What's the game with the lowest Metascore which you... actually like?

Too Human. 65 on metacritic and hated by GAF. But I think that's mostly because of Dyack.

I freaking loved this game and played the crap out of it. The fact that we won't be getting the rest of the trilogy is my biggest disappointment this gen.

49

Seriously? It's bust a move. Give it 7/10 for at least being competent.
Maybe I'm more forgiving because it was part of a B1G1 deal.

Well, I "finished" the game in 2 hours and there wasn't much else that convinced me to play it any longer, so...49, in my opinion, is deserving.

I really enjoyed Tetris World Online Edition for the Xbox (62). It came bundled with my first Xbox Live subscription and along with PSO I&II, I was content with paying for Xbox Live for those two games until Halo 2 was released.

This is a recent one, but I actually had a lot of fun with it

Came to post this. After all the complaining I heard, I gave it a stab when it got cheap and really like it. Reminded me a bit of playing co-op Rainbow Six or Left 4 Dead, and I found the Umbrella-focused story more interesting than usual REs. (even though you always knew you'd fail missions like "Kill Leon")

Dead Island Riptide is at 65 for the PC version. Silent Hill Downpour 360 sits at 68.

Dead Island is fun, but Downpour is a legitimately good game. So Downpour.

Both are just easy targets for lazy critics.

Yeah, Nier was what first came to mind for me.

But the Disaster Report games are rated lower, and I love them both:

They also each have a 9.3 user rating, though admittedly not from many reviews.

i was just thinking about these games because i hadnt seen them mentioned yet. i like the first and started the second but never finished it. this thread almost reads like a "what are arglebargle's favorite games" thread. seriously, i love EDF, godhand, nier, chulip, alpha protocol and a few others. gotcha force is ok. cy girls has a 53 on meta and isnt _that_ bad, at least it tried some interesting stuff.

a friend and i make a point of playing games with terrible reviews. some of them deserve it (catwoman, charlie's angels, ninjabread man). but sometimes reviewers just really get it wrong. en masse somehow.

It's not that low, but I felt it was received pretty poorly.

It loved the look of the game and the branching paths. It's surprisingly difficult if you try to find all the melons, rather than just eating up everything in sight. Which is why it baffles me when people complain it's too easy. If you run through Yoshi's Island (or any Mario game) without caring about scores, it can be simple as well. The look of the game was really impressive in some stages too.

Enter The Matrix and Duke Nukem Forever

I really enjoyed those games, especially Enter The Matrix because I love the movie trilogy. It was so cool that the game told its own story with brand new film material exclusively shot for this game.

DNF was imho a pretty decent shooter, had about 16 hours solid fun with that. Duke's one-liners alone were worth the money.

Whaaaat???? User score is much closer to the truth (as always).

I've been enjoying the hell out of Alice Madness Returns recently.

No one has love for 3D platformers anymore...
this is why we can't have nice things.

Nier. Second-best ARPG of the generation. 68 Metascore.

Dungeon Hunters: Alliance is great. 67 Metascore.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. Super intense, replayable and satisfying. 63 Metascore.

Genji 2. Excellent combat system, beautiful, long campagin. 55 Metascore.

Trinity: Souls Of Zill'O'll. Good romp, tons of level diversity. 55 Metascore.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. Rhythmic cabbage slashing RPG carrot simulator par excellence. 54 Metascore.

Eat Lead: The Return Of Matt Hazard. Solid shooter, totally hilarious. 51 Metascore.

The games press is messed up.

Because it's fucking awesome.

Eh... I borrowed AMR from the library last year because of GAF. Didn't get all that far, but it was pretty well average. Glad I didn't have to pay money for it. Not a bad game, but with a metascore of 70, the critics pretty much got it right

The story gets better as the game goes on. If you're into dark, depressing, fucking crazy stories.

wow it seems that I like a lot of games in the 50's and 60's. I have to check that range for more hidden gems.

For me as someone said before Lair post patch with 52 it's an offense, the game it's as good as the rogue squadron games.

What in the flying fuck? I knew it wasn't well received by the press, but what? NieR is like Game of the Gen material for me, I don't give two shits about Metacritic but still, it doesn't make sense to me, how games like, I don't know, Dead Island get a 80 while a game with so much care put into gets that pos of a rating.

Wow, it's really sad. And CoD and Bioshock get all the 90 scores.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore

Excitebots: Trick Racing. One of my favorite games, coming in with a 77. Helped by a gaming-age review of 91 (which apparently doesn't exist anymore), but hurt by an Edge 40 (I still remember being really upset because it was a case of the reviewer clearly not understanding the game.)
