I have finished this book a few days ago.

Oh my god.
In the introduction chapter, I got tears in my eyes, because it is so sad and so true what Brandon writes. It was really a sad preface, but it was neccessary. Then, the drastic change shocked me at first becase he uses..shorter..sentences. I got used to that in a few chapters, and he himself becomes better and better. By the Second half of the book, he becomes a near-perfect instrument of telling this story to everyone. The book deserves a true 10/10 from me. Nothing less - it is amongs the best of the best ever written. Ever.

So, to quote some spoilerish highlights....

A Talk with Verin Sedai. For the love of god. This chapter was the perfect demonstration of Bittersweet. Verin was one of my favorites in the whole story, because she had this active stance, helping where she was needed (Perrin! Mat! sometimes, to Rand...). I will have to reread the whole series again in the light of she being black. To see if this could have been catched before...

Also...
TUON! She is my favorite. Yes, she has her own views, as does everyone else. But NO ONE has been able to escape Rand's ta'veren abilities like she. No one. She is the strongest in the whole bunch. She is so good... damn. Lucky Mat.

Rand's journey into hell and back was also awesome. I see some wants to see Brandon's failure at his expressions, but in reality, he really IS changing drastically, to something worse - then for something good. It is awesome, it really is. And it has been written perfectly.

God, I love this story so much.

I don't know if the book is a 10/10 or one of the best books ever written, but it was a lot of fun and I am happy that we get to see how the story was supposed to end.

Rereading the series now. Currently on Book 2, and so far they're as awesome as I remember. I know in the middle books nothing happens except a lot of hair pulling and skirt swishing, so do you guys recommend I skip those and start again on Sanderson's run? Will I be missing anything interesting plot-wise?

There are some good summaries on the net if you have already read the series and you just want to touch on the finer points.

Knife of Dreams is still worth a read I think, then the two Sanderson books.

I think that Sanderson got even better with Towers of Midnight in the voice of some of the characters. (Some people didn't like Mat's voice in the Gathering storm but I didn't mind it).

I am looking forward to A Memory of Light.

Probably coming out around the first half of next year at the earliest.

Btw, there is a Topic for Towers of Midnight after you have finished reading that book V_Arnold.

Well, as someone who just reread the WHOLE series, I do not think it is wise to ignore any book's developments. All books are awesome, but some are more or less centered on characters that some might call "supporting". I do not know which books are believed to be worthless, (I can only guess: the books between Lord of Chaos and...Winter's Heart?) or simply worse then others, but there are tons of interesting character growt and/or new place in there for you. If you enjoy the books so far, you will enjoy the middle section of it as well, chances are.

I would not know all places and characters as well as I do had I skipped any books on the way just to read a fast and quick summary instead.

Thanks :D I do not dare going in just yet, I am afraid I will spoil something for myself... ^^

Just skip every chapter with a female POV, and also all the Perrin chapters.

Everything from path of daggers to crossroads of twilight is garbage.

I'm almost done with the Song of Ice and Fire series. Maybe I'll start reading this. Would Wheel of time do well as a TV series? Maybe AMC could do it.

far too many special effects would be required to do it justice, and they would have to be high-quality cutting edgeish type stuff not to be completely lame.

Wheel of Time would probably be better off as a series of movies ala Harry Potter. Budgets for TV series just wouldn't give the story any justice.
