Favorite colors were a new idea to me when I was five years old. They're just colors, after all. I didn't have one, but it seemed like some kind of important social establishment, so I picked one for kindergarten. I hated red, black, white, and brown. I didn't care about yellow or green, pink was a girl color, and my brother had already picked blue, so that didn't leave me many options. Because it seemed to necessary to have one, I picked purple arbitrarily.
Later, due to some miscommunication, I got the idea from my brother that people changed their favorite color every year on their birthday. So when I turned six I decided my next favorite color would be orange. Soon after this, I discovered that people don't change their favorite colors, so I haven't changed it since
