What's the go to music player for Windows these days?

I use itunes because I have an ipod. Only thing that annoys me is having the fully restart my PC when it updates. Don't see what's so bad about it besides that.

Replaced Winamp for Aimp a few years ago. Still use Foobar for specific videogames audio formats (SPC, PFS, VGZ, VGM, etc..)

My main is musicbee and spotify but I also use google music and groove/onedrive. I don't really know why but my local music sounds so much better in groove than in musicbee. Any one know how to fix that?

Most definitely Foobar2000! It's crazy how I still use it to this day. I like the amount of customization it offers while still remaining lightweight. In terms of media players, I haven't really found anything that is at its level.

I use spotify, I like it as a streaming service, it has a decent support for local files and it works well on all of my devices. I also set my local file to sync with my cloud storage so they are available on all of my machines.
Though if you really don't care about streaming, something like foobar might be better.

I still use Windows Media Player for my music and most of my videos. The only thing i ever need is being able to create playlists. Maybe i'm just ignorant to the advantages other Players have to it for someone like me.

I've been using iTunes on Windows 7, and 10 since I bought my first, first gen iphone back in 2008... Kinda been iTunes on Windows since, with like four different gen iphones....

Going by the opinions on this thread, I am probably the biggest fool for my choice of software and OS... But being stuck with an iphone and iOS, I haven't even dared tried to try to sync my phone with another music player....

I guess what I am really, really curious to know and find out here is, what's the most "iPhone friendly" media/music player on Windows (10) that is not iTunes?

I really want to move away from iTunes, but I need you to hold my hand GAF, I'd love a through and an educated answer to this dilemma!

Thanks in advance!

Foobar for local files, Spotify for streaming. Spotify doesn't handle the file formats I need to while Foobar with plugins does. Also Foobar is nice and lightweight.

MusicBee is pretty customizable without having to worry about the tons of plugins and skins that require maintenance.
Looking at you, Foobar

I'm otherwise with iTunes. Nowhere as bad as people make it.

Groove is okay, but more a streaming client with support for local files. Barely any library management.

I've been using iTunes on Windows for many years, what are the issues with it? Though I only use it to listen to my playlists and Spotify when I'm in the mood for new music

I use spotify. itunes just feels so bloated and installs so much junk. Google Play doesn't even have an official desktop client.

the last music player i used before i switched to streaming was Windows Media Player. I don't think I will ever go back to having all my music saved on my computer. Streaming is so much easier.

I really liked MusicBee until I tried updating some decade old rips with album art and ID3 info. It worked with most of them, but a handful got full on corrupted and wouldn't play. I had a backup, but made me really concerned about that feature in the future, because it's so tempting to use.

I got musicbee semi recently and so far it seems great.

I used iTunes for years and liked it but it just kept feeling clunkier and heavier with each version. Till the point it felt like a pain in ass just to open it up and I avoided doing so unless I was planning on listening for an extended period of time. One of the selling points with Musicbee was how light it feels and how fast it seems to move, despite being a fairly in depth and expansive program.

If I'm listening to music it tends to be a dedicated experience, via a DAC and headphone amp, with expensive headphones. To this end, I use Foobar2000 with components to allow for HD audio playback, and FoobarCon Pro to control my music from an Android tablet. This is a pretty lightweight solution, and easy as I'm so familiar with Windows.

Foobar2000 seems to be infinitely customisable, even if there are prettier players "out of the box" so to speak. And my standard speakers are nothing special, so most of the time if I'm just browsing I'm content with Youtube quality :)

I have tentatively begun to explore other solutions for my locally stored collection, which might be better suited to my setup. For example, I have an Unraid server in a spare room, but I'm hopeless with Linux.
