Where is the Fallout 4 gone gold announcement?

Bethesda Games.

- Bronze: Launch.

- Silver: Game of the Year edition.

- Gold:

Is a lack of such an announcement something particularly uncommon?

Besides, it takes for a year or so after release for Bethesda games to go gold... :P

I don't understand why people hold gold announcement in high regards. It's so unnecessary. We already know the release date, and by knowing when it's gold it doesn't make the game release earlier.

Huh? What does that even mean?

It means the game is finalized and has been sent to manufacturing so retail copies can be created. They used to create a Gold master version that is to be the basis of all retail copies. Tho with Bethesda's track record regarding launching broken games and needing patches, this is kinda a formality now

"Other people are looking forward to this game like me!"

It just contributes to launch hype/zeitgeist.

No not earlier, but I'm guessing people are fearing last minute delays and are using announcements like that as proof that it's coming out on time. Maybe?

Um, yes it does.

"Gone Gold" means the final retail version of the disk is ready. Then have to send that to factories to start mass production, package them all up, ship them to stores across the world and have them all ready to sell on 11/4.

That's only 27 days away.
It's a bit unsettling if they haven't sent the final disk image to factories yet.

No it doesn't. Maybe it has "gone gold" in Bethesda's eyes but who said they need to even announce it to the public? Just have it on the shelves in November.

Yeah, I agree. I have never really paid attention to how much before a release a "gone gold" announcement usually happens. They don't release early and it's not like delays are normally announced on what would have been release day.

I thought this game was coming this month! My Best Buy order says November though. Was I wrong this whole time thinking October?

3 week windows from Gold to retail are a common thing-look at Halo 5.

Halo 5 went gold on the 7th- it comes out on the 27th (with copies already in retailers this past weekend)

Do you really need this announcement? The game is not going to get delayed at this point and not every game has gone gold announcement.

If fairness - that was because they got pestered by fans, and it was very late (with Skyrim they only confirmed a week before release - long after the PC preloads).

The game is available on Xbox, I have it ready:

Clean the plate, Tie your wires...

AND GET YOUR FEET OFF THE TABLE!

These games always release broken. I don't know why we keep buying them. I suppose because the good things far outweigh the bad.

Some of us just like to get even more hyped up. i'm not worried it's not coming out. I just want more Fallout news :).

Wow the sense of humour on this thread is pretty original. Must google some other "gold after launch" jokes.

To be honest i couldnt care less. Get me to the wastelands!!!!

Came back in to say that, do people not look at the title and think "well, there's two pages already, so that means absolutely no one else has made that joke".

Seriously though, two pages of the same joke is just tiring.

Not arguing with that, just saying that a pre load is not confirmation of the game being really gold
I thought usually they have to submit the game to Sony and Microsoft for certification before the content can be put on the store for preload or download. Usually this means the content your preloading or downloading is the certified game, which in turn means it's "gone gold".

Or am I uninformed and things have changed, the 27gb that you preload is just nothing?

Releasing broken experiences time after time is tiring. Maybe some day they'll take the hint.

I've been trying to replay Fallout 3 with mods on PC and can't play for more than an hour without a CTD.

Please make a stable fucking game, Bethesda.

People look forward to "gone gold" announcements? I don't want to be obnoxious but I can't really comprehend even noticing such an announcement's absence.
