Where is the next megaton assplosion coming?

Nintendo is very, very overdue to announce some games. Both for the Wii and DS.

After Wii Fit we really don't know what Nintendo has up their sleeve, and for the DS, they have another Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon in Japan and Somabringer, both in Japan, but other than that, we don't know what they're working on.
 
To be honest, the sort of megatons that really blow up are ones that take some established story or some well held belief and flip it on it's head.

That's why the DQ to DS story totally blew up. It really couldn't have come at a worst time for Sony (even though it was never going to be released on the PS3) and that made the story all the more sensational.

Realistically, the biggest megaton I can concieve of would be Kojima developing a title for the 360 (perhaps a new IP?), from scratch as a lifetime exclusive opposed to say Metal Gear Acid or Metal Gear Online coming to XBLA.

meltdowns always occur at megaton announcements. It's what makes the threads so fun to follow after the initial shock has worn off. :D
 
As expected as it is, the announcement of a FFVII remake will make people's face melt, no matter the platform SE chooses.

I don't think you understand the concept of a true megaton. The first unanimous reaction by all GAFfers has to be "ZOMG! kermit.gif x10" to warrant the title of megaton. Price drops? pfft.

Well, depending on platform, it could be a megaton, or a megaton.
 
It's not really a megaton if we know it's coming.

Even megatons like MGS4 being ported to Xbox 360 will have lost it's sting because it's been rumoured for so long.

Well... if that did happen and it came on a bazillion discs....
 
Capcom finally announces Mega Man Legends 3 is in the works. Oh and Square/Enix finally sets a date when FF VII remake will drop.
 
MS not having a marketing exclusive on GTA4 made me raise my brows. Obviously not anywere near a ton but interesting for those watching that platform vs platform struggle.
 
Ico -> SotC -> NEW GAME, NOT SEQUEL, please.

I know you guys use "trico" and whatever for the lulz, but sometimes I think people actually want a "sequel" when in fact not making a direct sequel to an other existing game regarding gameplay elements was what brought us both Ico and SotC.

I do want more of that atmosphere and themes, but in a totally new game by the talented team.

Wasn't SotC codenamed Nico, which is an obvious amalgamation of Ni and Ico?

No it won't.

After the awesomeness of DQVIII on the PS2, practically EVERYONE thought/hoping DQIX was going to do more of the same on a console, not to mention DQVIII was the first fully worldwide DQ.
DQIX being the next full installment in the series (i.e not a spin off like Final Fantasy does) on the DS and looking like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles... was a epic drop kick in the balls to everyone.

KH to wii won't hold a candle, people will be begging for it to go on to the Wii like they did Okami.

On a similar note, [insert Gaf favourite Japaneese franchise] going exclusively to mobile phones, bitter tears, meltdowns galore everytime!

You're underestimating GAF. Don't doubt the power of people talking trash about game series they've never played and don't even care about going to a "platform they dislike".

Mobile games make more sense to cry about though, because those never leave Japan and anyone that doesn't live there will never play then, even if they understand Japanese (because of service providers restrictions).

Hmmmm Megaton megaton I am thinking here.

Rockstar becomes a 2nd party developer for Sony after their contract with Take 2.

Another possible one would be Resident Evil 5 360 exclusive.

One for the LOLZ and me Dead Or Alive Beach Volleyball Extreme 2 for the PS3! Twice the breast and lotion physics! :D
 
Shenmue 3 and ZoE3 announced as PS3 exclusives at the PS Premiere.

I'm going to get executed for this.

But these prediction threads don't work. The true megatons are the ones that you don't see coming. That's what makes them so awesome.

I would really like the remake on Ps3 but if its on Wii i will buy one . Ds i dont think i would as theres nothing else on there i would buy.
Actually if it was on 360 it would be worse just because of 12 year old xbox fanboys claiming ownage with a game they have never played.
