If I ever got a cat it would be a Serval (the cat on the right).

They're cool but good luck owning one. Very hard to take care of and give a proper life. Though they have a history of domestication, they haven't really had selective breeding to make them more suitable for house dwelling. You'd need to keep it outside in its own enclosure, spend ~$200/month on meat for it, take it out for lots of exercise, etc. They also tend to not bond well with multiple people.

If you want a cat that looks a bit like a serval but is more manageable (depending on how far down the breeding line you go), look at the savannah. Still expensive to acquire (up to $20k for a half-serval, half-domestic hybrid, though several generations down may be $1500-$4000), but they are going to be a hell of a lot easier to have as a pet.

My cat looks exactly like this one but I don't know what the breed is called. Does anyone know?

100% purebred Fuzzy-Wuzzums.

Cat breeds aren't like dog breeds (in that there are huge variations in body type, size, etc) and the fur color doesn't usually indicate breed, so unless you're buying from a show breeder you're pretty much just getting a "domestic long hair" or "domestic short hair" for a cat.

Which is totally fine, because all cats are awesome.

Maine Coons are the greatest. Gentle giants with a noble grace about their every move. Never seen a cat willingly dive head first into a faucet til we got ours and apparently this is a thing they commonly do.

Cats love sinks. I dunno why, maybe because it's cool and just big enough for them to squeeze into. Clancy is always getting in our guest bathroom sink, especially at night and in the morning to sleep.

LOL, cats are awesome...

the most "logical" explanation I've read about that, it's because they feel "safe" in higher grounds (in referenct to the floor)... and also, the shape of the sink give them a great hiding place from the "dangers" that are below them...

remember that cats are 500 year old less domesticated than dogs... they still have a lot of weird feral instincts going on, even when they are indoor cats.
That's so weird, but they're so adorable!

I must now post a picture of Clancy in a sink...

But they don't always like it. Here I am trying to wash something off of him. He wasn't wanting any part of it and tried to plug up the drain...

Thanks, we talked a lot about keeping it or not but the girlfriend was in love and I must admit I am a bit smitten...a lot of responsibiliy though. We got a bunch of advice from the vet and thankfully he has only had a few accidents before learning to use the litter box. He seems to have plenty of energy![/IMG]

They're a pretty low maintenance pet (especially compared to dogs). Make sure they have a soft bed, clean litterbox, food and water and they're pretty much good to go. Occasional vet checkup or as needed.

Bengal (mix between a domestic cat and wild Asian Leopard cat)

Amazingly intelligent cats, extremely inquisitive and very very athletic. They can jump insane heights. I have two :)

Looks just like our cat. To be honest, I've never been a cat person, but we took in this Bengal a couple years ago after someone abandoned it in the neighborhood. It had been living on its own for about 3 months and winter was coming so we took it in. My wife is not a fan because it's super independent and not a snuggler like her old cat (which was white, shed all over the place, and in general a nuisance).

Our bengal has gotten out a couple times and always just snoops around in the field behind our house for 5-10 minutes and comes back. Still has her claws, but in general doesn't fuck up too much in the house - basically just claws the edge of some rugs every now and then if we don't clip her nails regularly.

Lynx Point Siamese is a favorite of mine, I have one currently and it's like having a little dog in cat form. Super loyal and playful. Also beautiful coloring and striking blue eyes.

A friend of mine has a Laperm cat and I've found them incredibly unique looking cats. Also hypoallergenic.

I have a black norwegian forest cat. Beautiful.

Don't have photo on my at the moment so heres one from the internet that looks 95% the same:

Looks just like one of mine, but I always assumed he was some kind of mix. My other cat looks like a Bombay, but who knows. Got them both as rescues.

They are both extremely loyal and affectionate. They play fetch, and the Bombay-looking one will balance on my palm with her two back feet to catch bugs that are near the ceiling. She sleeps over my shoulders or with her head on my arm while I am on my PC. The two of them are the best pets I have ever had. They have ways of communicating with me that I've not encountered with other animals. Their tones and motions are very specific, and I don't know whether they learned from each other or developed those behaviors independently, but it's easy to tell what they want, and they have no issues starting up a conversation to make a point.

If I had to pick a different breed, I might go Abyssinian. I hear they are among the most loyal of cats, and very intelligent. Active, loyal, and intelligent are the most important pet personality traits for me.

Korat

I have no idea how I have one, because I found her under my porch, but she looks exactly like that and acts like one.

(Her eyes are greener in normal light, flash makes them yellow)

The Russian Blue looks somewhat alike, but my cat doesn't have an undercoat like they do, she's heavy (again like Korats), and she talks a lot (like Korats)..
