Mario's Strikers Battle League is considered the worst game of the Mario Strikers series. Overwatch 2 is considered a massive downgrade compared with Overwatch 1. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is considered worse than The Legend Of Zelda.

The first one was so awesome, the games after that though. My god.

I played sacred alot as a teenager. Just completed sacred 2 today. Let's say I won't complete it again (who am I kidding I am doing the shadow campaign now)

It's just so sad what they did to this series.

Sacred 1 was like Diablo, sacred 2 was crap because they wanted to make it 3d,removing everything the first one did and the third was like fuck it we go full action no rpg here.

Bayonetta - as time has gone on, I've realized they should have quit after the first with how poorly they treated the character and world. B2 being worse in almost every way didn't help matters. B3 may have righted itself in regard to the gameplay but that story is a complete dumpster fire.

Tried to stick to stuff that only had bad sequels.

The Last of Us Part II.

As amazing as the graphics, gameplay, level design, attention to detail and what not are, at the end of the day I bought it for the story and characters which turned out horrifically compared to the first. Really bad pacing too it must be said while the first game flowed like butter.

Fear 1, Fear 2 Project Origin was no where near as good as the original, and once they announced no Pointman and the changes things went downhill, i was on the official forum's at the time and they went from hype to toxic pretty quick once the game was released, both forum's didn't last long afterwards.

Crysis as well, the first game is still the best one by far imo.

Golden Axe.

Looking back, none of those 3 Genesis games were really any good (the original arcade game was overhyped). But Golden II and III were pure dogshit.

At that time, the arcade game got a lot of hype and the Genesis port was a pretty good port. You'd think they'd put more effort into the 16-bit sequels. On the other hand, games like Streets of Rage 2 and 3, Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi III were solid.

If numbered sequels weren't sequels every Final Fantasy after the first one would be just called "Final Fantasy" over and over again, smartass.

It's the continuation of the franchise, not of a single entry.

But you already knew that, so try harder next time.

also DMC2 of course... but that one is the posterchild of bad sequels.

it threw out every game mechanic that made the first one stand out, made the controls 10x worse and the artstyle more generic.

Yeah, that's super depressing. The whole Idea of fighting for survival in a mall overrun with zombies was awesome. But they just couldn't figure out what to do with the franchise. Maybe dead island 2 will move the idea forward.
