Which of the Test Drive games are worth playing nowadays?

I remember as a kid really liking the PSOne Test Drive games if only cuz they had the Viper GTR (Part of the reason I liked Scud Race too :P), but have any of the 10+ games in the series aged well? What are the best games in the series?

I remember thinking Test Drive 6 on PSOne was one of the most amazing looking games ever. Didn't think graphics would ever get better.

Test Drive Unlimited is the genre masterpiece.

One of the best genre games of the decade.

Still undisputed king of the open driving sub-genre IMO

Basically this. I still come back to it every now and then, nothing beats the joy of just cruising around the island in an E-Type with a custom music playlist.

What's the best ver. of this game? I could track down the PC ver., but how are the PS2 and PSP versions?

It was such a weird series> Went from being an outrun style arcade game (albeit on PC) to serious 3d racer to crazy arcade racer back to semi-serious racing.

I recently bought TDU2 during the Steam sale and I would love it if not for the damn driving tests with locks away content. I am stuck on the second set and despite doing them dozens of times, cannot get past them.

edit: The PSP and PS2 versions aren't bad, but they strip out a lot of the stuff from the 360/PC version of the game.

Test Drive Unlimited is a masterpiece. I really enjoyed the game when it came out.

I think it is pretty easy to play even today, it doesn't look very outdated.

The PS2 and PSP versions are surprisingly competent, they're still open world but obviously heavily cut down visually. The reason you wouldn't want to play them however is because they're missing avatar customisation, motorbikes, some missions, a few car manufacturers and functional mirrors.

The 360 version is the one to go for, PC version had a lot of bugs, was missing some of the DLC cars the 360 had (if I remember right) and I don't think the online servers are still up.

I dont have a 360msadly but will consider it

Damn I loved TDU. I would drive around the entire island then find random people online and we would just follow each other through trails. So chill. It really did capture the essence of being a rich motherfucker. Too bad the servers are probably down.

I remember thinking Unlimited had a really cool concept, but it wasn't fulfulled well. Today I'd much rather play Forza Horizon instead, it's all I wanted Unlimited to be and more.

So
Got the PC ver. and applied the latest mod/patch :P
I only set up some of the controls since the game starts out with keyboard by default. I only played for a little bit but does anyone have a suggested/recommended Controller setup?
