• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

What's been your SPANUUUUUND! announcement?

- PSone emulator for the PSP
- Genesis and TurboGrafx added to list of systems on Revolution's Virtual Console
- The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass' unveiling

1. Genesis & TG16 on Rev. I was not expecting this, and since i never had a genesis, i can't wait. Also my TG16 controller is busted so....
Hey, i was wondering, PCengine (TG16 japan right?) was bigger in Japan than here, many more games... i wonder if we will get to DL that whole catalog

2. when i saw that off road game for the PS3 was the first time i said to myself "now this looks next gen"

No regional lockout on PS3 games, now I'll never have to play a game in the English language again (except MGS which I think is better in English)

It's all about the Genny and Turbo VC confirmations. I miss the hell out of my Genesis, and the Turbo was underrated. Lotsa gaming goodness there. I guess I can add in the fact that indie devs can distribute their content on the VC. That's going to take off like hell when you take the $2000 dev kit into account.

I don't think they'll need a rev sdk to make games for the virtual console (unless you were talking about indy rev games).

Yeah, I was talking about indie rev games :) The Revmote is the key to me.

Not spectacular, but a very good selection all round I'd say. MS has raised the bar with XBL, but I would not be at all surprised if Sony and/or Nintendo matched them or even eclipses them.

1) Virtual console, wow, new content, Sega content and more. They better have a great interface for this and easy storage. Most interesting.

2) Zelda DS, total fucking shock. Looks beter and more innovative (for Zelda) than I expected (was expecting a staple Zelda handheld RPG). Most shocking.

3) PS3 region-free. As a European gamer, it has been my wish for years and years and friggin years that consoles would banish region coding. This is a big step in that direction, I hope. Most wanted news. Most happy. oh hell yes.

Didnt like the look of Sony's online service though, looks intrusive.

Zelda because of the 2D-ish Zelda gameplay and the nice use of 3D graphics.
The virtual console news gets runner-up.

Man it was utterly disapointing. Sony had a decent show though.

Roll on e3!

GOTY Oblivion is out tomorow though, makes up for the crap showing at GDC.

Zelda DS? Didn't see that coming. It, of course, looks great, but WW was the least well recieved Zelda title ever except for the non-Nintendo ones.

Err, WW is critically and commercially more successful than Majora's Mask. And that hurts to say, considering MM is my fave Zelda, hands down. And then there are the handheld titles that never were as well received as the console counterparts... save for say Link's Awakening.

Anyway, mine is Zelda DS, followed by the PS3 being region free.

Zelda looks neat, but I don't have a DS. Otherwise, it was pretty uneventful for me.

I already have a PS2, so the PS3's uber compatibility means next to nothing to me.

And MS' developer tools, while nice, didn't accompany any huge game announcements I'm aware of.

The sonic games look way better on Sonic Mega Colletion than on Genny. I'm hoping that can be carried over for other great games like Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier.

BUY A PS2

1. NSMB. Love the way this game looks, the animation, art, it all looks fantastic. I have been on a clip searchathon, finding any clip from GDC that I can, and putting it in a folder.

2. Crysis, impressive. The details in this game are jawdropping. Crytek is definately making a name for themselves. They are setting the bar high in 2006.

Zelda, and the PS3 stuff. Specifically I was very pleasantly surprised by the mixed Cell/RSX rendering techniques that seem to be being employed so early, in Warhawk (yeah, I'm a geek, but heh..that's just very exciting potential).

I tried to verify the PS3 getting a HDD as standard by telling people that the announcement made to gamasutra.com was indeed accurate as most webmasters recieved it as a press release. That's how I got word of it.

It has to be accurate, I have too much of a hard-on for it to be false.
If the PS3 does not get a HDD as standard then Kutaragi is a tease and he can forget me calling him back.

As a press release? I'm pretty sure Gamasutra simply called that SCEE rep up and asked him for comment there and then.

If Harrison would not confirm it - and he wouldn't - it hasn't been decided yet if it'll be included.

Well, Harrison is tease.
I'm all wet and ready, he better not ruin the moment.
