Starfox Adventures on Gamecube - What a boring game!

I hate to, but I absolutely agree.

I hadn't touched the game in many, many years, but I got the bug to play it for some reason last year. Played it over the course of two or three days, and I was amazed at how badly it had aged. Really lack-luster game compared to Rare's other stuff, but maybe it was due to the star fox insertion? I don't know, it was just really bland.

Any Bioware or Bethesda game puts me to sleep. I generally do not enjoy western RPGs. I could barely make it through Diablo II and that game was actually pretty cool. I have always preferred Japanese RPGs. Games like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, etc. put me right on the first train to Sleepy Ville.

I'll have to say I agree with all the Half-Life mentions. Left 4 Dead was cool for like the first week, but it became incredibly boring real fast. Same with Portal. I remember finishing the original Portal back when it came out, but I had no desire to replay it. I used to dig Valve games like Half-Life 2 back in the day, but recently they make me want to eat one of these.

GTA 4 was another. I don't even know why I checked that game out. Back in my 360 phase I was more prone to playing games I normally wouldn't. I played the intro scenario in GTA 4, got that one docks achievement or whatever, turned it off, and never played it again. So fucking boring.

Little Big Planet felt like the biggest chore to play too. I love platformers and picked it up thinking it was going to be cool, but it wasn't.

I think the lesson I learned over the years is that most Western, non-Japanese games tend to put me to sleep, real fast.

Oblivion OH GOD. Everything in that game is SLOWW.

Red Dead Redemption. It's a cool game though and I plan to finish it one day.

I think I'm beginning to hate open world games, give me linearity any day of the week. Or fake open world games like the Witcher, I love those.

I second the OP's sentiment about Half Life 2. I know a lot of people who constantly talk about how awesome it is -- Portal 2 revived the chatter -- but I just don't get it. Maybe the narrative is too passive. Perhaps the environments all feel too sterile and/or similar. Or maybe it's just the characters... I can't nail down why it bores me to death, but it does.

Halo 3 was another game that just fell flat on it's face for me. Went through the campaign on co-op with a friend once and never played it again; I didn't want to. I've played through other shooters in the past multiple times; Gears of War on every difficulty, RE4 on every difficulty, even Metal Gear Solid three or four times. Halo 3 was lucky I finished it a single time.

Zelda OOT is my top pick for snoozefest of the forever! I first tried playing it back just before Wind Waker came out an I didn't get very far at all. Then I tried to give it another shot this year but gave up while still in the first town. Everything about it is just way to sloooowww for me even try to like. The move to 3D didn't do many games favors and Zelda especially not so.

I guess those games are all about the atmosphere. I played the first one and had a lot of cool experiences. It's the only open world survival-horror game I know of. I never finished it but I can definitely see the appeal for some.

Also, props to Bayonetta for boring me out of the genre. I haven't touched any other hardcore action game since I played Bayonetta and won't until NG3 comes out (if it turns out to be interesting and good enough that is).
