the herbivores > predators with dinos
a fair number of herbivores kicked so much ass that NOTHING not even a trex dared to attack it

but you cant make a movie with them eating humans so they get less love

I think it's far more interesting to know that we have a direct window into the past in the form of birds instead of dinosaurs just being these completely unknowable ancient monsters.

Like, seriously, look at bird feet:

...and realize what you're actually looking at: dinosaur feet.

Ooh, I have another... Masiakasaurus

Such a weird looking animal.

Also number of dinos with no feathers that still live today... Oh what's that? None. Feathered dinos win. Feathers= immunity to global catastrophe. I wish I had feathers. :P

Ankylosaurus!

Ankylosaurus was one of the last armored dinosaurs to live, and indeed one of the last dinosaurs of any type to live.

During the time period that Ankylosaurus roamed the North American continent, a number of large, dangerous predators were also on the prowl, including Tyrannosaurus. Ankylosaurus was a slow moving herbivore and needed protection from these hungry hunters.

This protection came in the form of sharp spikes, and a long heavy hammer tail that could be used to break the legs of its enemies. Even the eyelids of Ankylosaurus were plated for protection.

Styracosaurus is my favorite dinosaur, but this thread's already got enough Styrac love, so I'll mention my favorite non-dinosaur, the Dimetrodon.

These guys roamed the same parts of Texas I've lived in all my life, and that never ceases to amaze me.

Ah, therapsids were indeed fascinating, more mammalian than reptile! I'm partial to Gorgonops myself.

I mean T-Rex is traditionally the most badass, but it's usually presented as "the bad guy." Still, even though I have soft spot for the herbivores (damn you Jurassic Park!) it's probably my favourite.

From among the best known, Stegosaurus. As a kid I found herbivores a lot more relatable since as cool as predators were, it was hard for me to picture them as anything more than monsters.

And... #TeamFeathers. Picture a badass eagle. Now take the feathers away. Does it look better to you? ... Really? You perv.

-edit-

It's a protosaur but I don't care. Sharovipteryx has never been bested.

Oh man, I can't imagine that working at all. Very neat nonetheless.
