Where's the Platinum Games love?

I spent a good deal of time at Nintendo's booth this E3. Though there were a lot of great games on display there, the two that really jumped out at me for their tight game design, gorgeous visuals, rampant pace, and just sheer awesomeness were not any of Nintendo's in-house games, but Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101.

Both of those titles floored me. Wonderful 101 was such a refreshingly unique action game. It has so much style, and the frenetic gameplay made for nonstop fun with five people. The various hero configurations they had to show off were already all fun in their own right (with the Whip being my favorite), but the promise of a vast array of them to come seemed like pure action-packed bliss.

Bayonetta 2's big gameplay reveal did not disappoint either. They showed off what I assume is the very first level of the game, and it was nonstop action from beginning to end. It felt like Yusuke Hashimoto really took to heart what was so great about the first game and upped the ante in every regard. Bayonetta looked better than ever, played just as well as always, and felt perfect on the Gamepad. The promise of multiplayer challenge levels and an ever-increasing crescendo of climax action has me so excited to play this game. Truly one of the standouts of the show.

What's the point of all this gushing? I guess it's to say that Platinum's Wii U games look to outshine even Nintendo's own efforts in sheer fun, and I think everyone over there deserves more attention. Though these games have been getting some praise, I feel like it's been more muted than incredible-looking games like these deserve.

Also, here's a picture of Iwata begging for his life at the hands of Bayonetta.

EDIT: Well, I knew this would go this way. I know GAF loves Platinum in general; I'm asking where is the love now that they have shown off two games that really stood out as some of the best of show this year. Since we know the media isn't going to pay those games much attention, I'm wondering why GAF's excitement for them seems so muted...

Everyone loves Platinum games.

Its just that they're focusing on Wii U, now, so, most of us don't have much to say.

Platinum gets all kinds of love on here. Bayonetta and Vanquish got more discussion here than anywhere else I know of, and I think MGS Rising is probably still a frontrunner for 2013 GOTY, even with a bunch of big hitting games coming later this year.

I thought you were going to talk about the media. There is a pretty vocal contingent of gaf that's enamored with everything Platinum does

I can only assume you're kidding? I've never heard such vocal Platinum fans as on here.

I know GAF loves Platinum in general. Wondering where the love is now that they showed off two gloriously awesome Wii U games at E3 that totally outshone the efforts from Nintendo. Have not seen nearly enough praise for these games yet out of E3...

One of my main reasons for adopting a Wii U early (other than my love for Nintendo) was these two games coming.

W101 and Bayo2 look amazing, and I really look forward to playing them

Tropical Freeze + TW101 + Bayonetta II + Smash Bros. is what I'm mostly looking forward to as a Wii U owner. Nintendo made a good move in funding Platinum's stuff, at least for me.

Troll post is troll. Because of GAF I have played Vanquish (didn't finish it though) and I bought Bayonetta yesterday.

Confession. I secretly like that Platinum does not get a tonne of mainstream love because that means I can pick up an amazingly fun game for $15-$20 in a few months of the release of their games.

They're both Wii U games, not that many people own one?

Pretty much. If the games were coming on other platforms, I'd be all over them... But since they are wii-u exclusives, and I don't plan on buying one in the near future (I don't have much money, and if I were to buy a next gen console I'd invest into something that I'm sure will provide me with a wide range of games, both third and first party, ie. a PS4) I don't really have anything to say about them apart from the fact that they look really cool.

Well it's a number of things. Their games are not really games that the masses like, they are more niche titles (really good ones, but still niche).

They are also focusing on the Wii U. A console that's doing abysmally, and most people simply aren't interested in.

And then there's the part that this E3 is the big reveal for next-gen. So that's where the focus is gonna be for most people.

Joke post? GAF loves Platinum Games. There was a thread not long ago that asked which was your favourite developer from this gen and 75% of the posts included PG.
