Which Games Have Just BORED You to DEATH?

I generally hate seeing people call games boring - especially if I like the game, obviously - but more I mean in the general way that there's something pretty goddamn subjective about boredom. Like not just in the way "everything" is subjective, but in the sense that, if you're bored, seriously man, that's kinda on on you dood. Not to get too wishy-washy, but boredom is a state of mind, amirite?

Anyway, just wanted to get that bit out of the way (it's basically what I would have drive-by posted if I wasn't the OP).

But so here we go:

For some odd reason I truly cannot place, HL2 bores the fuck out of me. As much as I think it's an awesome game (I truly do), it literally puts me to fucking sleep every time I try to play it.

Also - and again I truly am very disappointed by this:

Portal 2 has the same effect.

Oh my god, you are going to be bitched to hell with that title and those games. Good luck OP.

For me, it would have been Armored Core 4 and Eternal Sonata.

Anther one is that Gears of War took 20 minutes to make me go "I hate it, I don't wanna play this"

I understand.

L.A. Noire was also one that I recently thought about. It was pretty good, but it really felt like it dragged on for way too long. Perhaps if they interspersed different cases throughout rather than lumping all the Homicide together or all the Arson together, it would've worked.

But oh well.

World of Warcraft.

Tried so many times to get into it but it's just a game of walk from one area to the next for an hour and then 10 minutes of auto-attacking.

BORRRRRING.

Persona 3.

Sorry guys, I might try it again someday.

Same for me. After trying for around 4-6 hours I said fuck it. I fell in love with Persona 4 in around an hour though.

Thanks. What's wrong with the title?

And I'm 100% serious when I say I'm not happy about my selections. I recommend both of those games very highly. It's just a physiological fact they make me wanna sleep. :/

Recently Crysis 2 and Killzone 3.

I'm having a hell of a time getting through Witcher 1 and Dragon Age Origins as well. I like them, but I just get so bored. Crysis 2 and Killzone I don't really like at all.

EDIT: Oh yes Demon's Souls for sure. I know I would love that game if I could get into it. I'm gonna force myself with Dark Souls.

Demon's Souls and Dead Nation are the two latest offenders. I've tried and I've tried but my slow-as-ass-pace through the games doesn't really mesh well with them.

Lost Odyssey.

The battle system is mind-numbingly boring, it's very little variation of very plain turn-based jRPG stuff. Battles take forever to load. I simply cannot play this for extended period of time, by the time I come back to it I have forgotten the story.

I love jRPGs (most of them), but this is one game that I will never finish I think.

Killzone 2 campaign.

Maybe I didn't give it a fair crack, but I honestly did not give a crap about it. It's just mundane. I should add I'm not exactly a huge FPS fan. My nephew, on the other hand, loved the campaign. I really enjoyed the online portion though.

The entire God of War saga.

Suikoden%20IV%20cover%20(US).jpg

A disgrace to the Suikoden series.

well crap, OP

that is some serious shit and i cannot fathom why those games would produce that state of boredom in you even with my wildest imagination.

Most recently I would say LA Noire.

In the past Final Fantasy XII. I love the game overall, I beat it and enjoyed it but there were some parts, I seem to recall a tower of some sort, that just bored the hell out of me.

Also Dragon Quest IX for the ds, I actually enjoyed most of the game but past a certain point it just became too repetitive, the story too uneventful, and just so boring that I actually stopped playing. A shame to cuz I thought it was the best DQ game I've played in a while.

Another is GTA: San Andreas, great game but there is so much to do and so much traveling that at some point I just got bored of it and stopped playing.

Edit: Also Final Fantasy XIII, way worse than XII which was actually compelling for the most part, XIII was the first FF in a long time that I didn't put at least 40 hours into. I played for maybe 10 before I had enough. Thinnest FF in a long, long time.

Brink killed my interested me very quick, could not even bring myself to play any class after a few hours.

Never got into Minecraft either. It is weird to get bored by a game with so much content, but I managed too.

The last part of LA Noire is not that good either, but I love(d) the early stuff so I guess that does not count

Recently, LA Noire did this to me. I woke up with my guy staring at a wall and some bystander saying "Hey, isn't that the cop who solved that case?" for the 100,000,000th time.

I don't understand any of the selections you guys posted. None whatsoever. It's no wonder games are getting shorter and shorter.

Grand Theft Auto 4
Dead Space
Resistance
Bioshock
Far Cry 2
Nier
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Littlebigplanet
Halo ODST
Army of Two
Assassin's Creed
Batman Arkham Asylum
Prince of Persia

Just from this gen. Thank god for Gamefly (most of these, anyways.)

Radiant Historia, unfortunately... I really like the concept, and the story is nice. I actually don't have any specific complaints about it, but for some reason I just get really bored while playing it. I'll probably try it again later, though.

I tried to play GTA: San Andreas as my first GTA, but I just got so darn bored. I didn't find the missions compelling, and the controls were hard to use. It's a shame because I really wanted to explore more of the world, but never got past one of the first missions.

Another one that I bring up quite often is FF7. I find myself bored every time I try and play through it. The music is fantastic, the characters aren't completely annoying, and I like the atmosphere, but everything feels really slow paced, and it doesn't help that your moving speed is just painfully slow. I want to finish it as its one of two Final Fantasies I haven't beaten, the other being FF12 because deserts bore me. Put a long desert environment in your game, and I will very easily get bored of it. Happened in Xenogears too.

Valkyria Chronicles. Really wanted to like this game but the glacial pace killed it for me, it's needlessly slow. And the game gets quite difficult, making me waste even more time waiting.

The only two games I've ever quit over boredom:

Final Fantasy XII
Ace Attorney Investigations

Final Fantasy XII because I was in this ship or something (around 8 hours into the game) and it was all just gray... gray... gray. It was so ugly, and I hated the battle system, so that was the time to quit.

I used AAI to put myself to sleep before I gave up on it. It worked better than sleeping pills. Just played it for five minutes and I was out like a light.

And I just gotta say, D: D: D: D: at you picking Portal 2, OP. I know it's personal preference, but man. I just think Portal 2 is my favourite game ever, so it makes me sad thinking of even one person not enjoying it, haha.

Persona 3 and 4. I've played maybe twelve hours of both, and they're quality games no question, but they're fucking boring. I think it's how cyclical it all is.

Recently Mass Effect. I don't know why I kept playing it, I kept telling myself, "it's gotta get better right? Everyone loves it!" Then I beat it and just shook my head. I also bought ME2 at the same time but honestly I'm not sure if I'll ever play it.

You get the hell out of here.

Mass Effect 1 and 2
Planescape Torment
Final Fantasy XII
Kingdom Hearts 358 divided by 2 evenings (though only for 80% of the game)
Mother 3
Nier

There's a bunch a more that I can't remember right now. More often than not, a game bores me if I'm not into the art style and/or setting.

Lost Odyssey
Gears of War
Uncharted 2(On replays, the puzzle/platforming bits are mind numbingly dull. The game is average but I looove the multiplayer.)
Twilight Princess

Would love to hear what games bored YOU to death rather than just criticize everyone else's opinion.

Shenmune 2

Got up to the point of walking in the woods then would fall asleep. I am sorry, but if I fall asleep while playing a game its not a good sign.

Hmm, perhaps I'll try it once I'm done with Baiten Kaitos: Origins (which is awesome).

Wait, I have Valkyrie Profile 2 waiting, and I want to play through Lenneth too.

Persona 4 will have to wait.

Almost every recent purchase Ive made, LA Noire, Demonsouls, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, Killzone 3. Just not pulling me in like Deadspace 2 to finish them through despite them all being good/decent games. Infamous 2 looks to like a pure winner though.

Gears 1 & 2. Couldn't stand the bullet sponge enemies and shitty gunplay. And I was sick of getting lost. Hopefully this thread doesn't get ruined 'cause some folks can't handle their favourite game being criticised, seriously harden the fuck up.

I completed Suikoden IV. I think the game is crap, but I did complete it. The whole adventurer on a ship thing just made me play. Not to mention, at the time, I really wanted to play a RPG/Adventure game. It still sucked though. I can remember going being confused when I finished it. Kind of like, "that's it?"

Now Suikoden III was mediocre too. This is strange since people often say it's a Suikoden game they really enjoyed. I stopped when I got to the castle part because I just spent too much time on that and stopped giving it a damn about anything else. It just had crappy pacing (half my fault probably).

Man, I was really picky at that time. I'm a lot more forgiving now.

Suikoden 1 and 2 are still the best in the series for me. Though, I will mention I enjoyed Suikoden V a lot until about 25 hours in where I accidentally deleted my save. No way I was going to invest so much time again.

You taking the piss or is this an actual game title?

For me the only one I've encountered was Half-Life 2 to be honest. I loved the first but the second one just did not grab me. It dragged on way too long at some points. I acknowledge that it's a great game but it's just too boring for me.
