Which has the best shooting feel (gunplay): Titanfall 2 or F.E.A.R.?

Titanfall 2

F.E.A.R.

Make no mistake: both games feel great. Purely on the aspect of gunplay, these two games are unmatched. I played TF2 last year when it was released and loved it. The shooting felt fantastic and was second-to-none. F.E.A.R. is a much older game... but I might be inclined to give it the award. Its guns and bullets have a weight to them that seems to be missing from TF2's buttery-smooth feel. The recoil, the sound design and the enemy's physical reactions to being hit all work together to make something that is just unmatched in terms of pure shooting satisfaction.

FEAR. It's not even close, the actual shooting part of Titanfall is whatever, hardly impressive, or loud, or crunchy, or satisfying from a skill ceiling standpoint. It's the movement in that game that is killer, but FEAR's shooting n combat are ace as fuck.

Titanfall. Fear is great but I've always felt like the input response is really clunky in that game, especially the automatic weapons. Which hurts it a lot.

Halo 5. Out strafing a player online and getting a perfect / reversal medal.

Just simply the best micro reward in an FPS.

I never played FEAR when it first came out, so I decided to go back to it recently and I found myself baffled at why people liked it so much.

Ignoring the copypaste offices and warehouses, the AI was rather complex as they flank, flush, communicate, and act rather naturally(for 2005 anyway). The weapons were meaty and hit collision was a step ahead of many contemporaries. The bullet time helped to appreciate and soak it in.

It has been at least a decade since I played it myself though. This is just my memory.

Fear was only good because of bullet time. Titanfall is good all the time. Good heavy bullet impact sounds help as well.

I think the better question to ask here is there actually any game that has toppled F.E.A.R. in terms of gunplay because in my mind, it has never been toppled.

I love both FEAR and Titanfall 2 a lot, but I don't think that they are too comparable since one revolves around mechs and platforming and the other around slo mo.

F.E.A.R seems to have sort of weird cult following I donÂ’t entirely understand. I played it on the Pc when it came out and again on Xbox 360.
People always mention the AI as if itÂ’s god tier, but outside of a couple of scripted moves that the enemies I never saw anything that impressed me.

Honestly I think the gunplay in Titanfall 2 is overrated. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it never feels great.

So I'll go with FEAR in this one.

I really like how Titanfall 2 feels and controls even on consoles compared to Battlefield 1 for example, Battlefield 1 feels like playing underwater with how sluggish you aim and how precise everything is.

Battlefield 1 definitely feels 'heavier' than Titanfall. But TitanFall is almost TOO distracting, compared to F.E.A.R.... man that game was smooth as butter and felt just right.

The same can probably be said for other games as well. Take the new Doom, for example. While it doesn't have a cult following, I also absolutely do not understand the praise that's thrown upon the game. Compared to the old Doom's, I think the old Dooms are miles ahead of the new one. It's really an average game, at best.

People are right that on pure gun feel, FEAR is better, but its impossible to divorce the weapons in titanfall from what you can achieve with them. Dropping a charging enemy with a CAR burst at full sprint is gaming caramel.

Honorable mention to Max Payne, the slowmo kills with revolvers in 3 where you can feel the drum in the gun spinning before it fires again, so good.

Nothing comes close to the original F.E.A.R. I would say Machinegames Wolfenstein had the best feeling gunplay in recent memory.

Yeah, it's F.E.A.R by far, as many have mention.

Although the smart-gun segment at the end of Titan2 made me fell like a real bad-ass, props for actually convening the feeling of the opening-cinematic intro into gameplay. Alas if was a "artificial" (aimbot) way of doing it, while FEAR was all you and pure bad-ass.

I can safely say no other game since FEAR has better slowmo, explosive, shotgun mayhem gunplay with awesome sound effects.

It's a shame really that so many FPS today the weapons sound so weedy and unsatisfying.

Between these two? F.E.A.R.... no contest at all. But Destiny is still the king of gunplay.

Destiny >> F.E.A.R. >>>>> Titanfall

Killing Floor.

Titanfall doesn't feel much different from Call of Duty and thus never felt special to me. Tends to happen when you're ex-Infinity Ward.

F.E.A.R. is still unmatched. Other developers just don't prioritize the same things Monolith was with that first game, F.E.A.R. still feels unique 12 years later. Even its two sequels don't feel the same.

I mean, Titanfall 2's weapons feel... Fine? I guess? They're nowhere near the best feeling weapons. Haven't played FEAR, but I can only assume it's better.

Ewww TF has CoD style gunplay which will always suck. It's the reason why I wasn't satisfied with TF, kills didn't feel rewarding, it's the reason TF2 does nothing for me, I gave it a chance but no, gunplay isnt special.

FEAR by a long shot (no pun intended), accurate hip fire will always be superior.

Halo 5 tops them all though. Balance and grenade combat it second to none.

Some of the VR games have insane gunplay really. Robo Recall or even Arizona Sunshine (you really have to learn to aim in this game...) are so much fun to just shoot.
