What's The First Game You Played On An HD Tevelsion?

For me it was Mass Effect 2. I bought it when it came out and played it on my old standard television and it looked horrible. The text was too small and the hacking mini games were impossible to play. Up to that point games such as Halo 3 and Fable 2 looked pretty decent on the old set but Mass Effect 2 was the first that I found unplayable. I had to shelve it until I upgraded. Couple months later I bought my first flat panel and Mass Effect 2 was of course the first thing I tried on it. The difference was huge, I then moved on to better looking games like Bioshock that really blew me away.

What was your first HD experience?

I only ever played them in game stores, like Fight Night Round 3 and Call of Duty 2 on xbox 360.

Then GRAW happened on my own TV. Everything changed.

Mario 64, sir. (You said "On an HDTV") And then Gran Turismo 4 in 1080i mode.

But when I got my 360, it was Perfect Dark Zero.

I don't recall the first game I played on an HDTV, but the first game I played in HD on one was True Crime: The Streets of LA.

Holy shit was a blown away at the time. Even on my 27inch 4:3 1080i HD CRT Zenith.

Featured here some years later..

Then upgraded to a Polaroid 37 inch LCD, followed by a 42 inch 1080p Toshiba Regza, and finally a 55 inch Samsung D8000. (That I just snapped a shitty photo of on my iPhone)

The first game I played on an HD television? Ummmm... probably Super Smash Bros. Melee. (the timing is about right)

The first HD game I played on an HD television was GT5 Prologue, I think.

Probably Gears 1 at a friend's house. But the first time I played on an HDTV at my own house was Forza 2. Mind was blown both times.

CoD2

Game that got a lot of people including me to pick up a 360.

Having those samsung + 360 setups in the game shops was a very good move.

Halo 3? I want to say Halo 3.

TBH when I first put that one on. I was shocked and not in a good way.

Gears of War. Glad it was that one.

Back then, the idea was to get a PS3 and then an hdtv, but it got delayed in Europe so the hdtv came first.

Project Gotham Racing 3 on my 1080i 30" CRT on the Xbox 360 launch day. Can't believe it was so long ago.

I watched the intro on repeat for hours.

My first "HD experience" was playing PC games on my Matrox G400 at 1600x1200. This was in last millennium.

The first game I played on a HD television was Lost Odyssey I think.

PDZ, unfortunately. It was the Xbox 360 demo kiosk we received at the store I used to work at.

I was so bummed how terrible it was and how awful the new Joanna Dark model was.

Kameo was pretty sweet looking, though I never played it at launch.

DOA 4 almost made me buy a system outright though, so much fun and the jump from DOA 3 felt huge.

Technically speaking? Wii Sports.

Through actual component cables? Crackdown maybe?

MGS 4. Great way to start off too, even if everything else at the time looked horrible in comparison. (Except perhaps Wipeout)

Dead Rising.

Kind of had to.

Yep. The second 360 game I bought was unplayable because of my sd tv at the time. When I finally got my Hd tv I went back to it only to realize it wasn't really worth it anyway.

I think the actual first game I booted up when I got my hdtv was GTA IV...and I was blown away.

Fight Night Round 3, back when that was the only thing even worth seeing on an HDTV

I had no idea what I was doing when I got my first HDTV, it was a 27 inch 4/3 CRT that had 1080i in letterbox mode.

Pretty sure it was either Dead Rising or Gears of War. It was probably DR because I was so excited to play it in HD since it was basically unplayable for me on my old CRT. For anyone who doesn't know, the text in the game was way too small and basically unreadable if you weren't on HD. I ended up shelving the game until I got my HD set.

Mario 64, sir. (You said "On an HDTV") And then Gran Turismo 4 in 1080i mode.

But when I got my 360, it was Perfect Dark Zero.

Playing GT4 in 1080i was my main reason for switching to an HDTV. I really wish for a GT5 version of El Capitan.

My first 360/PS3 HD experience was PGR3.
