and its overall bizarreness is just adding to my anticipation for the game's ending which I keep hearing is really crazy.

IXQpG.jpg

The game I'm playing on my 3DS right now. Such a great pick up and play title and time waster.

kkduE.png

Finally getting back into it. Just heading into the final chapter. Love that monster collecting.

GyloV.png

Farming Inferno with my Demon Hunter, and raising up a Witch Doctor (level 40).

Xenoblade Chronicles

xblade2.jpg

Beat it a few weeks ago — absolutely stunning experience from start to finish. One of those rare and beautiful instances where a game lives up to the hype. I'm still playing it, as there is plenty to do after beating the main storyline.

Final Fantasy VI

final-fantasy-vi.jpg

I've heard a lot about this game, said to be one of the best jRPGs ever made, so I finally got it. I'm only 2 hours in (just got to South Figaro) so I can't really judge, but it's fun enough so far. I can only play it in relatively short bursts though, because random battles tend to get on my nerves.

And of course, Team Fortress 2 as usual.

Just completed Hotel Dusk (NDS) hours ago. Although slow-paced, the tale is absolutely (kinda) realistic and amazing, not to mention great characters too. Currently playing Tomba! (PS3/PSP) right now. Nostalgia kicks in and so does its old school charm. One of the best games in the PSone.

360 or PS3?

I'm about to start this game as well, can't wait!

Also started Shinning Force III (Saturn) and my lord the dialogue is fantastic so far and seems to have a really solid translation.

Xenoblade_box_artwork.png

Been playing this on Dolphin and so far I'm enjoying it. Typical of a game like this, it starts pretty slow, but I'm feeling my way around it.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North co-op with my brother. I picked it up for cheap. Heard not so good things about it, but I like LOTR and enjoyed Snowblind's PS2 games. Couldn't resist when I saw it for a low price.

Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga. I started this some time ago, but stopped playing because I couldn't get into it. Went back to it today, and having a good time with it. A big plus for the soundtrack. Playing a ranger/mage type character. Finished the quest that lets you summon a monster with the Crystal Skull.

Dragon Quest IX. Trying to finish my NDS backlog before Fire Emblem releases. I miss the voice acting from DQVIII, but otherwise enjoyable.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Not very far yet. I saved two kids from a tower, and that was the last thing I remember.I really enjoy the battle system. Turn based, but positioning can still matter.

Neverwinter Nights 2. Playing through the main campaign. Camera is wonky and voice acting isn't great, but it isn't that bad. Can't wait to finish this so I can start with the expansions.

DiabloIII is being played every now and then.

vj8yK.jpg

Battlefield 3 (PS3) - Rush and Conquest.

bREjR.jpg

Uncharted 3: Drake‘s Deception (PS3) - The Lab, TDM, and Team Objective.

Welcome back Anslon.

FM 2012 - got it cheap, fully addicted again. 50 hours over this week... if I'm at home and not asleep, I'm probably on this or...

The Ballad of Gay Tony - really enjoying it on the PC. Limited the FPS to 30 so the abomination of a port is sort of under control.

Oh and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Great fun, though it can definitely feel a bit too much like Burnout at times... but is that really such a bad thing? :P

gaming_lego_batman_2_superheroes_gallery_2.jpg

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes - Mostly been playing this. I've been collecting the leftover minkits. It has some problems like the story is pretty much just about Batman/Superman/Lex/Joker, and the League gets hardly any play. The voice acting is surprisingly good albeit different from what you would expect. The flight is fine for getting from one place to another, but because it's made with a wiimote in mind, it can be a pain to land on a particular roof. The graphics look fantastic, and I love the look of all my favorite DC heroes minifigured. The open world isn't really relevant to the main story, and they even make it seem like end game rather than part of the game. Like, you can't even change heroes until you finish the story. Otherwise, it plays like every other Lego game. I do think that they've been lazy on a lot of these outside of graphics. That said, they're fantastic at fanservice in terms of character selection AND music selection

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Rebought it as an Xbox Original, so I could replay it again. Sometimes the sound doesn't sync up with the cutscenes and that pisses me off considering they should have patched it.

Just ditched Ratched & Clank Future: A Crack In Time. Loved the characters (except for the dumb red robot) and voice acting (it was superb), but the level design was boring and the combat and music were sub-par. Not my thing, maybe I was expecting to much? I hope Overstrike doesn't disappoint, it looks pretty interesting...

Also, just finished VVVVVV yesterday. It turned from a boring game with bad art style into one of my favorite indie and eShop games. I know it's not much, but I got the 20 trinkets! I'm working on the extra levels. Also, dat music.

images

Uncharted 2 has been a blast so far. Time flied when I was playing it! I never felt like that since KI:U. I haven't seen Elena; maybe she isn't in the game at all... I just started the "Dig" chapter and turned my PS3 Slim off because it was a little hot(played nonstop). It should be fine by now.

images

I'm really picky with SRPGS, but even so I took a gamble with Pokémon Conquest and it's been worth it. I'm not that far into the game, as I only got it yesterday and have been a little busy + U2, but I know it will be a great experience.

images

I don't want Art of Balance Touch! to end, so I'm playing it in little bursts. But still, I'm near the last world :( Great, addicting puzzle game, BTW.

I'm currently at a boring part (
Kuja's
mission), so I took a break from it. After (and if) U2's charm wears off, I'll get on it. I want to play it, but I just can't get myself to.

I beat a ton of games recently including Gravity Rush and Journey both of which are amazing. Right now I think I'm making my way through Riviera: The Promised Land since Gungnir isn't available on the Vita PS store.

Muramasa+screen2.jpg

Muramasa: The Demon Blade -- I'm not very far yet, and the menus are still kind of confusing to me (and the map is just eww) but the graphics are absolutely beautiful.

tales-of-the-abyss-thumb.jpg

Tales of the Abyss -- about 5 hours in, started off really slow. Still trying to get the hang of the battle system. First Tales ever.

skyrim.jpg

Went back to Skyrim for some reason.

1633133-box_supermeatboy_large.png

Been replaying this for the past two days now. Got to
Rapture
, and it's starting to get quite hard...

Getting some KoF XIII in tomorrow and spending some time in practice mode for VF5 FS

Planning on playing Corpse Party and some Final Fantasy IV complete edition as well.

If I end up getting a points card tonight I'll probably play through Mega Man X2 and Double Dragon 2 instead.

Pocket Planes and Diablo III. All you need really. Waiting for a Steam-sale to throw money at.

http://raptr.com/VALIS
Feel free to add me.

Diablo 3
Grinding away while listening to music and podcasts. The game looks so much better with the darkd3 mod.

Solitaire Blitz
Addictive golf style solitaire game on Facebook, filled with niggling microtransactions around every corner. I've managed to avoid them well enough until they changed some of the powerups yesterday, and now I want to buy the extra cards power up, but I won't because it's a terrible value at like 25 for $6, if I remember. So I just stopped playing. I'm not against the F2P model, I will and have paid money in F2P games when I'm enjoying myself, just need better values than this.

Team Fortress 2
Never played it before because online competitive FPS isn't really my bag, even though I've played a fair amount of CS:S and Halo 3 online (and UT back in the day). It's good, although I was never crazy about the art style and it still turns me off. Played maybe 2-3 hours. I think I'll keep it installed for a game now and then, but it's not gonna become my new life's passion or anything.

DOTA 2
But maybe this will become my life's passion. Got into the beta today and just finished downloading it. So let's see...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Keep meaning to finish it. It's a pretty fun game, but the missions are starting to get a bit repetitive.

Mass Effect (1) - Hadn't gotten into the series before. I'm liking it more than I thought I would and don't think it feels dated at all. I'm having a blast.

Super Mario Sunshine
What the hell, Mario? I thought we were friends. How did you go so wrong between Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy? Your wall jumps are a mess, you miss so many platforms, and you start out with so few lives. Tell me it gets better, please?

Man, I loved Super Mario Sunshine. It's probably my second-favorite 3D Mario game after 64. The new settings were fun, the new gameplay mechanics felt innovative, and it was genuinely challenging at points.

I feel like too much challenge happens from the bad camera and lack of shadows that help with jumps. Also it has weird wall jump rules. I can't go from a pivot jump to a wall jump.

Added ya. Here's mine.

LostWindsIconRoundedSml.png

Lost Winds iOS - never played this on Wii and it was free the other day :D really fun little platformer with nice music and really pretty visuals. Controls work rather well.

Majoras-Mask.jpg

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Haven't even finished it and I think I may have a new favorite 3D Zelda. Much larger emphasis on interaction with characters than other Zelda games, making it feel more like a point-and-click type adventure at times. The sections between dungeons are strangely my favorite parts and the different character masks bring some appreciated forms of travel (along with the Song of Soaring).

Some enemies seem more annoying to fight then I remember in OOT, but the boss battles are action-packed and less strictly formula-based. Love it. :)

I've been on a two week long family vacation so I have been confined to gaming on my iPad after the kids go to bed and it has been surprisingly great.

Shining Force
Final Fantasy Tactics
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 1
Puzzle Quest 2
Secret of Mana

And a huge variety of quicker, smaller games like Zuma, Plants vs Zombies, Angry Birds, ect. It has been quite fun. The iPad is such a fantastic device to have around!

Metal Gear Solid 2 HD on ze Vita- Forgot how good looking this game is. Raiden still mostly sucks though.

From Dust- Fun and I'm on the next to last level. The path finding for the people though make this game waaaaaaaay more frustrating then it needs to be. Tried some challenge maps and I can see I'm going to have a lot of fun with those.

Kingdoms of Amalur- Love the art style. I was a bit hesitant about starting up another RPG so close to Dragons Dogma. But the action and art have made me glad I've picked it up. Summer is a good time to clear away those RPG's I need to work on.

FIFA 10 - Sim the crap out of it after a S. with Hamburg.

Dead Space 2 - On the hardest diff. going fine so fare, have a shitload of ammo/money to spare.

Brütal Legend - Chasing a big truck and bikers keep coming, i always die think the shit is broken. :(

Metroid Prime - 3h in, and at the "ice" world, i'm beginning to understandthe greatness of it.

Top Bottom
