Which Games Have Just BORED You to DEATH?

I don't even understand how it is possible to play a game to a point where you're "bored to death". I play games to have fun, not to be bored. If I get bored, I stop and move on - Usually.

But with that said, when it comes to big games, MGS4 made me a bit sleepy.. "Nanoma..."...zzzzZzzzZZZZzzZZzzzz

I really enjoyed Pokemon Blue back in the day, but Pokemon pretty much bores me to tears. My brother's still a big fan (he just picked up White yesterday), so I tried his copies of Gold and Sapphire before. Didn't make it to the third gym in either one.

There's also the first Jak and Daxter. Most people hold it as the best in the series and one of the PS2's best games, but I had to force my way through it. There was some nice platforming to be had here and there, but it was mostly a mind-numbing collect-a-thon.
Pokemon is a good answer

I just can't enjoy it anymore, the combat is too repetitive and collecting all the Pokemon feels redundant. There is no exctiement to it

The formula could be so much more.

Games :

L.A Noire
Little Big Planet 2

Reason :

L.A Noire : Well just same stuff basically u search for clue's then interrogate them and if u did it all u had to do the same stuff again but for the next case.

Little Big Planet 2

Well i just think i'm too old for this game... isn't fun for me

I don't think any of the following games are at all bad but without further ado...

Golden Sun DS: Now i've only played the first game but I enjoyed it (though I struggled to get past the first few hours). So when my friend let me borrow the DS game I was looking forward to it only to be assaulted by a barrage of never ending tutorials, slow gameplay and rather uninteresting plot. It may very well get better later on but after going for 3-4 hours I just couldn't bring up the willpower to carry on.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Even taking the cutscenes and codec interruptions out of the equation the game still makes my eyelids lower. Bosses that take too long to die, a stalking section that takes up around 80% of act 3, core gameplay seems to have gotten worse since the previous games with awkward controls and those horrible on-rails sections.
The only part of this game I genuinely enjoyed was the first half of act 2. Not the abomination that some here say it is but it is far from the PS3's greatest game.

A boy and his blob (wii): I wanted to like this, I really did but it is so very slow, the bean throwing combined with the blobs clumsy movement make the already slow paced gameplay even more sluggish.

Pretty much any modern shooter campaign, hiding behind walls with a regenerating health system is like having my own personal sandman. Of course this type of gameplay works much better in multiplayer so it isn't all bad.

There are more but i'll leave it at that for now.

Zelda / Twilight Princess.

I wandered around the town doing odd jobs for an hour or two, realized that a sword was nowhere in sight, and gave the fuck up. What a slow, boring start that game has.

The first 30 hours or so of FFXIII were a real snooze-fest.

GTA IV, while not boring, exactly, is one of those games I sometimes feel like I want to play; but when I boot it up, I realize there's just nothing to do, and inevitably end up just running around for five minutes before turning it off.

I'm sure there are older games, but I can't remember them.

RE5.

RE5.

R. E. 5.

I was literally forced to complete it as well, since my wife's best friend was soooo excited to play it and he actually went out and bought it, then proceeded to insist I co-op him all the way through it. I literally got a stomach ache when he came over and was like "we're totally playing Resident Evil today!".

Was excited and bought it at the Wii's launch. Played about halfway and gave up. Just not interesting enough and I felt like the art style, etc was becoming a bore. I thought the formula was wearing thin on me and to a certain extent it was. However, things like Okami have kept might interest to the end so I guess its the Zelda setting.

I've loved Zelda in the past but I just don't have the urge to go back.

You should quit gaming.

Each to their own and all that, but really? I mean, saccharine, twee, not challanging enough, maybe, but boring? It's just so inventive and colourful. What aspects bored you? I'm genuinely interested.

Asscreed 2, RDR, FF13 comes to mind. I've finished them all though and I found them to be good, but I couldn't play for more than 1 hour in a setting or so.

Xenosaga Ep. I

At this point, I don't even give a damn if the game is worth playing or not. There's no way you can justify such a slowly-paced intro.

And the battle system is so sloooooowwwwww.

I honestly tried to like this, I went into it expecting to like it, and I tried to disregard all it's faults for some time but at the end of the day the game just sucked.

I got to the second town, realized that the gameplay wasn't going to change much, and gave up on it.

I rarely, rarely ever play games that far into them and just give up without beating them. It's really a testament to how bad FC2 is that I didn't care to complete it.

Any of the series really. They all start with crazy over the top set piece stuff which is cool, but by the time I finish those I feel like I have seen EVERYTHING mechanical the game is going to throw at me and realize it's going to be another several hours of the same thing repeated to death. The stupid locked rooms where you have to kill mindless minions for a few minutes every 10 feet do not help matters.

Super Mario Galaxy is a great choice. Nonexistant difficulty curve, and the stages were too bland to warrant all of their objectives.

With HL2 I understand OP. I never finished it. I got almost towards the end before I got tired of waking up wondering how I feel asleep. T'was no fun for me. I enjoyed it a while but then it got old fast.

There are some jaded souls ITT. Also, this tread seems to have devolved into, "Justify why you hate great games". I know everyone has their opinion, and most people here will genuinely dislike the games posted, and give good reasons for doing so, but posts that contain multiples of titles like SMG, Uncharted, GTA, Halo, RDR, AssCreed, ME, Batman AA, God of War; I mean call me suspicious, but some of these posts just smack of being "too cool for school".

Took me forever to finish this short game because of the tedious running through the woods.

I agree, took me weeks to finally finish it. One of the worst games I've played this gen, just terrible.

Don't like lady gaga and robbie williams? TOO kool for skool.
Sounds more like you are insecure about your own opinion and need others to validate it.

Twilight Princess: dungeons were so boring, predictable and deja-vu'ish that I was always thinking "come on, finish now so I can reach the overworld and storyline again". Oh, and fleeing back to Kakariko from
the ice dungeon so I could change the homing bombs for regular ones was a jerk move

Sandbox and Open-World games of any kind (including Minecraft and the like). The only one I enjoyed was Bully, and that's only because it had a great storyline and the world had a nice scope without going "omg huge" and giving you some clear and realistic limits. All the rest are "oh, cool, so you can do this and that and... hey let's run over some hookers - 5 minutes later -> ZZZZZZzzzzZZzzz"

Final Fantasy XII: this one always felt like I was playing into an empty server of a generic Korean MMORPG with their huge time-waster empty plains and forests. SO. BORING. I left it at the point where you reach an old krypt and you find a boss fight that will kick your ass if you go downstairs or something like that.

I'll probably get some hate from this but for me it's Shadow of the Colossus. It's the only game where I've literally fallen asleep with the controller in my hands because it bored me so much.

It never appealed to me from the beginning but some friends kept raving about it and telling me I should play, so I did. Within twenty minutes I knew it wasn't for me but I kept at it to make them happy and about half way through I stopped.

What, we can't be bored by popular titles now? I find GTA and RDR to be repetitive and boring, with no real peaks to speak of. GTA, in particular, felt incredibly monotonous and boring after 10 hours or so, when you notice that all of the missions pretty much have the same outcome. When a game ceases to surprise me, or at least, to involve me in any meaningful way, is when I will start getting bored.

In some games, where I feel I have a large amount of control, I will stay interested until the illusion of control is broken. Mount & Blade is a good example of this. It kept me hooked for a good 20-25 hours.

Similarly, if the game forms some sort of emotional connection with me (very rare), I will stay interested almost indefinitely. Final Fantasy VI is a good example of this...I just have this emotional connection with the soundtrack that will keep me playing it.

I'm trying to think why games lose their grip on me, I blamed predictability and repetition for my Persona 3 and 4 comment earlier, and it's true for them, but practically every game is predictable and repetitive, including GTA and RDR, but they hold my interest just fine.

Well, those games involve you in a way you find meaningful to you.

We don't all have the same taste in games, and some gamers want games to involve them in different ways.

You know what, there's some truth in that. But as I say, most people seem to have a genuine reason for disliking whatever game they posted, while others just copy and paste the top 10 from metacritic and be done with it. Maybe if they validated their opinion, it wouldn't come off quite so obnoxious.

Grand Theft Auto IV -- still my most dissapointing game of all time

Eternal Sonata -- enjoyed the first 1/4 of the game. I got about halfway through it I believe before I was nearly bored to tears.

High profile games are not neccessarily games that you yourself is going to find fun to play. I see no problem with people finding them boring, but I do wonder why those people keep buying games like that.

And the developers of sandbox games needs to get much better at pacing and mission variety.

this is one of mine. just sold it back earlier this week actually.

also Lost Odyssey. couldn't get into it. didn't care enough to let the characters grow on me.. cause they really suck in the beginning.

Final Fantasy XII takes the cake on this one. It literally took me months to finish it and I wanted to gouge my eyes out. Assassin's Creed due to the sheer absurd amount of repetitive gameplay.

A mix of hype and not wanting to be left out when it's all anyone is talking about at release.

Shadow of the Colossus - Very boring game. All there is to it is fighting giant people, and then it takes forever to ride from one to the next. The frame rate also almost made me vomit.

Dragon Quest IX - Walking in this game felt like it took forever and doing chores for the people is just tedious. The battles are extremely boring and the game just feels drawn out. I quit around 12 hours in.

Twilight Princess - I'm playing it right now, and the fetch quests are getting so boring. I just want to go to the next dungeon. I think the only good thing about the game are the dungeons honestly. Everything between the dungeons are just extremely boring, unlike Ocarina. It feels like they just made it long for the sake of being long. It sucks when I don't like a Zelda game because it makes me feel like I'm losing interest in gaming, not just the game.
