Microsoft 2009 was pretty great I thought- last time that they genuinely focused on games
What about E3 2013?
The E3 as a whole was a shambles for them, however their conference itself was pretty fantastic.

That's pretty funny.haha, I was actually there back in '03 when they had a booth made to look like some lab contraption show casing the demo inside, and I was one of the last couple guys who was there waiting to go in. then came these 2 guys in suit trying to get in too and was told that's the last one showing of the day (or maybe for that E3 since I think it was the last day). 1 of the 2 suits actually start asking everyone waiting in line if they're willing to give up their spot for $50 or $100, I don't even remember if anyone did give up their spot and the reason is because I kept mine and watched the demo first hand and got blown away by it, hard. still have the T-shirt they gave out afterward and wear it from time to time too! ah the good old days~
Which e3 was the one where Jack Tretton ripped on Kaz Hirai for "RIIIIIDGE RACER!"? I am rather fond of that bit. Same sentiment with Reggie acknowledging "My body is ready" for the first time.
This one. When Reggie has shit to announce, we all win.

Sony E3 2013.
No DRM, crowd reaction, FF15, Kingdom Hearts 3, 399$ price and so on. One of the best E3 conferences ever.
Nintendo 2011, because of this stage:

- especially how they used it to demo Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, 3D Land and Star Fox

399$ was OK, but it doesn't beat 299$
So GAF what E3 conference do have the most reverence for?
For me it's Nintendo's 2006 E3 conference. It starts off with an epic orchestrated performance of Wii Music conducted by Miyamoto. Then Reggie takes the stage shares a few words then an amazing montage of upcoming Wii games plays. This trailer shows off all the ways the Wii remote can be used to enhance and innovate gameplay. The first glimpse of the next 3D Mario game. A new Metroid Prime game. WarioWare. And at the end, we get to see for the first time Twilight Princess running on Wii, eliciting applause from the crowd. After that Reggie returns to the stage, speaks briefly and then another great montage of games including a new Fire Emblem game and a new IP, Disaster: Day of Crisis. Then Bill Trinen takes the stage and gives us the first live demo of Twilight Princess, although disappointingly it wasn't played with motion controls for the sword, but with a button. Later on a demo of Red Steel, showing off the IR aiming functionality of the Wiimote and the motion sensing for the swordplay. Towards the end of the conference, there is a Wii Sports demo with Reggie, a contest winner, Miyamoto and Mr. Iwata himself showing off the ease of use and intuitiveness of the controller. Reggie takes the stage once more and to close out the show and leave us an hot anticipation for the fall for the next leap forward in gaming.

I always thought this comic was kind of dumb because Sony had a fine conference in 2010. This seems to ignore that just to continue PS3 has no gaems joke, which was pretty much a dying meme at that point.
Remember this guy?

Wonder what the best year overall was though?

I'd probably say 2006. Nintendo's was of course great. Microsoft's was pretty great as well. Gears of War, Halo 3 and Peter Moore rolled up his sleeve to reveal the GTA IV release date. And even Sony, despite it's faults had an entertaining E3.Wonder what the best year overall was though?
Shame Nintendo didn't have a live conference last year. Would have been lovely to hear the reaction to MegaMan in 4.
