Whats the most impressive demo you have played?

the demo that came with the directors cut, was a lot better than the official 10 minute timer demo

I can't stand timed demo's

It's like the publishers are saying "hurry the fuck up and buy our game"
What was cool about the directors cut demo was you could use a gameshark and enter some areas that you couldn't normally go to.

I'm gonna go with the one I've played the most and was most impressed by, which is God of War 2. It had the most impressive visuals I'd ever seen for the PS2 and the boss fight was incredible. When I reached the end of the demo for the first time I was all like 'nooo' but then I bought the game and I was like 'fuck yeah'

true story

skate. demo, I played this about 30+ times on the PS3 and loved every single minute of it. Finally bought the full version and only played about 10 minutes of it. I think it was because I thought the world was way too big. :lol

for example....?
Well it wasn't THAT amazing, but if you used a gameshark, you could unlock locked data on the disc and get keys that you normally didn't have. The two areas I know you could go were the door to the right as you enter the police station and the door off to the right where you first see the licker. I think you could also get the shotgun. The demo froze once you tried picking up objects, though. Either way, at the time, it was neat to see.

I couldn't play skate very well, even though the new Tony Hawks games are crap, i'm too used to the control scheme, and I found myself pressing Triangle to Grind etc etc

I'd say the demo I have played the most recently is either GT5 demo, or Uncharted demo

Easy.

I'd have to say the demo of Metal Gear Solid for PSX. Simply because of the fact that it was my first experience with the Metal Gear franchise and the demo blew me away and it left me baffled and wanting so much more. Fucking awesome.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein multi-player demo was awesome.

There are a lot of good choices here. I can't choose only one.

-MGS2 would be at the top spot for me. After all, I purchased a game to be able to play this demo

-Half Life Uplink, although I completely forgot about it before this thread.

-Battlefield 1942. I played this demo for a long time, and loved every minute of it.

it's a tie for me between UT and THPS2

unlimited multiplayer from a demo (and amazing at that)
and awesome skateboarding with treatable levels (IN THE FUCKING DEMO)

first two games I bought specifically because of the demos being so sick

Most of the demo's i was going to say have already been said (MGS2, Tomba, BF1942, Crackdown), but i'm surprised nobody has mentioned the warcraft 3 demo yet. It was one of the other few demo's that had their own seperate mini-campaign, was good fun.

Battlefield 1942. Wake Island was the most incredible thing I'd ever played at the time.

Same, I played that demo for years, hell I still think there's people playing the Wake Island demo today.

That doesn't really count, trial accounts are the closest thing to a demo and it's still the full game, but with restrictions on going past level 20, mail, whispering and chat, etc etc.

You mean like most demos that have restrictions, that give you a bite sized taste of the final product?

More importantly, the later rounds of beta were absolutely (don't let the term demo fool you) free advertising demos, besides the usual stress testing, last minute preparations for launch.

Capcom Vs SNK 2 Demo on the Xbox Exhibition Vol2...Can't beat demos that are made up of an entire game minus the online and saving.

Bioshock
MGS2
Prey (the demo was better than the game itself because the game blew out all of its ideas in during the demo and didn't add much, if anything).

1-Call of Duty (PC)
This for me, it was my first WWII shooter and I was completely amazed and rushed out and bought the game at full price. It is the only PC game I have ever bought at full price. It's a shame that the WWII shooter has been driven into the ground.

Skate was an awesome demo for me..

and I know some of you are gonna hate the answer.. but Burnout paradise was an epic demo

MGS2 is the correct answer. Nothing comes near it.

I got the chance to play it at Konami's office a month or two before release, I was so damn happy about that. :lol

Unreal Tournament

Crappy image. I know.

I played this demo with a bunch of friends for several weeks in computer class back in 1999. It was DM on the Morpheus map (pictured) like 4h a day :)

ZOE2. That demo was damn impressive.

No joke. I felt like such a badass playing that demo. Zoning in and slicing shit to bits, while moving along like I'm doing a ballet of death, with bits of metal falling to the ground under my ninja pirouettes and spirit bombs of destruction.

Then comes the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo, Devil May Cry, Half Life Uplink, and Crackdown.
