Whatcha Been Playin': Planned Obsolescence Edition

final-fantasy-tactics-a2-title.jpg

Put like 60 hours into this in the last 3 weeks. This game just has the perfect progression, nice and slow but there is always something new opening up.

Been in the beta for a long time but I'd only really played like one or two games. I'm now trying to pick it up a bit.

And of course I'm still a LoL addict.

I've been continuing my way through Xenoblade. I think I'm a little over halfway through the game.

I've also been jumping back into Persona 2: Innocent Sin. The game is starting to pick up for me where I'm at.

I've been playing Dissidia 012: Duodecim this week as my classes winded down, and now that I'm done, I'm gonna get back into, and finish Mass Effect 3 and start up Final Fantasy XIII-2 this weekend.

Played the entirety of The Walking Dead: Episode 1 the other night and it's just great. I read someone describe it as a better written Heavy Rain and I couldn't agree more.

I finished Limbo last weekend.

Half of the game consists of silly trial and error platforming; the other being physics based puzzles. It's not what I expected and cuts slightly shorter than I would have wanted, but I found some fun out of it. The art style is great and the open ended "story" is amusing enough. It's alright.

playing Diablo 2 again in hype for D3, rolled a sorc for one last race to hell.

also picked Warriors Orochi 3 back up, unlocking more characters than I know what to do with.

might start Skyrim back up this weekend.

I've been playing some The Witcher 2 on 360

Also, some Call of Duty Black Ops on 360 since I've switch platforms for online gaming. Man, I'm SO bad with the 360 controller i'ts not fun. I really need to get used to the controller.

Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland
Decided to hop on and see what the game is like after hearing praise. Going through it very fast because I think it's GREAT! I'm actually going to pre-order Atelier Meruru Special Edition in a few days, even though I'm not even close to beating this.

Meruru is amazing! It's quite heartwarming to see all the cameos from the previous games in the series :).

Nothing. Reading the Elder Scrolls MMO thread is all the entertainment I need at the moment.

Seriously, with my son gone for the weekend, I can steal his 360 hard drive and FINALLY finish Borderlands...

Going to try to finish it this weekend. Love the game, but there are a few things that bug me. (Quest log)

My GOTY so far. The amount of content for $15 is amazing.

Whenever I'm out. Great game.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning said:

Pretty much this. Hit level 17 last night and I think I'm close to halfway through the main story. I'm doing almost every side quest I come across except ones that aren't right for my class (Travelers seems to be the Thieves Guild equivalent, and I'm not putting points in lock picking) but I may try to bash through the main quest over the weekend if I can.

I didn't like the game that much for a while, but now that I have some items with auto-health-regen that's changed a bit. The story is getting on my nerves though. Every major conversation that I've had up to this point has boiled down to "you're different". I hope it picks up. Other than that the gameplay is alright but I'm still not sure this one's a keeper.

I fell into the League of Legends hole...
I am only level 9 at the moment, but feel free to add "Wammut" to your friends list.

Save me Diablo III

I'm loving Zelda:Spirit Tracks right now and I'm close to the end too. Very fun game that is very underrated. Also, I picked up Base 10 for the DS the other day and I'm totally addicted. I hated it at first but I started getting better at it and now I love it!

Started up Sora no Kiseki (Trails in the Sky) FC a few days ago, currently at the start of chapter 3. Gonna marathon the trilogy and then may or may not continue with Zero and Ao immediately after.

Feels great seeing a year and a half of effort letting me play a series I've wanted to for the past 4 years now.

Still trucking along in The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. First time playing through this franchise, and I'm in love. Everything is just so well-done. The dialogue is fantastic, and I even like the combat. I'm actually kind of bummed to hear that they changed the combat for the second one. Aside from a few wonky things here and there, I don't know why I haven't played this sooner. Brilliant game.

Datura_PSMove.jpg

Datura - Played 20 minutes with the Dual Shock last night, starting over today playing with Move only since the DS controls felt far from the responsiveness I feel I could get with the Move.

The Walking Dead
Telltale_WalkingDead_Feb_15-3.jpg

Great stuff, finished it and waiting for ep 2 now.

The Darkness II

Didn't really play it much till a few days ago, had a blast since then, great gun-action, cool story, brutal!

Pinball Arcade

Enjoyable inbetween the bigger games, hope that the Fish Tales machine will be DLC.

Seriously. This game is amazing.

Reaching the end of the game on Persona 3, just about the part I had quit last time, like 5 years ago. Can't believe I dropped it after 60 hours of playing but I did. Really enjoyed the ride and I'm anxious to see the finale. Barely got around half the S. Links and missed the Revival Flag thingies, but it's been great to brush off the OCD and just enjoy it for what it is. My goal is to beat Nocturne and Persona 4 this year.

Both LoL and Tribes been side dishes that I play a couple times, slowly trying to be more skilled at both. Tribes hasn't really hooked me so I'll go back to Payday for my FPS needs any time soon.

also just starting up Nier, which I bought super cheap a couple days ago after hearing too much praise from gaf and a friend.
Nier is great if you approach it with an open mind. I usually get bored of console games easily but Nier amazed, puzzled and finally enamored me and it was probably one of my favorite experiences on the PS3, arguably on par with Demon's Souls. Be sure to read the Nier OT after you beat the game. There's a lot of interesting details and interpretations worth finding there.

The Witcher 2 (360) -

I'd say I'm about half way through chapter 3 and it's my favourite game so far this year.

Bulletstorm -

Spur of the moment purchase. Thought the demo was a bit meh and told myself I would probably rent it at some point in the future. Was in my local Blockbuster on Thursday and they had a deal of the week where it was ÂŁ7.99 so bought it there and then.

Enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. The different ways to kill people are pretty cool, the gunplay feels solid enough and it has some good set pieces. Nice.

What platform are you playing these?

Tactics Orge: Let Us Cling Together - Been pretty addicted to this and making some progress finally, around halfway through chapter 2.
Persona 3: FES - Nearly at the beginning of July, i've been level grinding in Tartarus quite abit.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Loving this game, up to chapter 13 now.
Battlefield 3 Played a few matches after a break from it, it was really fun so i think i'll play some more this week.
Eternal Darkess: Sanity's Requiem From the old GCN backlog, about an hour in.
It's pretty good and has plenty of atmosphere.

Need to get back into Mass Effect 3, Skyrim and Crysis 2 as well.

Batman: Arkham City (PC) - Can now finally continue playing after fixing a progress-halting bug through sheer trial and error. The Catwoman parts feel somewhat dumb and shoehorned in. I'm supposed to pay for more of this? Nearly done, I think;
Protocol 10 just started
. Great game, horrible PC version.

Kingdom Hearts (PS2) - I'm up to Atlantica now. I don't think I'm enjoying this as much as I should... something feels off. Also, Deep Jungle was terrible.

Atlantica was may favorite world in KH1.

Shame what happened in 2 :(.

Getting through the SP campaign. I changed it to "Casual." It really wasn't too bad on Medium, but I want to get through it so I can go on to get destroyed in multiplayer. Haven't played an RTS against people since C&C Red alert, so this should be interesting.

That made me quit KH1. I played them out of order: Chain of Memories, KH2, and then 1. I got so lost and turned around in the Deep Jungle that I called it quits and put the game down.

Haha, I played II before playing I, and must say I actually preferred II's Atlantica -- both optional and less of a pain. I really can't say I like these swimming controls, and the whole place is kinda disorientating. Also, I'm stuck at
Ursula (second fight)
right now -- it's quite difficult, and what makes it even more annoying is that KHI's cutscenes are unskippable, unlike KHII's... :|

Hehe, I'm playing them in the same order! VERY wrong order, but whatever. Then again, playing I before II would surely have helped me appreciate II more... :P
Considering playing Birth by Sleep next and then I'm kinda ready for Dream Drop Distance. No way I'm playing Days or Re:Coded :\

Deep Jungle was just a mess. THE "VINES" SEGMENTS. AHHH felt so badly coded, and so totally unnecessary. Just make it a small cutscene or something, instead of an annoying short segment that requires no real skill, but is nonetheless easy to mess up and then you fall down and have to climb all the way back up again and argh. Not to mention that the game was terrible at telling you where to go next, so I backtracked to the tree house multiple times because I wasn't sure where to go. A cutscene plays with all the monkeys running away or something and I'm just left standing there after it? Ohh sure that means... WHERE DO I GOOO?

Anyway sorry for the rant :P

Really don't get the love for this. The soundtrack is great but the controls are bad. Whose idea was it to have the L trigger as 'centre camera' AND tag? In the 'boss' levels where you have to tag the backs of the other gangs you end up trying to spray them but end up shifting the camera around you like a madman. Seriously bad. Also, aiming for certain jumps is frustrating.

This is fun :) Controls are tight, nice variation in missions and seems to be really big too. I've been playing for sometime and I'm only just over 50% complete apparently.

Getting stomped on by GAFers in Hero Academy.

I want to start ever morning playing Dance Centra for fifteen minutes. It's a good workout!
