Where is the next wave of Wonderbook software?

We are six weeks from Easter and one would assume the ideal time to launch the next wave of Wonderbook software, but there has been no word on anything since Book of Spells came out.

Where are the new experiences?

I would think Sony had some kind of roadmap for the thing but thus far it seems to have been launched and left.

Books of Spells bombed big time in the US, so I suspect future software will be EU-only like some Move games, and many Eyetoy titles.

Do you really care?

In the trash I guess. It flopped in the uk and they spent ten times the marketing budget they had on all their other games for the winter period combined :/

Do you really care?

Yes? Otherwise why would I start the thread.

This was supposed to be part of the big push for getting a more casual audience in to PS3 along with the 12GB system.

It is weird how they do not have another game ready for the second busiest time of year for these games.

Asked noone ever.

until now

There is a dedicated event about the Wonderbook on the 20th. You must have seen the ads.

The roadmap for the wonderbook is more like a cul-de-sac, a dead end.

With it performing this poorly they may not even complete projects already in progress.

...and nothing of value was lost.

A shame if nothing comes of it, the 2 11 years olds I was babysitting yesterday really enjoyed Book of Spells.

That's the problem with Sony, they make promises that they never fulfill.

Resident Evil PSP, Bioshock Vita, Agent and etc. If I see any game announcements as logos on the 20th I am gonna ignore them and pretend they don't exist until I see gameplay footage.

all from 3rd party devs?

You should've said Eight Days & Getaway but those are on hold
cancelled

You mean these?

Cancelled.
Goddamn!
I got excited for nothing :(
Bought a wonderbook set for 50 euros and my SO is quite pleased with it.
I think the lag is a bit too much but I really dig the idea. I really hope some more games get released for it.

Cancelled.

Very depressing news. Do you know why they were cancelled? I always thought wonderbook, as a concept, was wonderful, but the initial execution wasn't as good as I had hoped.

It's bitter news to hear that some of the more interesting concepts for future entries have been cancelled.

Don't know, they were done in early 2010 by MKO Games. So some really old concepts/prototypes.

If the OrbisEye camera suggestions are true then it will probably live on.

Much like all the AR stuff they have done so far the poor resolution and image quality of the cameras takes you out of the experience somewhat. You see yourself on the screen covered in noise and artefacts unless you are playing in a perfectly lit room which few people do.

As I said, the kids I had over yesterday loved Book of Spells and would probably enjoy more of a similar type of game.

Pitches/prototypes don't get cancelled, they simply fail to be greenlit.

Most likely in this instance because Sony probably decided that going with known and proven IP/IP creators was a better fit for the target demographic.

I'm guessing Diggs and Walking with Dinosaurs will be next in line. I think Walking with Dinosaurs will be the one to watch out for in the UK. They can capitalise on the live shows they had in the o2 arena

Not that I care but Move support/ exclusive games should have more priority than wonderbooks, which is basically dead as well.

I wonder if they're ignoring the US with this thing maybe.

Last time I was in a store down here in AU, which was only a couple of weeks ago, I saw a couple of new games for it. Can't remember their names though.

Yeah Digg's Nightcrawler came out a month or two ago, there's Book of Potions and Walking with Dinosaurs due over the next few months to the end of the year too.

Whoa, the detective one is out!?

I thought it looked pretty good, but hadn't heard a peep since it was announced... and now I'm learning it's already been released. -_-

edit: ahhh, not yet out in North America. That explains it.
