What's a good skiing game?

I've been wanting to play a skiing game lately, and I wanted to ask the hive mind for suggestions.
The first game that came up in my search was We Ski and Snowboard for Wii. I was skeptical, but it's got a good metacritic score, and I've been wanting to use my Wii more lately anyway. Plus, my mom really wants the balance board anyway, so this could just be the added bonus.
The other game that came up was Bode Miller Alpine Skiing. I think I recall playing a PS2 version of it a couple years ago at a friends, but I don't remember if it was good or not (the reviews I'm finding seem to say it was bad). Unfortunatley, I donated my PS2 a while back and I don't have a PS3 yet. There is a PC version, though. Would it be worth it to pick that up just to have some fun?
Amped 3 also came up. I liked the demo, and I love the freedom. Can you ski, or only board? If it's the best of the bunch, it won't matter too much, but I'd like to ski in the game.
So, what's good?

SSX On Tour was ok. Just not as good as SSX3 but it had Skiing which I liked. Other than that I have no idea.


edit: Blur has skis? Hmm Might have to check it out.
 
Uhhh, well skiing isn't exactly the sport of choice for video games unless you count olympic games...

Really dude, just grab SSX Tricky and SSX3. That's the last time anything good came out.

This would be awesome. Even a Natal ski game would have potential.

Can't believe SSX never came up in my searches. I'll check them out, thanks guys.
 
Play SSX On Tour and choose skis. So good. :D

EDIT: Beaten, but don't listen to the hate. SSX On Tour is my favorite SSX.

We Ski and Snowboard is seriously an excellent game. It's a massive open ski resort with heaps of shit to discover. It's a shame Namco probably scared everyone off with the awful box art.
 
No good ski programs.

Some good Snowboard games. SSX series.

Amped 3 for the xbox 360 can be picked up very cheap and it is not so bad. Worth the (less than $20) you'll pay for it.
 
if you have a Wii track down 1080 Avalanche for the Gamecube. I actually found it better than the original, unlike WaveRace and WaveRace Blue Storm. Underrated game.

Yeah, the 1080 games were good.
 
The best skiing game I've played was WINTER.EXE (don't remember the actual name) on the PC. But that's almost 20 years ago already. I'd go for We Ski & Snowboard, but bare in mind that it's more of a skiing sandbox. It looks and feels quite realistic, you could say it's a wintersports simulator that tries to capture the feeling of being on vacation. Wii Ski & Snowboard has two mountains btw, one feels a bit like SSX3 and you can ski (or snowboard) all the way down without interruptions. The other one has normal pistes, slalom, halfpipes, funparks etc. Although SSX3 is often praised for its open leveldesign, it comes nowhere close to Wii Ski & Snowboard.

The SSX series is like Excite Truck on snowboard (or ski in SSX on Tour), very fun but also very different from actual skiing.
 
Whatever you play, make sure it's before Criterion comes out (hopefully) with the next SSX. Chances are good everything thereafter will suck.

I heard about the rumor, but this makes no sense whatsoever. If an SSX game is in the works then I would guess the EA Big people would be working on it.

That brand doesn't even exist anymore does it?
 
Slalom on NES... well it was fun when I was a kid, doesn't hold up very much. The one song they use in the game is great, though.

hell yea!

that game is so bad it's hilarious. i've played it split-screen with a couple friends and had some good laughs.

definitely worth the 2-3 dollars/euros or whatever it costs now.
