One of the Best setting in gaming. Trains are GOAT, let's choose what's the best one.

Here's mine :

Vanquish
Paper Mario
TMNT IV

Games about trains are better. See Train Sim and A-Train.

I'm probably alone in this but I loved attaching and detaching trains in Final Fantasy VIII while that incredible frantic music put me in a anxious rush and making sure I don't get caught.

Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose. Second half of stage 2.

One of the few autoscrolling stages I legitimately enjoy.

FF6 purely for suplexing reasons

Uncharted 2.

Was this actually that good, or just one that a lot of people simply remember existing? My memory of it was a series of repetitive spawn locations in a narrow field of play.

I think it's more the totality of the set piece than the combat or anything like that. But it's been a while since I played Uncharted 2.

It's crazy clever how well it's put together, the background transitions are pretty much seamless, great sense of escalation. Yeah, that thing still holds up, there's a lot more to it than just the enemy encounters.

Sounds like a description of all of the Uncharteds, tbh!

I did too.

Much better than the sequence in U2, but maybe that's due to better gameplay in general.

This is my feeing, too. It's still not the best, but it's a fun combat sequence. Until RAAM.

Uncharted 2
Final Fantasy VI
Vanquish

It was already been answered, but yes it's that good. That shit was mind-blowing when it first dropped back in 2008 and it still holds up.

I love trains :D In general, I'm an economics nerd so anything logistics/infrastructure is cool to me, especially when it fits into the conflict/politics of the story. I like them more in the strategy/economic sense than the action Indiana Jones sort of sense. Things like....

At least if we're counting any stages that feature trains, even if no gameplay actually on the train...

My first thought was Front Mission (SFC) and the destroyed that old fashioned railway trestle bridge to ambush the supply train.

If only stages that involve any degree of action on a train...

GTA V - Derailed ... that set piece :O

But if only stages where most/all the action is contained on the train...

I wanna say FF VI, VII, and VIII ... each one is up there with the best (or in VIII's case, the best) parts in those games.

Escaping the train in FF VII up there with my fave scenes in the game (infiltrating Shin-Ra HQ; the highway chase; etc).

Always thought WoW's Grimrail Depot and the Grimrail train were pretty cool looking too.

One the splinter cell games had a fantastic train level, apart that Uncharted 2 and crysis warhead comes to my mind

Goldeneye's was probably my favorite. I replayed it many times. Opening every door and hosing whoever was inside with the great hit and death animations was fun.

Nah it was a masterclass in level design, which is weird coming from Uncharted.
