I think I asked this before on the old GAF before it blew up, but I can't remember if I got a definitive answer. I'm pretty sure everyone remembers the story. Nintendo showed off GCN at a show(I forget which one. E3?), the prototype controller went missing afterwards, then later it appeared on eBay and was getting crazy high bid amounts. I'm pretty sure the auction was canceled, but was the controller ever recovered? :lol

BTW, can someone dig up a picture of it? I wouldn't know where to start.

Yep. That's it. I'd imagine if they had video games during the Salem witch trials, one of the tortures for alleged practitioners of witchcraft would be to play 12 hours of Mario Sunshine with that thing.

I think I might be. I found an article about the stolen controller and one of the guys from the site commented that he played SSBM/WaveRace with it and had thoughts of trying to steal the console himself. :lol He didn't complain so it must of felt ok.

I always wanted this one, the colour scheme (buttons) was much nicer (especially on the white/greyish one Miyamoto first demoed (video on ign somewhere)). And i never saw the need to revert B back to a circle shape.

Well that explains a lot. I guess the prototype is locked away in a vault some where. As for the stolen controller, it's pretty much worthless since there's millions of them just like it I guess. :lol
