I finished Tales of Hearts R a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would and I've been struggling to find another game to hook me like Hearts R did.
Man, I don't think I can even remember the last game I beat, which tells you a little about just how much gaming I've done recently. Honestly, I think the last game I beat may have been Splinter Cell: Blacklist back in 2013... Man, that's crazy to think about.
It was a good first attempt at a Souls clone, but the combat devolved into just running into enemies with the shield charge and then doing the sprinting heavy attack. The bosses were also overly tedious to fight. I hope the devs learned a lot from their mistakes and if they decide to make a sequel can get it closer to the quality I expect from a Souls game
I finished Outlast yesterday... I've been playing it since a few months ago, never could get more than 10 minutes a day into it because I felt so nervous, and the save system in the game is really weird and made me restart from certain points so that never helped. Though the last area of the game really wasn't that scary and I finished it in one go. Feels good to finally have that out of my life.
Grand Theft Auto V last week. This was the first GTA that I've ever actually played from start to finish. I found it to be very fun.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare yesterday. I always play these for the campaign. I prefer BF4 for multiplayer. The campaign was fairly fun, but not mindlbowing. even with the upgrades, it seemed like they just took chapters from all the old CoD's and recycled them. I felt like I was playing a modded version of CoD4: Modern Warfare mixed with the mech scenes from F.E.A.R. 2.
Wolfenstein New Order. Great game, linear and scripted with interesting non-generic environments. Doesn't feel repetitive like so many other FPS. Made in the spirit of the half-life games and the best FPS I've played since Call of Juarez.
Styx was announced nine months before release while a completely new game would be at least two years away, plus the full title of the video is "STYX MASTER OF SHADOW - STYXMAS TRAILER". If Focus were teasing a sequel rather than DLC I imagine the video wouldn't be so strongly tied to the original.
A fan of the original PS1 entries, but a little bit wary about this re-remake given some of the comments on GAF. Turned out to be quite the pleasant surprise. 100% completion (not something I do all that often given time constraints). The gore was not a turn-off at all. The flimsy semblance of a story not much a deal-breaker either. I really enjoyed the Metroidvania-lite feel (wish there was more) and the optional tombs (also wish there was more).
