Nu Trek by a mile. Great Star Trek is significantly better than great Star Wars imo.
Nothing wrong with the modern Trek shows and this is coming from a lifelong Trekkie who grew up watching TNG when it was first airing. I have enjoyed a lot of the shows including Discovery (my avatar is actually from an episode).
Lots of people did which is something the prequel haters will never admit.I loved the prequels.
Yup. I liked all three of them even right after watching them out of the movie theater. Hell, I started collecting all sorts of Star Wars books and stuff right after Attack of the Clones and wow, that Coruscant car chase blew me away.Lots of people did which is something the prequel haters will never admit.
It was funny I was made fun of for being a huge star wars nerd by normies as a kid and when the prequels came out when I was high school and I loved them the "real" Star Wars fans shunned me for being a fake fan. Just can't win I guess.Yup. I liked all three of them even right after watching them out of the movie theater. Revenge of the Sith is also one of the best Star Wars movies ever made.
I always loved Palpatine way more than Vader since Return of the Jedi.It was funny I was made fun of for being a huge star wars nerd by normies as a kid and when the prequels came out when I was high school and I loved them the "real" Star Wars fans shunned me for being a fake fan. Meanwhile, I'm getting a chuckle out of this kid at Target picking up a Darth Sidious doll and going "execute order 66" in his best old man voice.
Mission accomplished George, mission accomplished.
The Disney canon also has some pretty damn good video games which saves it a little bit.Even Picard s3 is mediocre. I cant see shit or hear the awful villan in half the episodes. We got 2 great hours out of 8. They had the ship, the cast, the sets and the money to do something truely awesome.
I like snw but it isn't anywhere near as good as enterprise let alone tng etc. It's more relief it isn't discovery. I refuse to watch academy. They ruined my favourite tv show.
Starwars had a few cool scenes in ST, solo was ok - kenobi, bobafett and Mandelorian are watchable if dissapointing to varying degrees plus we got the cracking Rogue one and Andor.
It's not even close. One is a rollercoaster, the other is a bowl of dicks for breakfast for the rest of your life.
Star Trek stories are vastly more differentiated than Star Wars in terms of plot and theme. Like...it's not even close.I thought the nu-Trek movies were ok, but all the tv shows seem irredeemable. The Soy Wars movies mostly suck ass, and the tv shows range from unwatchable to pretty good.
But I vote for Soy Wars because it is so much easier to sell Star Wars. Star Trek is basically John Lennon's "Imagine" in space (60s hippie idealism) and that has a shelf life and that shelf life ran out in the 1990s. Star Wars can be ANYTHING.
That's a fair point. I was speaking more in broad strokes than individual episode or movie plot.Star Trek stories are vastly more differentiated than Star Wars in terms of plot and theme. Like...it's not even close.
I'm trying to understand how Star Wars has more potential in terms of "broad strokes" than Star Trek? What does that mean? That's a fair point. I was speaking more in broad strokes than individual episode or movie plot.
The sequel SW films were just dull.
Picard felt like an entirely different IP.
